Krazy4KVs Podcast Ep. 7: BUYING AND SELLING!
Lol put gates around your rig while driving had me rolln.
I've been guilty of it. Driving around and hitting a crazy line and putting gates there. Can be fun to repeat with that vehicle but also fun to place them and see if you can make them work!
Lots of good info in this video. Thank you.
No problem! Thanks for watching
I think it's pretty tough to compare tires before break in, but you did the best you could. I appreciate the video. I just got a set of azteks, but haven't run them yet. One thing I like to do with Proline, is buy predator for the front for grip, and g8 for the back for stability and push.
It is tough for sure. I'll be continuing to run them and see what I think! That's not a bad idea to run different compounds!
Thank You! I've been looking at these for weeks.. Exocage put out a review also. I think they are going to be a good tire. They need to be tested on ramps and lines with the same variables. Broken in also. Tires tests are tough.. it take so much time.
Yeah I just don't have any interest in creating ramps or anything like that. Won't make a habit out of testing tires. I just wanted to make sure they could do some basic lines while proving they are doable.
I have an ascent but like what Mr.C from crawler canyon says, the less redcat in an ascent the better it is. I put a gold Amazon $30 3gear dig box in my ascent. It also has 18%treal overdrive and soa with 4 link front, brass portal covers.i fliped the rear shocks so that the shock body weight would be unsprung and so that it would not leak
Haha yep! Mines had big money spent on it and it's decent but wouldn't do it again
the Aztecs probably have belting and ribbing and a thick carcass which makes them not conform as well. The injora comp pins can’t be beat for the money. The s5 xhx pins have like 15% to 20% more forward drive than the s4 comp pins. but the S5’s get greasy above 85*F like predator compound does
I wanna try some pins out. Looking for a tire for my class 2 ish comp series in the winter. 5" or less, no other tire restrictions
pro line or dont hit your line...because they just make a dang good tire
I got the predator compound Azteks and compared them to Tusks. It’s a solid 9.5 weather permitting where the Tusks is a 9.7 cold or hot. But the predator compound seems to hold up better.
Good to know! Tusks are tough to beat. Terrain/ climate make a big difference though
So u would take Trenchers over Krawlers?
Never had trenchers
@@krazy4kvsrc44 must’ve misunderstood you
Tusks, crawlers then trenchers IMO.for overall performance
Thanks for sharing the test. Maybe it would be great to put some permanent gates for future testing, imo 😅. Nice video
I don't own this property unfortunately haha
Less of a test and more of a first impression. Tire tests are naturally unscientific. I wish I had the time, resources, and money to have lab-like conditions but it's just not feasible but I tried to eliminate many of the variables I could control (wheels, foams, truck, etc). I DO need to get some dang sidewalk chalk so I can mark my gates 🤦♂️ Appreciate ya watching!
I wouldn't bother with the sintered gears, one good bind or bump and they're done with brushless power. Waste of time imo
I gotta see it for myself
This a good trail rig I just think it requires too much money involved in making a crawler and after the money spent it’s just decent, but I’ll power to you cool looking rig
All for the 'Tube 🤘
Up here in Upstate SC, we have to go to the local hole early morning or it’s like a zoo
Your drivetrain seems a lil loud. And yes shift clamp rings work in narrow 2.2s. Dlux fab also makes knuckles just make sure you purchase an extra arm. The knuckles with a brass 777 gave me perfect 60 /40 bias. Where did find my grams ole beach hat?!?! Lol The Dlux knuckles are a great price at around $54 if I recall correctly
Haha I know right? Didn't realize it was all misshaped until editing 🤷🏻♂️
Looks awesome without the lid, good choice. As far as rc alone vs. w/ others I break more stuff in a group trying to show off. It’s more immersive alone and I really get into slow crawling hard lines.
It's a great looking "trail rig". I was out filming and when I got done, I noticed a couple sitting down on a rock watching me. Once I see them they smiled. I don't mind chatting with people, I just don't film them!
Yeah this was more of them picking one of the only spots with people that particular morning. I'm talking to myself filming tiny trucks, leave me alone! 😂
Great build!
