Don't want to be a pedant but Debbie wasn't Martha's only child , but was eventually the only remaining child.
Nailed it
Please do Vertigo and talk about the makeover scene
Ooohhhh great suggestion! Absolutely amazing movie!
Wonderful movie and one of John Wayne's and John Ford's best. This video explains a lot of the subtle parts of the movie. One question I have always had was why were Ethan's brother living there and how did they make a living? However, that makes little difference because the movie has so much to convey.
It’s really so good! Excellent question…I guess I just always assumed he was a Homesteader who moved west to lay claim to land, but who knows. It must have been such a hard life at the time! So glad you enjoyed the video ☺️
CineStructure, feel free to express your opinion but your arrogance and ignorance is revealed.
Thank you for the comment! 😊 Your engagement with our channel helps us grow and we really appreciate that! Have a lovely day ✨
Such a good video! So, if the color of the hotel exterior is based on b&w photos containing (probably) false or exaggerated colors, perhaps that’s why the hotel exterior’s color is so eye catching (to me).
Thank you so much!!! Agreed…it’s like a cotton candy wonderland! I love the aesthetic of this film! ✨
Well done thank you
Thank you! And we sincerely appreciate your watching! 😊
Somehow The Searchers did not get a single Oscar nomination in any category. There are so many superlative elements in this film, cited in this video, that it makes one wonder what the Academy members were thinking at the time. Hollywood made it up to John Wayne years later and gave him the Oscar for Best Actor in True Grit. True Grit is a fine movie and Wayne was very good in it, but his performance in The Searchers is one for the ages. Wayne was also excellent in his final film, The Shootist, 1976. John Ford won the Oscar for Best Director four times and none of the films were westerns: The Informer(1935), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), How Green Was My Valley (1941), and The Quiet Man (1952). The cinematographer, Winton Hock, won the Oscar for his camera work in a John Ford film with Wayne, The Quiet Man, in 1952 but was overlooked for great work in The Searchers. At the time, Hollywood seems to have regarded westerns as not serious art the same way they ignored Hitchcock and never gave him an Oscar for Best Director. Hitch made suspense movies and they were not serious either, according to the thinking. Thinking, as we know, is hard.
Shocking, right? It’s like horror today (and even some of the more incredible arthouse and subtly haunting horror of the past). Some genres are just frequently overlooked and it’s such a shame!
This is a brilliant assessment of the film, whoever you are. So perceptive. Good to see the Duke as a Confederate for once. "A misplaced man in a world that's moving on without him".........tell me about it. "We are all searchers"........absolutely.
That means so very much, truly! We loved this film and really try to think about the undercurrents of everything we watch. Movies are such holistic experiences and it’s so great to get comments like yours and feel like we are doing some justice to these works of art. 😊
Great video! I really enjoy this movie, not only impressed by the landscape of monument valley but also touched by the nuanced characters. I'm an Asian, in which the topic of racism is not so sensitive as in America. But the theme of the war between the white and the Indians really let me think hard. I've watched the film over and over for a month since i first saw it and for each time i could find new details and i always want to tear when seeing Ethan lift Debbie in the end. Really masterpiece and one of my favorite movies
It truly is a masterpiece! We are so glad that you enjoyed it! We were so fortunate to visit Monument Valley a few years back and it’s such a magical and special landscape ✨
A true talent who has left such an enduring mark on visual history. Such an inspiration! I didn’t know he was married to Catharine O Hara! That makes me so happy
Right!? Absolutely perfect couple! The story of how they ended up dating is so cute too! Bo Welch is such a talented artist…so lucky to get to enjoy his work 🖤
The simple fact that you even know whom Sir Ken Adam IS--is wonderfully mind-blowing!! OH how I wish you'd have some many more and broader essays about the production end of film...as it is sorely lacking! I hope very much you reach as many of the goals in life that you possibly can! MARVELOUS!! Be good to yourselves, each other and those and the things that cherish you, whatever they/it might be...and embrace life as best you can--and it will all return to you in one way or another, eventually...as good karma usually does!!
