I usually don't write much markings on my scores. I trust the performer's flair for finding places where to play softer or rubato, etc.. except when it is vital to the piece storytelling. I think it is a mark of respect and trust to an eventual performer.
The more a phrase respects grammatical conventions, the less it becomes expressive.
An example : « My wallet has been stolen. » vs « My wallet ? Stolen ! »
I think the same applies in music to some extent. It's necessary to know the rules but I am striving to find an equilibirum between expressiveness and the rigidity of those rules.

A piece that I wrote to experiment with keyboard accompaniment texture that ended up way longer than expected. Do tell me if you want more of this, I have some ideas. This could be the base for a symphony like piece. I like the "ear-worminess" of the theme ! #originalcomposition #counterpoint #keyboard #orchestral #orchestra

Little Prelude & Fugue on "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
It's just constant sixteenth notes without barely any cadences. It's tiring to listen to you can barely hear any development of material. The difference between this and Bach is that every note Bach writes serves a purpose and has a point. This is just plugging notes wherever they fit, making like a musical spaghetti
I really like this. Very well-written.
heartbreakingly beauiful
could i buy the PDF from you? Id like to play this on the piano.
I have no plans of putting my pieces behind a paywall. I'll provide a PDF soon
Dear autore, had you learned the strict style? You can somteimes make an illusions of Bach's, and Barocco-era music in all, that you make in process of imitation of pieces or phrases, or just transponation their (autores of Barocco) music. What is about own style, independent, but which had grown from milk of Barocco-era autorem?
Can you make a fugue explanation video iam a piano student but i love organ polyphonic, fugues i love Bach
Nice work. Some parts are not playable unless you have rachmaninoff hands
Very nice! Just one comment - the second half of bar 6 sounds a bit boring, imo moving the a leap to E half a bar earlier would have broken the rhythm a bit in a chopinesque fashion and be very effective. Thus you'd have an extra half a bar to prepare for bar 8
Sounds beautiful but No sheet 😢 i love playing these
A very sweet melody. It actually fills me with joy lol
I'm so glad it does! thanks for commenting.
It sounds a lot like an allemande you should continue it.
I want to write it and try to make it into a longer piece, that cool with you?
Love it, only one thing bothers me a little: starting in measure 7 the countersubject in the bass doesnt fully complete in measure 8 but is altered, i personally want to hear the original very bad. I might write all of this down and try to make it into a longer piece, is that okay?
Yes ! Feel free to try.
I keep returning to this, what is written so far is best voice leading ive heard a modern composer write in a while.
"PromoSM"
Splendid!
Incredibly incredibly impressive. And as always with your work, this style and use of interesting features is so unique to you. How I wish this could be played on a real piano/harpsichord by a talented player one day
For some reason I feel less and less satisfied with the computer audio so yes, that would be awesome!
Are you french?
Nice energetic theme, 2nd part with 1st parts inverted theme. Remembers me the structure of Bachs gigas in his keyboard suites and toccattas, which are in fact fugues. Sometimes your fugues are a little too overwhelming for my brain, so fast I cant follow all the nice counterpoint and modulations going on. Being computer performed does not help for my easier counterpoint assimilation. Anyway I listen to all your compositions I can find, I learn a lot.
I m happy you enjoy the pieces anyway! I will try to upload simpler compositions more often. I am glad to see my compositions offer value to some people! Thank you for your feedback.
Very nice !
I m glad you appreciated, thanks for commenting
Ooooh wow I loooove it so much !
I am very happy you do!
This is unbelievably good wow!! Uniquely your harmonies and so so good!
Please convince Andras Schiff to play this fugue. Its too good to have it performed by Musescore only.
I wish omg
Having Schiff playing one of my pieces, what a consecration it would be !
I'd classify it as an example of the gallant style. From structural point of view, it seems to be a rondo. Very nice piece.
Nice barock style, I assume AFEAB is your name? Lol
This subject was given by the group owner at the time see musescore.com/groups/short-fugues/discuss/5096430
This is a big imitation mash that cannot even be called an approximation of baroque. Please get the hell out of this mess.
Gosh...i love this
I am very glad you do !
How did you get this to sound so soft in musescore? its not just putting it piano ive tried that, what did u use?
It's a soundfont but I'm afraid I can't remember the name
This project will be great! Id say this is MORE than a miniature! Its a fully fledged movement harmonically and structurally!
great compostion
lovely as always!
Great work.
Sounds nice. Reminds me of schubert. My question is why do you choose to be homophonic when you've clearly proved your a great contrapuntalist? What about trying to write a double or a triple fugue? Why do you want to write 100 miniature pieces?
What a truly dumb thing to say… 1. Why did Bach (or any other baroque composer occasionally) choose to write homophonically sometimes…? 2. There hasn’t been a single composer throughout all of history that has composed absolutely everything using the same texture, because that would be boring.
Please turn this into a cantata sinfonia or a concerto, or I''ll have to do it myself haha
Really ? please feel free to try, i ve got my hands pretty full at the moment.
This has come a LONG way since your work 4 years ago--I'd originally left a comment about getting more familiar with Baroque idioms but you've really nailed it here! There are some places I might do differently, but nothing major--the first couple of measures I feel like stays a LITTLE too long on the same note, just maybe like a beat or so longer than it feels it should before it opens up... something I'm just not getting behind on measure 6 with the approach of the D-C appoggiatura, would maybe rather it wasn't approached by another C that's longer and on a strong beat? The target of appoggiaturas are strongest when you avoid the note, so it maybe feels a little unnecessary because you already landed there? Also, the sequence going from measure 10 into 11 feels like it needs the bass to go down instead of staying on C--very dominant-y lol. I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the piece, but other than those types of minor things, it's great!
Thank you for this detailed feedback, Im glad you enjoyed it despite the minor gripes you had.
did you use a soundfont for this or is it played by someone? It sounds so realistic!
I don't remember the soundfont maybe Chateau Grand or Yamaha C5, not sure
Listening to this again now, I might be wrong but to me it sounds like there’s an influence from the opening of Bach’s cantata ‘Wiederstehe doch der Sünde’ in the violin parts of this work at certain points! So beautiful and see if you can see what i mean?!
this piece fills me with so much joy! i feel very blessed to stumble upon a piece as beautiful as this! immediately subscribing!
Now that i have listened to a bunch of Your original work, I have some constructive (I hope) comments. 1st off: You know the technicalities of music theory, and every thing checks out that way ,,, no faux pas,... i like the enthusiasm in Your pieces, and You never seem to run out of batteries. On the other hand, your work tends to lack an interesting motif, and a thoughtful and emotional breathing story in the development of such a theme. You do come up with some interesting ideas but tend to drop them after 2 measures and move onto something else. In my mind your pieces bear a resemblance to a minestrone soup, with a large variety of vege's , 15 types of carrots, celery, and a plethora of root veges, combined with about 50 different kinds of beans , some cantaloupe melon, asparagus, cashew nuts, potato chunks, pickles, ice cream some bits of a sofa, and some bolts and nuts from a motor cycle thrown in for good measure... well NOT so good measure... I am certainly convinced you can write music,... but the tough part is not quantity,... it is quality... don't write to impress others, write because you have a story to tell,... more like a picture illustrating a story than a wall paper with the same smattering of flowers scattered every where. you will find that the end comes right after you have finally culmanated in a working out of built tensions, and there is a release point. I never feel Your endings approaching,... its more like You've said to yourself :"well I guess that's enough now,.. I am bored", and you slowly just peter out to a stand still. That said, this one, is a bit more consistent throughout, with the slightly interesting contrary motion of rising and falling scales simultaneously, but it is still a hackneyed phrase, and all You would have to do to change it is reverse direction briefly somewhere along, or put a few quarter notes in the bass to make it a little more unusual. So I am looking forward to the next piece that is both technically virtuous, and also hooks us into really feeling the piece because you have found an interesting theme to develop, and let us sink our imagination's teeth into. Keep up the good work ! ! !
Can I ask for the score link?
Its brilliant the top and bottom note of every arpeggios act as two melodies connected by the arpeggios
someone finally saw it !
I am blown away by this piece. It is very well made. the theme is so memorable. I really liked the passage in Bb Major at bar 66, it was surprising The sequence at bar 79-82 was very expressive, the following cadence was relieving. Finally, the minor plagal cadence was welcome and very pleasant to hear. Your work deserve to cross the ages. Well done !
Wooaw!! Congrats man, that’s amazing!! Is it a real orchestral recording?
I am happy you enjoyed! It's not a real orchestral recording though, but MuseHub soundfonts are getting pretty good
a perfect balance between bach and mozart, in my particular opinion, the volume of the keyboard is low. a very interesting piece
Definitely in your distinctive style! A lot of great rhythmic-ness here!
What are your most/least favorite passages ?
I really like bar 87

