This is an interview about the famous 1960's record producer Joe Meek. He describes in detail the equipment that he used in his studios at 304 Holloway Road in London. Sorry about the quality but the recordings are very old indeed, please note my equipment is not too blame for that I can assure you.

Very nice restoration
Hi Harvey, hope you're OK.. Do you agree with Andy that all CD players sound the same as they all contain the same parts? And that they're only good enough for a mobile disco ? lol.. Don't say "Andy's talking nonsense about CD players again lol" like I did or you also could feel the wrath of the most ignorant, rude, two faced, vile, squalid fake 'engineer' on youtube.. Remember, Keep it ELECTRONICS guys.. lol.. ps Enjoy the lovely weather mate..
I have heard some really nice and expensive CD players my brother in law bought and I can hear a difference, that's all I'm going to say on that for now, lol. Yep, nice weather finally here, lol.
@@harveysvintageaudio Yep Harvey very true. CD players are still evolving and are still a great way to listen to 'physical' media.. My new player has revealed detail from even my oldest CD's that I've never heard before..Sorry to 'vent' here but we watch day after day as he bullies Christine, slags of other subscribers, butchers equipment and spouts misinformation..Why the good ppl in the chat reward the thug with donations and high value gifts amazes me..As someone who's worked in prototype electronics for many years I've never commented on his awful work out of respect, the other night I had had enough... Mind you, many people have vanished from the chat since I've been subscribed.. That's all I'm going to say on that for now too, lol...
The stellaphone is a rebranded Phillips model the info is on HIFI Engine or somewhere on the net i am sure there is a schematic i am sure there is a missing ceramic little disk that had fallen off the metal plate the flywheel shaft sit's on it i think i oiled piece of felt as a temp fix just to try and set it up and. I had to adjust the brakes the take reel was throwing tape everywhere i fixed all that. So the grinding will be the flywheel against the metal plate the felt probably moved and is not there now thrown around in transit as i didn't glue it as would have been pointless.
Yep it really is a Philips, I will give it a go and see how I get on. I will work out something as I have fixed some of the other Philips/Stellaphone models before.
Some things are just not supposed to be repaired manufactured for failure like ADAT machines mini disks are the same service manuals wont help mechanisms that would just be replaced under warranty. Cost the manufacturer too much money that's why everything is on a little micro sd now. This is the generation of land fill anything after made around 1990 seems to be all landfill especially florescent vacuum displays that says it all about what they where designing.
You're so right there, give me vintage anytime.
Fling the Sony Harvey but I’ll take the Cyrus amp old boy..😁
It's all in the bin ready for recycling, I love the Cyrus, lol.
@@harveysvintageaudio Brilliant amps and superbly built, is it the one or two?
@@gtretroworld It's the Cyrus 1
@@harveysvintageaudio Nice, i had both and the PSX years ago, worked on a good few of them as they used to eat caps.
@@gtretroworld Luckily mine is still good especially after it was not used for over 20 years, lol.
Cool I need to do a couple of mine sometime thanks for sharing
Hey Benji, no worries.
Harvey ❤
Hi honey. xx
I used to have one since brand new. As soon as it starts warming up, the generates a nice smell of the rexin not because of the year but that it's natural smell and that smell gets stronger as it warms up. That smell was exclusively from Elizabethan and not other brands. It was purchased at J M Goupille in Port Louis
Hei, it's not made in Denmark, it's made in Norway as we all know 😎
Those Nichicon capacitors will make a huge difference i changed capacitors in a microphone with them and really dropped the noise floor
👍
First time viewer, Keep on keepin' on Harvey! Sometimes it's all we can do.
Plenty to keep you busy, Harvey, when you eventually get the time to work on them all.
Welcome Back Harvey.... I was wondering!
Thanks Steve.
Blimey Harvey you have lots to do. Because I'm new to all this i am in the nice position of doing one job at a time. One day I hope to get to your giddy heights 😊😊
I certainly have lot's to do Mike, i'm so behind, lol.
Meant to say on the Armstrong amp, the emitter is shorting to the collector on two power output transistors.
I was waiting to see you replace the belts, 🧐i hope you show it in part 4
I think I had a red one of these.Great song!
My EOT bulb is burned out. I'm trying to pull it out, but is stuck. Any ideas?
Great choice of song there!
I would prefer this to the Lepy. I don't hate on those Chinese D class amps, they do their job well enough but I prefer the sound of these vintage amps. Currently got a Rotel RX 203 and did have an RX 202, wish I had held onto that one.
