How the Harry Potter HBO REBOOT can bring back the magic
I think we've all heard that HBO Max is doing a Harry Potter Reboot. Today I'm diving into how I think it can be successful. There's plenty that can go wrong, but if they focus on some key areas, maybe they can bring back the magic.

Something that annoys me is the invisibility cloak and its multiples! Ron makes it absolutely clear in the first movie that there are SEVERAL invisibility cloaks, but later on we find out that its one of the deathly hallows, and theres only one. Was it a big cloak that got split into several smaller ones and engorgio-ed to be normal cloak sized? Are the other cloaks just regular cloaks with invisibility or Disillusionment charms on them?

The trace is not a plot hole. It only detects magic being cast around an underage wizard, not the caster. Thus, kids in adult wizards families such as the Weasley trigger the trace everytime probably. But because there adults in the house, the ministry cannot know whether the caster of the spell was an adult or a kid, so they do not intervene. And this is why Harry can't do it at the Dursley's. Since he's surrounded by muggles, there is no reason to believe anyone else but him cast the spell. It's not a matter of "privilege" more than a "benefit of doubt". As for Hermione, when she trained at home it was before the first year in Hogwarts. There is a tolerance on this rule for kids before their first year I believe.

But wait... you do talk.. all the time. Whenever you check something, when your pokemon learns a move or levels up, when they evolve, when asked a question or given a list or reading a Pokedex entry, etc. That's what I always figured. I mean who the hell would be saying "it's crammed full of Pokemon books!"?

Murder DOES split the soul every time. It says so in the books. If the piece of soul is moved into an object and sealed inside, that object becomes a horcrux. If the piece of soul is not removed from the body, the split or tear can be repaired through remorse. Before you ask, justified homicide is not murder and does not split the soul the same way. Potions master assisted suicide would also not split the soul.

As a fan of Dragon Ball, I found the Harry Potter movies using beam struggles cool. Priori Incantatum was not the spells of Harry and Voldemort meeting, anyway. It was Voldemort's wand regurgitating the last spells used. The spell version is Prior Incantato btw, a spell we don't see in the movies, and it lets the caster see the very last spell cast by the wand Prior Incantato is used on. It's why fanfiction has its characters do something called "clearing the wand" whenever they cast dubious spells by casting several innocuous spells in succession.

One thing you didn't mention is music. I don't think any musical theme has ever captured the essence of a story as well as Hedwig's Theme did for Harry Potter. John Williams also came up with a lot of other great themes for Harry Potter that were never used by the three later composers, who themselves never wrote a single iconic theme between them. That is an area where the later films completely dropped the ball in my opinion. If they were smart they would license John Williams' music, but I'm sure they won't. So they will need an incredibly talented composer to have a hope at making something even a fraction as good.

The dream theory and Dumbledoor's reply are actually true for real life we live in, so I think its just a mention to that. Saying that reality is a dream that happens within your consciousness is not to be disregarded as "its not real", thats the only way reality can exist. We all have had the thought "How come there is something rather than nothing?" What if there isn't anything, but a dream.

rowling definitely knew where snape's character arc begun and ended, since alan rickman was informed in-order to more accurately portray snape in the movies, and the books weren't finished by time the movies started being produced EDIT: i actually also subscribe to the theory from the supercarlinbrothers that suggest the room of requirement was hinted at even earlier than goblet, harry gets lost while wandering around under the invisibility cloak, and seems to keep looping back on himself, then when hiding from snape and filch in a convenient classroom, it just so happens to have the mirror in it, the whole thing with the RoR is needing to walk past it 3 times for it to appear, so dumbledore wasn't storing the mirror in some random classroom-- he was storing it in the RoR

I wanna know what was the deal with Dumbledore revealing to McGonagall in the start of the series about the fact that he has a scar above his left knee or whatever, that's an exact map of the London Underground, because that never came up again. How did he obtain such an intricate scar? Also, the fact that it's specifically a map replica. Is it so that he has some sort of point of reference when he's chilling in London? Why does he have a map of a Muggle transport system carved into his knee???

For Hermione, it only just occurred to me that students aren't given the rule that they aren't allowed to use magic outside of school until the END of the year. We know that the Ministry deliberately overlooks the accidental wandless magic children do before going to school, so perhaps the Ministry allows First-Years some leeway before they go to school. Especially with Muggle-Borns, since one can imagine how unbelievably excited they would be to discover they can do magic. They might let it slide and give additional information to muggle parents to introduce magic and just ask for caution.

Rita Skeeter is actually crucial to why everything goes to shit after Book 4. Her libel against Harry destroyed his credibility to the Wizarding World. Fudge was shown to care for Harry before the end of Book 4, but her writing wrecked his opinion of Harry, coupled with his desire to cling to power and comfort, resulting in refusing to believe Harry about Voldemort. Fudge's smear campaign was easily accepted by the wizarding community due to Rita's groundwork. Also, people probably liked her because she was a charming asshole. She was likely not a rowling stand-in due to her physical appearance having transphobic descriptions and rowling being rowling. Hermione is rowling's self-admitted stand-in.

About the number of students... I don't know how it works in UK but here in Italy students are divided into multiple "sections" not to overcrowd every classroom. So you can have 150 students in the first year, divided into 4/5 groups of 37/30 students each. That means you can estimate 100/150 students graduates every year (taking in account that some students could fail and repeat an year). So, if a wizard has a longevity of a muggle, it means 60 years on average after graduation. It means that you will have approximately 6000/9000 wizards alive that graduated from every school. So, if you assume that there are 4/5 schools every country, it means approximately 1.5/2million wizards only in Europe.

50:00 this actually makes sense since the wizarding community seems to make up such a tiny fraction of the human race, and it actually works for how close-knit the communities can be and how everyone knows everyone and can trace their family lines. What doesn't make sense, when looking at it this way, is how a community with only a couple thousand people in one country can have a whole government system modeled after the British Parliament that must staff as many people as it oversees. With that few people in one community, why do we need a multi-department government with more seats than constituents?