Sorry?! Where did he say that he’s trying to compose in the style of Bach? He never did. So back your pretentious ass out of this otherwise positive comments section you absolute weirdo. If I want to hear Bach I’ll listen to Bach. I’m a fan of composers of pastiche and counterpoint such as ‘Student of Counterpoint’ in their own right, not because they sound like anyone else 🤦♂️
People just like you are the reason why ‘classical music’ and baroque music are still thought of as old and stuffy, despite being vibrant, modern, colourful and accepting, which you can clearly see on several pastiche youtube channels such as this one.
The only egregious thing here is your rudeness and utter cheek to comment on ‘contrapuntal errors’ (which dont exist, music in principle cannot have errors, it is just sound) while you have 0 uploads on your channel. Bach would be ashamed to see his face used on the profile picture of someone so unkind. Bach was a good man who famously would break every possible rule.
Glad to see the bully has deleted his TH-cam account haha
What are your most/least favorite passages ?
This is a really nice work! The perfect blend of simplicity as well as more interesting and engaging moments, and a nice combination of styles too.
Interesting piece, it sound like a somewhat "modern Bach", even if I don't like to compare authors compositions with others ones, but, well, I guess we all have inspiration from somewhere obviously… Particularly the 0:48 passage is very smooth and lovely to me :) nice job
Thank you for sharing your impressions on the piece