Found your channel because of your gearing calculator! I just got a blue optic for myself, I'm going more u4 racer style for trails than a hardcore crawler for it though! Thanks for the calculator dude!
Not a problem. Shoot me an email if you have any ideas to make it better Also, mine will get that treatment as well. Just doing the crawler route first. I wanna torture test those stock gears 😈
where did you get your gear ratio app ?
I made it! Link in the description for the files. Video explanation for getting it working: th-cam.com/video/TH_V32n4U5k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=STLhznE8Ny796HaF
Will it work for all vanquish rc's
I should have most of their trucks covered. Just select your truck and it should prefill the stock parts
Freqeskins makes killer wraps at reasonable price
Dlux fab knuckles for scx10ii fit the optic just remember to order an extra arm to go with it! Just installed em n mine also shift 2.2 brass rings fit those wheels so u have some choices other than brake weights. A brass 777 would help ur bias. R u saying the diff ring and pinion are sintered not machined?
They were sintered. Machined now! I appreciate the tips. I'll see about getting some of that ordered although not interested in brass servos haha not my thing
Shift rc’s makes brass narrow 2.2 clamp rings that fit perfectly, just ordered a set for my riots
Dlux fabs scx10ii knuckles fit also just order an extra arm
@@user-ho5vm9rv1e yep, adds a lot of stress on the molded c job is the only downside
@@Zach.sarver and u think brake weights are better?
@@user-ho5vm9rv1e I have them on my optic with 2.2 and they work great
Thanks everyone! Best part of the videos is the feedback. Gonna checkout shifts and dlux
Also, monetize your channel, it starts to snowball as far as funds go, slowly at first but it picks up. Plus, TH-cam pushes your channel more as your audience grows.
Haha my RC hobby was worse before TH-cam (and baby) this has slowed me down. I'll monetize when I feel the time is right and I can be consistent and feel my videos are at a quality standard I expect when I watch someone. Editing is the biggest learning curve in it all
Congrats on the baby and the 1k subscribers . Glad to see your back.
Appreciate that!
Dlux Fab AR44 brass knuckles work great on the optic
Awesome! Good to know
I kinda like the transparent roof, I’m sure it’ll look good painted too. What’s the swivel base under the Crawler innovations block?
You will enjoy the paint job I went with them 😏 Rotating display stand on Amazon. "Rated for 22 lbs" but it doesn't like 7lb crawlers much. Was gonna make one but it was like $14 🤷🏻♂️
Amain's website calls the Optic an "Extreme Rock Crawler"....LOL! Very deceptive! of #AmainHobbies Can't wait to see it run again!
I imagine that's what VP provided. It wasn't bad stock, and has aggressive approach/departure angles but if the VRD doesn't have that same moniker, the Optic def shouldn't
Nice videos beautifull rigs what chassis is the second one like jeep orange ?
It was built by a guy out of Spain: asitrekcrawlrc on IG.
Did you vent the tires?
Yep! Always vent tires when mounting them up.
Appreciate the time you put into this.
Awesome Rick bro I'd be careful what you're listening to though you see how the voice changes in that you see what they're trying to imitate listen to that song bro see what they're trying to imitate I can tell you right now what they're trying to imitate
huh? I don't follow
Some rigs come with a chart in their book to help with this. Excited to see your work
Right some do but some may toss those, buy second hand or be cobbling parts together that the information is less than easy to find. Trx-4 has a spur/pinion chart and a stoplight system for what the stock system can handle. Ppl get no sense of what kind of ratio is good/bad. Want it to be a "one stop shop" although there will always be something missing from this program
Great job. This will be very useful.
Hope so! Don't be afraid to send some feedback
This was NEEDED, nice work! I’ve used the Marlin Crawler calculator several times on my full size through its’ ever-changing iterations
Oh I've never seen that! I'll check that out. See if there's any inspiration to be had
So this is what u been working on last few months! Much needed for many folks
Glad ur back man. I put 1.9 swampers on mine and liked em so much the cut n shut krawlers haven’t made it on yet! All assembled sitting there waiting too so… swampers much exceeded my expectations
Appreciate it! The 4.75" swampers? Those are a versatile tire
Looks solid! Always a challenge swapping stuff in field. Fun video man!
