Cancer and how a moment of realisation changes everything
Hi, this short video I’m sharing in the hope it might help someone out there who is on their own journey.
Last night whilst travelling home from work I got caught up in an accident that left me queuing for 5 and a half hours in pain fed up and then a bolt of lightning hit me that put things into perspective
I hope you enjoy it and it finds some meaning to you who are on this roller coaster of a journey ❤️

Well done mate. Radiation has becomed more focused over the years. 12 years ago, the radiation i received spilled over into the bowel and bladder. This time around, the radiation was more focused, and didn't have as much pain. We just keep going, shoulders back, and smash this, as Troy Hawke from the greeters guild on TH-cam would say.

Thanks for the update Woody. You're on the right track in understanding that the oncologists and therapists are going to give you the full list of possible side effects, while each of us has our own experience. Don't worry. If there's pain it can be managed, but you may have very little pain! Everything is worse in the anticipation. And your team will help you get through whatever comes. Best of Luck. After second radiaton of the spine I got paralysis of legs, but before radiation my legs were already very weak, so I had two lose- lose choices: to accept radiation or not. I hoped radiation will help, bet very soon after finish of radiation treatment paralysis of legs came. My hopes have gone.

Woody - always great to hear from you and so so respectful of your positive approach towards your prognosis. I had a very similar experience when I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer with Gleason Score of 5&4 back in March 2013. My urologist gave me a life expectancy of 2-3 years. With the blessing of the Lord I am still here today, 9th July 2024, albeit on end of life care. I found my oncologist had no interest in me as a human being. I was purely a number, entering his conveyor belt to go through his narrow consideration of available treatments without him stepping outside his strict code of practice. Thankfully, the Abiraterone hormone therapy was a Godsend and kept my PSA below 0.10. However, when my PSA started to double quite dramatically and with my insistence on looking at alternative forms of treatment he finally placed me on an intense course of 10 sessions of docetaxel chemotherapy. No explanation of the serious side effects I have since suffered nor any variation on his consultation approach. I finished my chemotherapy with my PSA at 12. No concern from my oncologist. I demanded a second opinion from The Royal Marsden, who despite being a leading prostate cancer hospital fed me the same NHS jargon as received from my oncologist. I then sought consideration for any appropriate trials. I was initially considered for a gene focused trial but unfortunately I did not meet the necessary criteria. I was then again referred by my oncologist to The Royal Marsden Hospital. They only had Stage 1 trials available where I clearly required Stage 2 consideration bearing in mind my PSA had now gone up to over 700. My oncologist threw in the towel in November 2023 and put me on palliative end of life care with an anticipated end of life by February/March 2024 and definitely by end August 2024. I found my clinical NHS care to be nothing more than appalling. I’m still here to tell my story due to the blessing of the Lord, my body’s response to Abiraterone and my own research and reading, The NHS at nursing level, my GP and my Hospice have been brilliant. The Consultants have not been up to the standard I had anticipated. I will purchase this book especially as the proceeds will all go to a great cause. Stay strong Woody and remember you need to take ultimate control of your care.
