really pretty!

I was suppose to go Christmas 1992 on an 8th grade field trip from W. C. Friday Jr. high school in Gaston County but it snowed in Ashville that morning so they had to reschedule so we went in jan. 1993. had a good time still the biggest house I've ever been in. I was in a wheelchair so we used the old elevator. saw the swimming pool, don't remember everything since it was 30 years ago. would have loved to have went that Christmas. also went down to the winery and drank some fresh made grape juice which was really good. haven't been back since. my mom went to Gatlinbburg a month ago with ladies from her church and they drove through the mountains and saw the damage from the hurricane and said it looked worse in person. been seeing stories about the people being provided campers and tiny homes to live in which is a good thing.

All-Star Sports Resort doesn't seem very 'Disney" themed, which can be a problem for some people.

Do they have amenities for special needs? My brother requires one of those shackle post at the bed so he doesnt wander off and hurt himself or someone else.

I really appreciate videos like this. Marriott reached out to me a couple of days ago about a property on a beach that I've already visited many times, and I thought it was a great opportunity to go ahead and fund a family vacation. The price that they offered certainly seems to be below market. I'm hesitant towards locking myself into the concept of timeshares in general, so I'm starting to bone up on Marriott's particular offering. And that's when I came across you guys. Thanks for the video.

Considering the price point comment, what would you say other resorts in North Beach have comparable accommodations but lower costs?

Omg! My mom and I just stayed at the place you warned against staying at and their sewer had exploded in the parking lot, right in front of the pool!!! We didn’t see it at first and there was no way to avoid stepping in it!!! It got all over someone’s white jeep that was parked in a handicap spot! It was so gross and the place wasn’t even trying to clean it up! We told an employee and they tried to call someone but I guess no one cared enough to come out! Oh it was so bad! They won’t even return our calls either but they certainly charged us an extra $50 a few days after we left! I sent the place photos and the staff member could have cared less, acting like stepping in sewage wasn’t a big deal! Terrible place 🤮🤮🤮

How are you paying almost $2,000? The MF (maintenance fee) for 2025 is 86.0255¢ per point, which would make your 2025 MF $1,720-unless you consider that to be almost $2,000. Due to our geographic location, we’re closer to Myrtle Beach than Hilton Head. We visit OceanWatch in Myrtle Beach more often than Hilton Head, and we generally don’t have trouble reserving there. We usually can’t secure a reservation at OceanWatch 12 months out, but if we keep checking back, week owners (there are mostly week owners at Myrtle Beach) will often trade their week for points to visit other resorts. This opens up availability for point owners to reserve. So, it’s not always necessary to reserve 13 months in advance. Plus, there’s Sheraton’s Broadway Resort, which is lower in points and usually has availability. Not as nice as OW and not on the beach, but it is still in Myrtle Beach. We also hate the sales meetings, now called updates, and we usually don't attend them unless the "gift" is worth our time. It’s just a high-pressured sales pitch which you don’t need to attend. Just say no. You may need to be firm-even pretend you’re annoyed-but just say no. And don’t answer the phone in your room. We NEVER do! If friends or relatives need to reach you, they’ll call your cell, not your room. If it’s important, the resort will leave a message on your room phone. The maintenance fees are indeed a pain, but they rise with inflation. I’m sure you’re familiar with rising costs on electric bills, gas bills, taxes, repairs, groceries-everything has gone up, especially in the past year. We can’t blame Marriott; we can blame our government’s spending habits. As owners (yes, you are an owner), we need to contribute to landscaping, painting, furniture replacement, remodeling, and general upkeep, in addition to utilities-just as we would with a vacation home. If you want to sell your points, you’re correct that you won’t recoup anywhere near the initial purchase price. But we all knew this wasn’t a financial investment for profit; it was an investment in vacationing. We have thoroughly enjoyed our ownership and cherish the thought that, years from now, the villa we rent will still cost the same number of points. At least our kids and grandkids will benefit (our ownership is in our trust). You can sell your points on RedWeek.com or through any other reseller for about $3 per point.

Marriott KoOlina does look amazing! All of these properties look pretty great though. And they are all in great locations. My husband loves podcasts - but I am not really a fan either. He listens to them for hours though. I think maybe I will just make a podcast set in our living room so he will sit and talk to me for three hours sometimes. Thanks for sharing your list with us!
