Welcome back, happy father’s day! The Optic, this is why I haven’t bought one yet, I’m not sure what it is or what i would build out of it. The steering seems to be a little on the short side, and the colors are hmm. The Yokohama panels look better on the black cage and vice versa. Its RTR so the electronics are throw away, i will probably get one eventually, but i think you have your work cut out to make it something it may not be. Anyway my vote is to make it a crawler. Flat skid, high clearance links, add weight low, IDK. Keep the videos coming, make me want to buy one 🤙🏼
Appreciate it! Same to you (if it applies haha). RIGHT? That's why I wanted to do this. See what ya'll think, get some viewer engagement and buy-in. We will see what the poll/comments result as but I will take a crack at crawler eventually regardless. Can't leave anything alone
I need one of those I voted stickers. I haven’t seen any proline treps but they are wicked tires in the full size world. Can’t go wrong with WDW cut and shuts though.
I don't know if you mentioned it in the video or not, did you vent the tires? I believe they come unvented.. wonder if that will help traction before changing out inserts. Didn't see much tire conformity, but wasn't sure if that's because the inserts were hard or the tires were not vented. It'll probably hinder breakover even more, but was just curious.
I did not vent them. Right out the box I wanted to run it. The foams are REAL stiff. They would break in eventually and are good for trailing. Just not the most compliant out the box
Yeah I do think you're on to something. Got a couple Phoenixes but I wanna see what it will take to crawl. It will happen eventually but if y'all wanna see a more durable trail truck version, I'm here for it
I think the VFD Twin is a great idea. I bought one for mine already just haven’t installed it yet. I want to drive it close to stock first. Really wish someone would make some forward weight….other than that the rig looks fantastic in both liveries. Can’t wait to install all my upgrades. Freqeskins makes some great wraps and from my understanding he’ll do custom also. Pavilion Noir is another one I recommend for custom wraps. I been staring at this hobbywing R3 system on my bench for days now!
Always gotta support the up and coming RC guys! Let me know if you want to try any of my tires on it 👍
Will do!! Appreciate it🤘
Good to see ya Tim. Best wishes for you and the family.......
Appreciate it! Feels good to be back
Subbed for your in depth insight. Thanks for the detailed thoughts
Thanks for watching! I can get a little long winded but I always appreciate too much detail vs reading of boxes and skipping technical details
Congratulations on your first Fathers Day. Good to have you back.
Appreciate it buddy!!
Hobby new hobbywing R3 system? Perfect candidate!
Hmmm I'll check it out. I have a decent spread of electronics but not that. I have never loved the Axe just because the proprietary connector

They look great! Just got them and they will make an appearance here shortly

Personally I would keep that as a trail truck and pick up something else for crawling. Or sell it for maybe a Phoenix Portal if you don't have one

Just gotta use weight in the wheels. Brake weights or clamp rings. All rotating mass though