Two the both of you...CONGRATS for finding one another--all but by accident!! Which, is, how I "stumbled" across this channel! And it is EXCEPTIONAL!! I have worked in "entertainment" for around 45 year (yep...I'm not a "youngster"...well, at least at heart anyway!) and like to find any and every type of "channel" that is devoted to film (first one I ever worked on was a little thing that at the time had no idea would eventually become world famous--something called: "Blade Runner"! Though I had already worked on commercials and TV--yes, THAT "thing"! lol) I find informative, thoughtful, well presented and illuminating. Yours hits on all the "buttons"...and then some. I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with what you've done here !! And it is all but a shame you haven't done SOOO much better here for views and subscribers...when so much other "schlock" can garner ridiculous amounts of both...when yours is so superbly presenting and done!! BRAVO/BRAVA!! What makes it all the more unfortunate, is that you seem to have put your projects/videos somewhat aside and post so little nowadays! Saddening when something so upper tier in quality, knowledge, and information goes unrewarded--and sadly, that is far to often the case in life in general--and especially on You Tube which is flooded with so much lesser quality clap-trap! But as the saying goes: "Ya get what ya pay for" which is what far too many who seem to have to have lost the ability to actually THINK and eat a "full meal" as opposed to "fast food"...and not for thought!! Whereas, in instances such as your own, it is put out there for the love of it and fulfilling nourisnment! And few things--in whatever part of life that might be--are as noble and worthwhile! So just wanted to let you know, that from someone inside the "entertainment industry" (also worked in music as well) you are HIGHLY appreciated and regarded! Wish I could assist you in your desires of where/how to achieve your objectives/goals!! Nevertheless--MUCH good luck and karma! May your lives combined together, no matter what else...continue to bring you love, joy, happiness and mutual enlightenment along your paths! Keep Believing!

Simply the very best!
I was captivated byHero for weeks. It's almost perfect 9.5/10 Why not 10/10 you might ask? I saw some errors in the scenes.
Pobody's nerfect!
Duke-land in his highest moment with John Wayne at his peak. God bless him for all the joy he gave us. He should have won the Oscar here.
Great film
It really is!
propaganda done right
Now days racism has to be dragged into everything it's a dam shame 😕😕😕
Unfortunately it’s just inherent with a movie of its time and subject that it would have these aspects. It’s not that we feel the movie is “racist,” but it’s certainly apparent and on full display that the attitudes and ideals of the time were. I’d rather be respectful to indigenous people by calling a spade a spade than pretend it wasn’t reality.
I hate the ubiquity of digital colour grading in films.
Super Film 👍🏻 sieht auch heute noch verdammt gut aus.
One of my all-time favorite action films! It’s such a fun ride and the comedic timing is on point!

Where can I find these behind the scenes footage at 2:13?
I believe it’s from the extras on my dvd.
great job
Thank you so much! We’ve taken an extended break, but new content is coming! We’re working hard on it now ☺️
Super ⭐
Thank you! So glad you liked it!!!!
This video was delightful.
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it!
Perfect
That’s how we feel about this film, so that’s a hell of a compliment! Thank you so much!
Great video! Couldn't shut it off.
Thank you so much! That really means the world to us!
The best western
Truly an epic film! I’m grateful we finally had an excuse to watch it!
Ethan and Martha had Debbie…
This film was far better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, in my opinion.
I love Crouching Tiger, but agreed. The impact of this story, for me, was just so much greater.
“Powerful visual composition” was a beautiful way to describe it. The cinematography, the colours, the choreography, and the unique way it ultimately told three stories (your version, my version, and the truth) made this one of the best. Underrated, wish I caught this on the big screen.
Same…I completely missed the theater run but I keep an eye out for random showings…hopefully one of these days! Thank you so much for the compliment…so glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Watched it last night for the first time. Great film and while ill always favour sergio leone westerns this is probably the best american western and wayne is just fantastic in this.
I’m so glad you got a chance to enjoy it…it really is an amazing film!
