Fass Lift Pump Bucket Test
มุมมอง 14K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Having problems with your fass lift pump? A bucket test can help you diagnose if it’s the lift pump or your truck. In this video my pump fails the bucket test, then I take the pump apart and replace the o-rings. Once that is done I put everything back together and try the test again and the pump works correctly.

How is the paint on this truck holding up? Any swirls on it?
The paint is okay, I try to wax and polish every spring on the vehicles. I don’t cut because I’m not a professional and I know these gm have very thin paint. I have a few chips along the rockers, couple up the doors but I don’t have huge stance so it’s not too bad
@Cruff16 I had mine paint correction and ceramic coat. Didn't last long without swirls lol. I've got the exact same truck. Except on 35s toyo
Yeah mine is far from a show truck, I try to keep it clean and take care of it but it is a work truck so it’s tough to do
Mine has a golf cart around it! Show this in frame.
Only thing I can think of is jacking up one side of the cart get it on as much of a angle as possible (safely), try and get as much oil in as possible. You might just need to drive the bolt in a little further.
So we’re the orings messed up ?
Yeah, it either wasn’t sitting perfect or it was pinched maybe a small scratch I’m not overly too sure I replaced them and it was good to go
@ just had the same issue is why I originally asked . Same deal with mine old orings weren’t visibley messed up . Changed them no change , took it back apart and put even more greese on them and it finally sealed up and primed
@ good to hear it’s back up and running!
Do you have the part #
There has been a few part number changes but this is the one I have #85023720
@ awesome thanks!
Lmao 😂 Only 10K km's on those banana skins, ouch!!!
Good golly! Thanks for the video! Very informative!
Any major rubbing or issues after all this time with the 37s ?? I wanna slap some 37s on my 24
Mine only rubs the sway bar at full crank so for regular daily driving it does not bother me at all. I’ve put about 55,000 K on the set of tires and my next set will be 37 again.
Hey thanks for the video, was your fuel light on as well? When the gauge was on empty
Yes the light was on if I remember correctly
Thanks for making the alignment video dh
Sorry! Ran out of time and need to get the truck back on the road!
Thanks for the video. How much did the new Grille Shutter cost you?
I think I was about 350-400 🇨🇦
Looks good dude, have a hd chevy notice much milage difference?
Thanks, it does hurt the mileages little but nothing extreme. Maybe 50-100km less per tank
Whats the part number on this?
Crank Position Sensor by DORMAN (OE SOLUTIONS) - 917-764
How are the 37s working out? Any off roading? Plenty of pavement princess run them, but my truck is off road on uneven terrain every day.
They are okay, I have a slight vibration from them not being perfectly round (common for china tires) they were pretty good in the snow. Mud I can’t really tell you but for sloppy job sites and pulling trailers they never let me down. If the roads are really causing the truck to flex I would cut the bumper for more clearance. I have 50k km on them now I would say I have 40% left
That's a shame having to replace that after a few years
Is the driver side cams supposed face down ?? I see that the passenger the cams are facing up ??
It’s suppose to face up. That’s another way to fuck the pins up again. People shouldn’t be working on them trucks. I’ve had a truck come into the dealership with the pins fucked up and the cam adjuster facing down which is the wrong orientation.
Absolutely beautiful method will be trying ina few days
Take a look at your brake rotors. Going down the road safely huh ?
They’ve been replaced too! Always something
Great & very helpful video. 👏 Thanks!
Well done
Not all heroes wear capes! Wish you could pin this to the top of search results... Nailed that one
Why would you install it in the pickup bed? They recommend installing on the frame rail as close to the the tank as you can. The way it is installed requires the pump to suck fuel straight up into the bed which may be the issue.
How are they holding up?? Thinking of buying these
Ive had no problems so far but I do have the truck torn apart right now getting to the cam pin
hit a big outdoor bump on a turn they might hit.i am in the market for a gmc, though
I’ve put 40k on them and yet to hit the cab or bumper, I don’t off road with the truck but I work construction so uneven roads for sure with the truck
Thanks for this video, im going 37’s with the stock wheels on my 3500 high country. Also doing a 3” leveling kit. So im for sure it will clear.
Have you had any issues since doing this on the tires or truck ?
Nothing at all, I have put about 35,000km on since and truck is doing great. The biggest factor is the front end geometry is factory, no additional stress on the front end components. If you crank the keys or level the truck then it adds stress and may cause pre-mature failure of the front end.
Hell yah brotha I like the way you think thanks for the tip only tried tactics like that with throw out bearings
What were the symptoms of this going bad?
Crank no start, with an engine code for the sensor. I think it was P0335
P0336
Excellent video
What is the third fitting other than the E and R fittings?
Fuel in, fuel out (engine) fuel return (tank)
Came here for Pin install. Great idea with the nut and bolt setup!
I seen another video where a guy used a small socket and a vice grip
heres my question, would the truck crank for a few seconds then quit? mine is now cranking but maybe 3 revolutions then just quits.
Personally mine would crank for probably 10 seconds before the truck stopped trying to
Did you ever make an alignment video?
I never did, ran out of time and got busy with work sorry
Glad I found your video. Your way of getting those pins in looks way easier than what I was doing. On my way right now to get 2” bolt. Thanks for the video
These are gravity fed fuel pumps. You have overworked the by putting it above the tank. All pumps have a head rating which states the maximum height a pump can be above the source.
