Episode 121: Do The Irish Government Ever Question Themselves?
I doubt it. Or if some of them do, they dishonestly hide it - which might be even worse. But we simply cannot trust any person who pretends to know everything and to always be right. That is the perspective of someone who will be blind to incoming information that could uplift and expand, clarify their models of reality. Ironically, the loudest and most confident people in Irish politics - overwhelmingly the Establishment parties in government and ‘opposition’ - are in fact those we should listen to least. While those who speak seldom and quietly, carefully, due to not being totally sure if they are correct - these are the people most likely to make the necessary adjustments with evidence, logic and experience to have an accurate mental map of reality in terms of what is real and what we should do about it. Yet these people are often cowed and impressed by the confidence of the arrogant and never-self-questioning. Ireland must find a balance between questioning ourselves and ALWAYS keeping an open mind to the possibility that we are mistaken about even things very fundamental and dear to us - and yet on the other hand also committing ourselves to standing on our instincts, to say that for now this is what I’m believing and until further notice I will argue for it without fear. A key transformation in this landscape could be if enough people realise the government are always certain they’re right - they NEVER say ‘maybe’ or ‘I don’t know’ or ‘Our opponents might be right’ - and so they thus disqualify themselves from being taken too seriously. If the middle-ground of Irish voters can realise their self-questioning and uncertainty is a sign that they can be trusted better than the Establishment about what’s what, sanity rises.

Episode 120: Questions To Ask Irish Politicians
มุมมอง 9821 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Here are a dozen questions I would LOVE to hear Irish politicians asked. Alas it seems one of the requirements of being among those who get to ask the questions is that you don’t go too close to the core things we need to just say plainly in the faces of those so out of whack. If we can ask these simple but hilariously outrageous questions to our ‘representatives’ so busy running the country in...

Welcome to Diaspora Irish (DI), a new initiative to defend Ireland from the unprecedented attacks on her heritage, liberty and sovereignty - by gathering the power of the 3 million Irish citizens residing outside Ireland, and using it to bring justice in the coming election; which will be early 2025 at the latest but probably sometime in late 2024. How would you feel if your children were removed from your life based on malicious lies and negative opinions? I have asked that question to campaigners on my doorstep years ago and they literally ran away. Sounds funny I know but on a serious note they failed to address my question. If politicians are supposed to represent the citizens them surely their actions must reflect the wishes of those citizens. Thanks for raising these issues.

    Ireland is doing fairly well. The big issue is housing. There are lots of legal migrants here because they are needed. Irish people no longer raise their kids to be happy with a minimum wage job. An irish person would view a job cleaning offices at night or working on a trawler or in a boning hall or wiping bums in a nursing home as a stop-gap until they get something better, if they would even consider such a job. We raise our kids to go to college or a good trade or business. If you find Irish on foreign building sites now they will be technical specialists or QSs not bricklayers. We are a wealthy country now and people from less-advantaged countries come here just like we went to richer countries, and still do, to find work and better themselves. Many immigrants are well-qualified of course, but regardless we have to get used to foreigners here, it is an economic necessity. The irony of asking Irish migrants to stop migration.. it would do harm to our economy, our image, and our self-respect.

    • @rendezvouswithjamiemcglue
      @rendezvouswithjamiemcglue หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sean_d I appreciate your comment, my friend, and I used to share similar views about how economies function. But I would now disagree with the idea that immigration is needed: usually it is not needed, or else how would societies ever have evolved and grown? Even with a stable population, there are always enough people to do the worse jobs, and happy to do so - unless the state distorts the economy as we see in Ireland and all through the world today. My view is that Austrian Economics is the most accurate school, and it diverges wildly from the conventional wisdom we learn about economics in school. If the Irish state allowed free markets to naturally do what they do, wages would organically rise for any job that needed doing and which not enough people wanted to do. In fact, this may be the main reason mass immigration has become the norm in Europe: it keeps wages down so that the big funders of elections can maximise their profits sustainably. Ireland with libertarian/free market capitalism would be self-sufficient.
