Fig at 7th Target to East Hollywood Target Husk via Metro
Checking out the scene of a shooting at my local Target, where a security guard and Target loss prevention employee were shot by a shoplifter.
From Fig/7th we head to East Hollywood to check out the infamous Target Husk. Checking out the area surrounding Hollywood/Western Metro, including the Hollywood Blvd road diet. Walk through Thai Town.

LA on Cloud 9 arranged for the 9th District of LA to provide a trash bin and created an event to help clean up this forlorn stretch of street in South LA. Volunteers from around the area donate their time and sweat to make a modest improvement to the area, all be it temporary. Clean up near homeless encampments.

I was at that Ralph’s/Ross shopping center a few months ago during the Hollywood CicLAvia and ate at the Kingdom Dim sum. It was pretty good. I hope the Macy’s Bloc closure doesn’t doom the entire shopping center.
A third world look to everything
The problem is all those people doing drugs get government help for their addiction. If they can pass a clean test they should be no help no food stamps money no housing Only clean drug test people gets help. Prop 36 and more strict laws enough of that pathetic life.
I'm glad I don't live in Los Angeles, the amount of people, the ugly architecture and the climate in that part of world is not for me. Great video but I'm going to stay in Alaska
good thing the dogs are in the basket.. i would never walk my dogs there.. too many heroin needles in the grass and side walks
The best you can do for yourself first is to stay away from this toxic ghetto negative place...lol thanks. anyways nice take
Why is it still called "Pershing Square" after old General George Pershing? I know he must've hurt someone's feelings at least once. Change the name!
The ending was the best part lol
what a dumb concept. cleaning and picking up where no one cares. its a restroom out there in skid row. my kids grew up on skid row. there mother dated a herion addict. sad story.
I think the residents of the area care. There are plenty of renters and owners in the area too.
@ ok it just looks like a abandoned city. drugs everywhere. if people live there they must feel like there in prison. i wouldnt leave my home and walk my dog the dog will get a neddle stuck in his paw.
wow los angels is a real crappy city.
THIS WAS ONCE A VERY LOVELY PARK, IT HAS STRUGGLED WITH THE HOMELESS AND MIGRANT WAVES OF UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE. NEED TO THANK GOD FOR THE CHRISTIAN OUTREACH MINISTRIES - A TRULY UPHILL BATTLE!
Dirty country
I can't thank you enough for this video. I live about two hours from Laughlin and have been visiting the area several times a year since the 1980s. We are currently writing a fictional screenplay about a murder that took place in the Nevada desert in 1990. As often as I have visited Laughlin over the years, my memory has grown a little fuzzy of what was in Laughlin around that time. Thank you for refreshing my memory.
Some cool bird's eye view of the parade. I was there, too. I took the E line from East LA and have never seen so many people take the Metro. There were many people getting on at every station until we got to the Historic Broadway station. The parking garage at the Atlantic station was completely full, which I've never seen before either. I got off at the Bunker Hill station, and it was wall to wall people at the elevator lobby, but we only waited about 5 minutes to get on an elevator. I was surprised how well it all worked out, considering the huge wave of people using the LA Metro. I heard Metrolink lines were also packed.
I enjoy your videos. And, it was very thoughtful to give a blanket to that man.👍
GO, Dodgers!
All those HOT 🔥 cops in tight riot gear. Yummy.
great video, being in the crowd and then seeing it from above is cool!
That’s a mean view to watch the parade from. Lucky guy.
Really great video Erik , I work at the AON Building and could see the ending of the parade and those huge crowds.
Awesome!
Been on that drive more than 50 times. Very pretty at any time of year, even the summer. Tom’s place is pretty cool stayed there several times. Very, let’s call it “rustic”. Spread our father’s ashes (via helicopter) around 1000 island lake just a little north and west of Mammoth. Thanks for a brief break for my day.
We love it! Congrats to the Dodgers!
capacity crown at the stadium, almost no one on the bus. and that is two busses in one.
Most people probably don't know local bus options are available. The Dodger stadium express carries the vast majority of bus riders. Anyone going my path would probably rideshare to the stadium. Tonight was people paying $900-$2,000 a ticket and not exactly bus savvy demographic. Regular game days have more people doing this option.
Those security guys at Dodger Stadium don't mess around.
Could also take the Dodger Shuttle. Hop on the train from DTLA to Union Station. It’s free.
How much is an uber ride from downtown LA to dodger stadium
I would imagine about $25 on game days. Getting out via rideshare can sometimes be a pain.
You should do this again when the World Cup comes
Im surprised they dont have a parking structure by now
24:52 No reason to threaten you like that and I would have dared him to call the cops. You were doing nothing wrong. There is a public park there. Ridiculous. He also doesn’t have the right to trespass you. That’s the Dodgers decision not you.
I’m sorry about what happened to you sir i work as a lot attendant at dodgers stadium and yeah there is some Security guards that are mean sometimes and Police officers same as some of my attendants but I know you just want to film a video and I respect that
L cop u weren't even in the stadium. They probably enforcing bc it's the world series
The city planned to construct a significant public housing complex years before the Dodgers even considered moving to LA. The city screwed this whole thing up by not properly compensating the residents, and some received nothing at all, and it sucks. The city of LA is to blame, not the Dodger organization. People lost their homes, and sadly, this has happened throughout LA's history.
what a beautiful memory! encapsulated for all of us to see! i remember going to europe for the first time about 8 years ago and the longer time goes by the more i appreciate it!
I hate la
Build the GONDOLA SYSTEM!!!
Why give Frank McCourt more money?
@jnuval He's paying for it. And it would help with the insane traffic to Dodgers Stadium.
What are all those scooters about? Can anyone just take one and go? We don’t have anything like that where I live.
I’m pretty sure they’re electric and you need their app to activate it for a fee
Was that security who spoke to you? Bit of a mission to get back.
He was LAPD. Yeah I wanted to walk down the hill to chinatown station but oh well.
I had the most fun of my life in the Colorado Belle. The Paddle wheel Cafe was terrific. And really good value. Thanks, Belle. I miss you.
With all the "road time" you could have explored several of the really interesting and historic sites in and around Ely for a much better presentation
I live in a giant city so the open road and quicky overnights were heaven. Sometimes all you have time for is a quick spin around town. There's always next time, when it's not freezing with very short days. I found the whole drive quite relaxing and the hotel was toasty and comfortable.
I hope they bring it back next year. I'd have loved to go but CicLAvia was already the next day and making the trek to DTLA twice in a row would be a bit much, especially since I'd bring my kid with me.
Ely is a great place to start or end the famous Hwy 50 "loneliest hwy adventure"! Sorry you sound like a paranoid Californian however and missed virtually all the highlights of Ely and the country
Not sure what you're taking about. I drove from bishop to tonopah to Ely to Vegas as part of a loop road trip with my dogs. It was the dead of winter and this video was the extent of my daylight time, so I spent it walking around town. Me thinks you're just displaying some implicit bias against all californians for whatever reason.
I use Ely as a stopover on my summer trips from Arizona to Washington state. Stayed at the same hotel, a little cramped but it's clean with a free breakfast to get you going the next morning.
The dog is so freaking cute!!! Just chillen 😊
It was super fun. So much to see and do..
Also, there is usually a good amount of activity before 10 pm. So when you say dead, you're not talking about 5, 6, 7, or 8pm. This issue of closing earlier is also related to people still working from home. For example, there are a number of local eateries I go to in my area, and they all close now at eitger 2 or 3 pm. Before Covid and working from home, these places were open for dinner, too, until 7 or 8 pm. A more well-known eatery that has done the same is The Pantry. That place was famous for being open 24/7. I spent so many mornings there at 3 or 4 am. after a night out having some great food. Now, I think they close at 5 pm. I hate seeing this, but I mostly blame Covid that killed millions. It's going to take a couple more years of improvement to get back to pre Covid tines. Hey, at least LA Metro is continually improving now. They just announced over 1 million daily boardings and 22 straight months of ridership increases. That's a hopeful sign. I did the Cyclavia today, and it was packed with people. Many, including myself, were using the LA Metro, too, bikes and all. It was a great event. It was my first. Plan to do many more.