Pump was brand new out of the box, I temp mounted it under the truck, same result. When I spoke to Fass they didn’t care that it was in the box of the truck
I'm in the same situation man. Got a brand new pump motor new gear brand new o rings. Installed a sump. And still can't get a prime. Even after pressurizing tank.
I have a new 100 and I can get diesel to flow out of the front filter when cracked and I can hear it circulating back to the filler neck but no output pressure at all. Very frustrating. I’ll probably try this. Take a look at the check ball and orings. Fingers crossed.
Just bought a truck with this problem, should I just pull the computer see if it’s roached and send it in? Also how much did that cost
I would pull the computer carefully open and inspect it. My problem was visible the second I opened the case. I paid 250$ for a computer from a scrap yard and a buddy did all programming for beer
Wash 🧽 mitt Just saying
Trust me, I miss having a clean truck, I am too cheap for a car wash and too busy to wash my hand every day. I used to live on a dirt road and the truck is on a job site every day.
This is legit the only video I could find on this part, thank you so much bro
How do you get the bolt out that’s holding it on
I have the same truck but as a 3500. I did the same thing and only get the same rub as you at full crank. Does not bother me at all and the truck looks better. It's going to be a very rare occasion that you hit a bumb at full crank at high speed. Low speed no worries. She looks good!!!
Exactly! If she don’t rub you didn’t go big enough
My work truck 22’ high country gas 37 no lift zero issue even when towing
Yeah, mine tows great too
Wheel spacers will fix all your rubbing inside, but then you will probably rub your bumper and likley have to do a norcal mod.
I like the tucked wheels, no cut bumper for once, truck stays clean for more than a day. For how often and heavy I tow I am not a fan of wheel spacers. If I was someone who drove the truck and never towed maybe I would use spacers
Pretty tight in there! I got 35 12.50 R18 ,Nexen 12 ply Roadian mtx on my 21 DHD and they about perfect, wicked looks with a little more room, glad you got rid of the shit stock goodyear junk
Transamerica tire co had a recall on tires for vehicles over 10,000 gwvr. Predator, Venom power, and Transeagle brands. All made by Shandong Yinboa tyre. Risking a diesel denali is fine if you have good insurance. Risking your life isnt worth the price difference in a quality tire vs those cheapos.
pumps mounted backwards, first part of the video wrong filter was off, when you crack the foward filter mounted correctly it would of been your rear on your setup the suction to air you were putting your finger over should of been going through the filter to the pickup. filter off that motor was never connected to the pickup line. filter closest to the 2 output lines should be the only filter cracked or off during priming
pickup line to tank goes directly to that second hole you were touching at 3:24 should put in vid or description so no one burns out their pump
3:28 hole that suction would suck the fuel from first hole to motor then second filter, second filter off, no restriction faster prime
correct at 8:08. WD 40 is a definite especially new, so the pump doesn't have a dry unlubricated start. Hope this info helps!
after I saw your video I will buy airdog pump.
The system is normally installed lower than top of tank! Why is it installed in the box ?
I wanted it out of site and out of the elements, no need to worry about salt and mud or rocks
@harmonsheavydutytruckrepai6590 Is this true for both models using the sump, or draw straw?
They look pretty good on a stock truck. I went with 35’s and they made a a huge difference on the curb appeal of my truck. Every time I fill up someone asked what all I had to do to get 35’s on it and I tell them they just fit. I did turn my torsion bars up exactly 4 turns to get the lower a arms off of the bump stop the week after I bought it. That actually improved the ride on rough roads quite significantly.
What is the exact size of your 35?
@@ericbenzel8676 I have not measured them but the actual size is 35-12.50r20
That's surprising the bump stops were that close to bottoming out but admittedly I haven't looked under the newer trucks to see just how close the bump stop is to the A arm, had you by any chance added an aftermarket front bumper and winch to your truck that added more front end weight ?. Years back I had cranked up the torsion bars on a truck and the reason was to gain clearance and because of how far I went with the adjusters it caused the truck to ride stiffer which I was aware of being a side effect and also it really threw the alignment out which again I expected and had it realigned. Just curious if you had your alignment checked after the adjustment as it might not hurt to have that done, if its too far out that could cause wear on your expensive tires ... as you know how retarded tire prices are these days, certainly up in Canada where I am.
@@charlesb4267 I did and it was dead on. I saw a TH-camr telling about the bump stops being so close and he ended up turning his 4 turns. I was skeptical but tried it and it was a improvement.
@@billylee2312 This is pure speculation but I wonder if the torsion bars experience an initial sag, leaf springs certainly settle in a bit with a little use. Even before the truck gets to its destinations its been either on rail or a vehicle hauler trailer and bound to be some suspension movement although not the same as driving down some of our Canadian pot hole and heaved roads for example. But good to hear you checked it out just to be sure its to spec rather than wish you had later.
Should the pump always be running with the key on? I have a duramax lml engine rebuild that was running great for 2 days and now 3 and 8 fuel injectors are coding out
I have always wired it like Fass directs so my trucks turn the pump on when the key is on
@@Cruff16 should the motor be loud as fucking hell?
I’ve always noticed it running but not overly noticeable, even my old ones that had 3 years on them
nice descriptive video buddy, thanks
You can just shim your front bumper 1\4 inch and you'll be fine
Doesn’t rub the bumper, just the inner fender. A zip tie on each fixed it
Nice job ! There is a petrol product out that will really help under truck corrosion - It sprays on And I think you spray it every year or so - Not a undercoat stuff , it is just mostly clear and I Hear it really works nice . Not a big mess . Cool GMC truck !
