I love how the 4 albums are named after Greek gods of wind. But they had lyrics like “and when all your ziggurats have crumpled down” witch are temples from ancient Mesopotamia. Different cultures in songs make things so beautiful

As someone who isn't religious and doesn't know much about any religions in general, The Oh Hellos are still one of my favorite bands of all time. I enjoy these songs purely from the way they've crafted them and I may miss out on a lot of the incredible meanings behind lines because of it, but there's such a strong narrative in every song that I don't need to know the stories that lead to the songs. And as an LGBT+ person who has spent a long time running from religion as it's been used against me, I find these songs almost therapeutic, a comfortable middle ground.

I can't stop picturing a Genshin impact animatic to this about Zhongli. Him becoming distant from his role to Liyue and wanting to leave, he's being haunted by his regrets of the Archon war, the way he treated the adepti- mainly Xiao, and so many of the past in general. Then it ends with Tartaglia showing up in Liyue and the Archon quest starts.

This song gives me such a strong image of a young woman/ her village preparing for the classic "feed the virgin bride to the dragon/ kraken/ lindwurm" ritual. Its such an addictive combo of folksy and Eldritch

As someone who has a fear of change and also a fear of forgetting my past this song is really comforting. It shows that change is alright and that it will all end up ok in the end. It reminds that even though i have changed a lot and so have other things that doesnt necessarily mean its a bad thing. It reminds me that things may seem bad at some points but it will change and thats alright.

i was about nine years old when hurricane harvey hit texas, not young enough to forget it but not old enough to really be able to deal with everything that was happening. it was the first time i think i ever felt really afraid. not just scared, but afraid.

This song came to me when I needed it the most. I'm in my twenties, saying goodbye to my student life, looking for jobs, family breaking appart. Everything that was familiar and reassuring to me is disappearing and I'm going into the unknown, scared and anxious. But this song appeared in front of me, telling me "Everything you thought you knew will fall appart but you will BE ALRIGHT", and I took it as a sign. And it was. It is.