I Have 2 4400 Stereo Versions , 1 of Them Has a Crack on Feed hub ,Who Is Parts Supplier For user OR Is It Cheaper To buy a Parts unit Thanks
Incrível aparelho.....mas para que serve essas 2 pinos vermelhos? É pra poder gravar?
Rubbish compared to hifi vintage. Middlesbrough
Heavy is not the word. I've just been to Worthing to pick one up. Two buses, four trains later and I'm absolutely pooped.
Hello. I have the same model. In 1972 I was 4 years old but remember very well this when used by my brother older than me. I found one at good price and very good condition and happy to play again some audio k7. I've built a speakers cabinet with a good full range speaker to connect to audio output. The sound is very good, you can really enjoy listen to it. Thanks for sharing
Nice finish Harvey. I used boiled linseed oil yesterday and it also looks good.😊
Yep, it's looking much better now. Boiled linseed oil, good idea.
Nice turntable Harvey but the best music came from the 80’s, everyone knows that. 😁
Lol, GT. You're younger than me.
@@harveysvintageaudio It doesn’t matter, the 80’s are the past and the future lol
It certainly looks a neat unit, Harvey...
Thanks Theo, yes it is.
Nice, Harvey, not you, I mean the record player..lol
Looks good
Will look a whole lot better when it's all done Benji.
They are very nice units.... from BRC Thorn in Enfield. Get a new head for it.... there is bound to be one somewhere.
Will take a look for one Steve. I thought they were made by RTV, that's the info I found on the net ? By the way I worked for Thorn EMI in Enfield as a Computer Mainframe operator in 1979, lol.
Looks in nice condition Harvey.
Yep, it's not too bad, but will look even better when I have finished with it Mike.
@@harveysvintageaudio I bought some Servisol foam cleaner today. Recommended by Steve. Supposed to be good for cleaning wood finishes.
Cool, i'll check it out.
The cartridge carrier I'm looking for is for a KS40A Garrard type.
Would be great if you would use a pointer (laser or just a pen) to point at what you worked on. I see a bunch of pulleys. Which was modified/fixed?
Beautiful! And sounds great! I'm in the U.S. I have a G36, an A77 Mk I, an A77 Mk II, and a B77 Mk II. All of them are in my "to restore" queue.
It's got no Beam Echo avantic equipment though !
I have two Revox A77 and both broke down in one week. Been looking for someone to see if they could be repaired. one of them the speed is too fast, can you give me any advice. Thanks. Dave
I have just bought one of these. It has 2 white wires. Any idea how to put a plug on this ?
Sounds to me like the output transistor may have gone down. If so, you may have to replace both of them with a matched pair, Harvey.
Think I need a few AC139's Theo.
Great Little Amp Harvey Make Sure You Take Out The Plug in Boards And Clean Any Tarnished Edge Connectors Also Check The Power Board For Any Blown Speaker Protection Fuses The Al102 Transistors Are Very Expensive To Replace But I Think You Can Get Russian Replacements ....mike
Think You Can Use Cheap 2N3055 instead Harvey
I'm checking it all out atm Mike, changed one fuse on the PSU board and it blew again so possible transistor.
Cheers for the video Harvey. Never seen inside one of these before, lots of caps😮
No worries Mike, yep there certainly are, lol.
Decided to re rivit the speaker connector with J B Weld on the broken side and a washer just bigger than the rivet for support
🎶 💃🏻 🕺 🎉
CanI PHONE Harvey or get in touch with him somehow. Very impressed with what you can do with these machines. Have had one of these machines in my loft on a suitcase but think it has had its day. Bought in late 60's. I am very impressed with how he can bring a vintage machine to life and new! It has been in our loft a good no of years in a siluitcase and wrapped BUT just had loft reinsulated with the proper insulation boards that should have been put there years ago! We never did know and the house was always COLD! THERE IS QUITE A STORY WITH THIS MACHINE HARVEY AND I would love to have it working again. If only.
Hi by any chance do we have an option to purchase one of these sitting here in India...I am from India and a connoisseur of music...also am a music composer and singer...definitely would wish for an exceptional sound system...kindly advise...Thank you ! :)
Looks marvelous and unbelievable !! WOW!
That's no a recorded gordie accent, thats from up in the welsh valleys boyo, sounds from the green green grass of home. Music, rod stewarts cover of angel by jimi hendrix.
A lovely pair of NABS. Not sure who pink floyd are thou, lol.