To be fair, things had been improving a lot for several years before Covid hit. LA, like many cities, is still suffering from lingering effects of the pandemic and employees still working from home. Places like the Nickel Diner almost escaped Covid, but they closed because they no longer had the customers due to people working from home. This issue of working from home now, going on 5 years, if adding to the negative effects of Covid in places like DTLA. Places like drugstores need those daily workers to spend money. The same is true for mom and pop places like the Nickel Diner. They need to mandate people work 5 days a week in offices again.
Cities need to adapt, there's no reason to force people to work in an office when they can do it from home. If they encourage WFH and convert downtowns from offices to housing, you get a double whammy of less people commuting to offices and more people living densely and not needing cars to or to travel as far for things. Transportation is the largest emissions sector , with most of that being personal vehicles. Getting more people to live in population nodes rather than being sprawled out and coming to work in the nodes is easier to city-plan for and better for the environment.
Literally feels like I’m watching the apocalypse rn lolol
Love those old theaters.
If the actual "movie stars" in Hollywood didn't snub live stage performing arts actors. The whole seven theaters in that stretch of Broadway would or could compete with New York City for West Coast live shows. Perhaps extending other venues for music too. I'm sure restaurants, bars, and specialty retail shops would follow to fill in those empty store fronts. When you gentrify an area. It's not just one building at a time. But an overview of what the precinct would look like in totality.
That's exactly what had been happening for several years before Covid hit. Things are improving, but it will take a couple of more years. And, the companies need to end working from home. It's killing many places, especially mom and pop restaurants.