I love this movie so much. It is my second favorite movie of all-time.
I can certainly see why…I’m not a lover of westerns and this had me from the beginning. That said, “Horizon: An American Saga” looks like it’s going to be phenomenal!
To me the inside of the derelict always looked like it was sweating
It does! I’m originally from Florida and cannot even imagine the humidity in there for the environment to look that way!
Bo Welch is a production designer who worked on a lot of Tim Burton and Barry Sonnenfeld productions. He made his feature directorial debut on the 2003 adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Cat In The Hat and the results of that movie were not well-received
Absolutely! Did you enjoy the video? We delved into his entire magical career. ☺️
Somehow i feel connections to the Dune movies from villeneuve...
I can totally see that!
This has to be the most underrated movie ever.
I just cannot understand how it was SO missed by SO many! It’s absolutely brilliant!
@@CineStructure It was overshadowed by Crouching Tiger.
@@DDD11239true…it really got drowned out. I love Crouching Tiger, but it didn’t have the impact on me that Hero did.
Movies are my biggest passion, have been for years. I've never seen anything close to Hero.
@@jjnewbold💯
I just love this movie so much! No other movie I’ve ever scene has created such a “cozy” environment while being about a murder! I love watching rear window late at night when I’m already a bit sleepy. I don’t know why, but it feels like my mind is under a warm blanket, the epitome of comfortable. Just looking in that backyard full of lovely little details gives me that feeling. It’s like a perfect cozy world, something that only films from that era are capable of displaying. I don’t know why and what it is, but I love it. I will always remember watching that movie the first time and how it made me feel so embraced by comfort. It was around 2 pm at night, my wife was sleeping besides me in our super comfortable bed and I felt like a good old movie I haven’t seen yet. That’s how I discovered Rear Window and I love recreating the cozy feeling of watching it the first time!
I completely know what you mean! There are some films that, no matter how many times you’ve seen them so you know exactly what to expect…they are just…you said it perfectly: cozy!
@@CineStructureI actually just picked this up on DVD, randomly, and can't wait to watch it
OVERRATED movie! Life Aquatic, Royal Tennenbaum and Rushmore always be best Wes Anderson film ever!
My heart! 💔 No I kid…we are all entitled to our opinion. I am a lover of all things Wes Anderson. I even loved “The French Dispatch,” which seemed like an unpopular opinion, sadly. Royal Tenenbaums was my OG intro to WA. I used to live near the house in Harlem…absolutely ADORE that film!
Had to watch this movie for a class. What a great movie
Right!? Absolute perfection! ✨
I can't believe you just get so little views. Definitely deserves millions of views.
Awwww that means so much…it’s on us. We need to make more content!!!
😃🙏💯
So glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
This video is AMAZING...
Thank you so much! This is the first one I personally edited myself (my other half is the editor) and I am REALLY proud of it! Your comment means so much to me!
After having gone over some of the negative comments , I suddenly have a sort of Ethan feeling that I am uncomfortable in a world who doesn’t see the magnificence of this work of art and I want to wander… Overrated ? Disappointing ? Annoying music ? I surely agree with the ironic remark of Gordon… « Everyone has the right to be wrong »…
love seeing non cis men talk about this movie
I love this comment so much - the narrator 🖤
Guarantee you are in fact man. Only men use CIS
da lobby boy was so good that da jon got trapped in the hotel, and to escape he had to find another jon to fall in love with himself as da boy so he could be himself again. you may find it hard to believe da lobby boy from chaco canyon is forever yum, but hes that good.
He’s a great actor! I’ve been seeing him cast more and more lately and it’s so wonderful!
Really great analysis. I learned some new things and new perspectives. I didn't realize the tenant down there was named miss hearing aid. One thing though....the narrator defined voyeurism, which clarified that voyeur is not what the character Jefferies was. There was no sexual component in his motivation to watch.
Thank you so much!
This is so great! ‘Rear Window’ is my favorite film and I learned so much from this.
Thank you so so much! This is why we do this, so your comment really makes our day! 🖤🥂
