That last part strikes me so hard in my heart. I'm not a father but I can fully understand and comprehend wanting your child to be the one to survive something like a car accident and that being the only thing you're worried about as opposed to your own wellbeing, I'm in tears now because this song is so damn beautiful. It's honestly one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.

This song hits too close to home, I had a former classmate who was the victim of a DUI. He and his college friend were driving in their car with a baby, not sure whose she was. Then some drunken asshole crashed into them and my former classmate, his friend, and the baby all died. The only survivor was the drunkard. I hope he burns in hell.

Everytime I listen to this, it brings me back to the day my son passed away. I still wish I could trade places with him. I messed my life up, and he never got to even start his. He’d be 5 this April. I’ve watched him grow up in my dreams, and that is the only reason I can still sleep

Wow, the way that the band Famous Last Words makes you feel for the people the songs are about is crazy.

This song really hurt to listen to. A former classmate of mine died in a DUI, along with his friend and a baby girl. I don't know whose she was, not his. Maybe a niece or something? Either way, all three of them died. The only survivor was the other driver in the accident, who was drunk. They did nothing wrong. They were sober. Why did they have to die? Why? Why couldn't it have been that idiot drunkard responsible for the crash? Instead he walks away (albeit he probably will or is in jail for it) alive and they died.

Everytime I listen to this song I always think about how old my kid would be, and where we’d be now. He would have turned 4 this July. I would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

This song has meaning to me because I'm a recovering drug addict and a recovering alcoholic. I lost so much to drugs. Friends started leaving, family members would disown me, and I almost lost the love of my life over drugs. When I realized what was happening I went to rehab to get off the drugs

I can so relate to the guy in this song. All I wanted was to switch places with my daughter so she could have lived her life

This song is LIT so much more than the path.

I love this album for many reasons, one being this guy didn't even care if he dies, he just wants a life for his daughter. Also his anger to the Voice from "Letter to the Council" because he can't move on without knowing his daughter will be safe The end of the album is up for interpretations of what happens to the dead, but I always believe the dead get resurrected, with their past lives a blur. If not I can't imagine how sad it would be