I was more worried about my sweat damaging the radio than losing parts
Oh geesh I got my optic weight the other day, it almost burned to the ground! Only thing left if the ESC was the heat sink
Unless I zoned out I didn't see or hear a size comparison on those new tires. They seemed to be larger and seemed to compensate well for the long wheelbase, minimizing and "belly scrub" or getting hung up. I noticed a few instances in the video where it looked like it was close to scraping, but didn't. very cool. I'd love to get one, but, just can't justify it right now... Keep up the good work.
That's my bad. Don't have the exact mm handy but they are 2.2" wheels with wdw cut n' shut bfg krawlers ~5.25" Thanks for the kind words!
I don't know if you mentioned it in the video or not, did you vent the tires? I believe they come unvented.. wonder if that will help traction before changing out inserts. Didn't see much tire conformity, but wasn't sure if that's because the inserts were hard or the tires were not vented. It'll probably hinder breakover even more, but was just curious.
I did not vent them. Right out the box I wanted to run it. The foams are REAL stiff. They would break in eventually and are good for trailing. Just not the most compliant out the box
Always gotta support the up and coming RC guys! Let me know if you want to try any of my tires on it 👍
Will do!! Appreciate it🤘
Welcome back, happy father’s day! The Optic, this is why I haven’t bought one yet, I’m not sure what it is or what i would build out of it. The steering seems to be a little on the short side, and the colors are hmm. The Yokohama panels look better on the black cage and vice versa. Its RTR so the electronics are throw away, i will probably get one eventually, but i think you have your work cut out to make it something it may not be. Anyway my vote is to make it a crawler. Flat skid, high clearance links, add weight low, IDK. Keep the videos coming, make me want to buy one 🤙🏼
Appreciate it! Same to you (if it applies haha). RIGHT? That's why I wanted to do this. See what ya'll think, get some viewer engagement and buy-in. We will see what the poll/comments result as but I will take a crack at crawler eventually regardless. Can't leave anything alone
Good to see ya Tim. Best wishes for you and the family.......
Appreciate it! Feels good to be back
Personally I would keep that as a trail truck and pick up something else for crawling. Or sell it for maybe a Phoenix Portal if you don't have one
Yeah I do think you're on to something. Got a couple Phoenixes but I wanna see what it will take to crawl. It will happen eventually but if y'all wanna see a more durable trail truck version, I'm here for it
I need one of those I voted stickers. I haven’t seen any proline treps but they are wicked tires in the full size world. Can’t go wrong with WDW cut and shuts though.
They look great! Just got them and they will make an appearance here shortly
I think the VFD Twin is a great idea. I bought one for mine already just haven’t installed it yet. I want to drive it close to stock first. Really wish someone would make some forward weight….other than that the rig looks fantastic in both liveries. Can’t wait to install all my upgrades. Freqeskins makes some great wraps and from my understanding he’ll do custom also. Pavilion Noir is another one I recommend for custom wraps. I been staring at this hobbywing R3 system on my bench for days now!
Just gotta use weight in the wheels. Brake weights or clamp rings. All rotating mass though
Hobby new hobbywing R3 system? Perfect candidate!
Hmmm I'll check it out. I have a decent spread of electronics but not that. I have never loved the Axe just because the proprietary connector
Congratulations on your first Fathers Day. Good to have you back.
Appreciate it buddy!!
Can you use the hd44 with the stock plastic knuckles?
Cannot say 100% but it's the same internals and the machines knuckles go on most (maybe all) of their straight axles. Give VP customer service a shout if concerned. They are usually very quick! 👍
Glad to see you back and everything is going well. I live on Evans. We should meet and run some lines. Water level is pretty high on the lake but I have another spot near by with more challenging obtacles.
That would be awesome! If you have IG, hit me up on there and I'd be down
Glad your back. I'm learning a lot.
Aren't we all? Haha that's the best part of RC and life in general is seeing how much I can cram into this tiny brain
Good to see ya tim........
And good to hear from ya! Appreciate ya!
