This month Tidal will replace all the MQA tracks with FLAC. If you like Apple Music then why not Airplay it over to the power node. Airplay will deliver CD quality.

Using my 2200 for HT. Recently, paired with Krell pre to drive maggies LRS and am blown away with improvement in details and bass definition. Bit warmer tho compared to its former HT duties driving focal fs.

Take the spikes that came with them to a big box store and ascertain their size/thread pitch. Then order same size casters to screw into the stands for a 3 inch lift. If you insist on plugging the ports use the included black plugs instead of rags. They work best with a 500 watt amp. I know. I own a pair.

Good to see you're back. Lots of interesting stuff. I just went away from boxed speakers to a pair of Magnapans dopole electric. Amazing clarity mids and highs. Love you VTL gear but they are very difficult to come by here. A video on that would be welcomed. Good luck on the crossovers.

HiRes audio over Bluetooth is really a misnomer. Bluetooth, even in the latest versions, doesn't offer a high enough bandwidth for even CD quality lossless audio. All the Bluetooth codecs are lossy, and worse still, most are optimised for latency, which requires them to be low complexity (SBC, all aptx variants and LDAC), making them less efficient, and having to throw away more audio information at a given bitrate. Even where the codec spec isn't optimsed for this (AAC), the implementation will be (ie, the Apple AAC encoder will opt for latency over quality). AptX and LDAC's "Hi Res" implementations try to compensate by using higher bandwidths than your typical MP3 or AAC, but even with LDACs 900kbps, pretty much maxing out Bluetooth's bandwidth, it will be a lower quality than CD. In order to carry any audio information above 20kHz it has to throw away more audio below 20kHz, which is generally the most important part of the music. Thankfully, your streamer isn't rellying on the Bluetooth for the audio part, so as long as you're using the speakers or using wired headphones you can benefit from better sound.

Thanks. I think my last couple of videos detail my setup. I’m enjoying Tidal very much as a source and using Tidal connect works well for me. The Bluesound vault will stream MQA recordings from Tidal but my M51 dac will not unpack MQA so the best resolution is about 24bit 90khz. The dac does upsample but to what degree I don’t know. By comparison to cd quality, MQA has a deeper, wider sound stage and more delicate detail. Beck’s Brush with the blues is a great example. I feel like I am part of the crowd in the room. If I close my eyes I could be in the club, drink in hand with Beck and band playing infront of me. I don’t get that with cd resolution.

Jeff was amazing. You do a lot of streaming, what service do you use and can you hear the difference in quality from master to master. I use Tidal and at times not happy with the quality. Would be happy if you do a short video, interesting to hear your take on it, and if you upsample and how you stream. We are on the forefront of this new Hi Res audio technology. 61 years old here, and I know what you mean, Hundreds on high res audio gear and my hearing is fading ever so slowly as well. lets enjoy it as much as we can. I have a pair of Klipsch forte and since the horn drivers are very directional, I have to angle my speakers to get the soundstage. A preamp with left and right outputs may solve our hearing issues as time goes on. thanks for sharing.

Wait!! that NAD M51 there are mini SMSL MQA DACs that work USB and won't cause sound degradation from 80usd and up Blue sound Node>USB>SMSL>M51 Because the NAD M51 USB 2.0 may have more issues

Isn't simplicity great.. I have just a bit more here.. valves, a Lab 12 Pre1, Suara amp, a ifi NEO stream into a pair of Klipsch ForteIV, no need for a DAC. No need for my turntable or CD loader. No need for any recorded media Enjoying MQA, the future of all streaming, but just learned from another TH-camr that Apple play is suppose to be better than MQA, as Apple play is considered lossless and MQA is ?? more research is needed.. enjoy the new era of high res music.

I bought the M51 in 2016. It's the only Stereophile Class A components I've ever owned. When mated to the BlueSound Node, it gives you MQA playback capability with Tidal, RadioParadise and other streaming services. I've only seen 48 KHz and 44.1 KHz sample rates ever from MQA. 7th year of ownership. Totally love the sound. Rest of system? Audio Research LS22 preamp, Mega P25 turntable, Zu Audio Omen Dirty Weekend II, Nelson Pass ACA amp

I own the Deluxe and the TL-5, while the Deluxe is a fine pre the TL-5 loaded with Telefunken is superb.
