Recently the lyrics clicked in my head and I started becoming less scared of the dark…! I’ve been terrified of the dark my whole life but rather than the lyrics reflecting my state of mind suddenly it’s like they explained it…? Kinda? Idk, but it’s helped significantly. The idea that no, the terrors truly are just in my head and that the dark isn’t hiding some monstrosity, the room hasn’t changed just because it’s dark. I’m not in my bedroom where I have my Christmas lights always up, I’m staying somewhere else. Usually I’d sleep with a light on throughout the whole night but thanks to this song last night I managed to actually sleep in complete darkness and actually sleep well. It’s strange to me to sleep in a pitch black room, but I feel less……. confined to my fears lately? I don’t know, oh well! It’s a huge improvement!
