    You need a dehumidifier in the PNW wet season for this condition. I live here and we learned it from our folks who live on the coast. We have a Perfectaire model, their smallest one. We run in it in our 24' trailer for size reference. When we camp in wet season, it runs constantly. And often fills daily which is about half a gallon. And we're often hanging wet gear as well being we snowboard and camp in the rain half the year. If really shopping to fix this issue, look for a dehumidifier with an exterior drain option. This way, when at 80% humidity, you won't fill your tank and stop the machine, it'll just run and ring out the moisture from the air and send it down your sink. I made a 1/2" ID tubing tube rig for this. Went long sharing, but it was about the PNW, and this is a real problem here. And a dehumidifier is how you fix it. We even have small dessicant models in the closets in the winter. We just wore out a set some rechargeable types and had to replace them.

    • @BOOTENWAGEN
      @BOOTENWAGEN 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The more you know! Yeah, we started keeping dessicants in some of the closets. We also got this teeny Hall effect type of dehumidifier, but it was extremely ineffective. The number of climate control devices got out of hand here in a hurry as we travelled all the climate zones - space heater, air purifier, humidifier, and dehumidifier lol.

I have seen sub woofer amps and other cheap china audio stuff pull upwards of 150 ma (sleeping mode) but never more than that. Thanks for the video. Any idea if we could get the Blue Ox power from one of the up-fitter switches that come prewired in some Broncos?

    • @BOOTENWAGEN
      @BOOTENWAGEN หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah I considered that during my build actually, and to my knowledge, no. Those switches are not active while the Bronco accessory power is off. And even if you didn't turn the Bronco accessory power off while towing, the switches get disabled after some time - 45 minutes I believe (but who knows if they changed anything about that behavior with an over-the-air update). I think they are run to some relays governed by the computer, which turns everything off unless the engine is running. Unfortunate really, because that would be really slick and give me an excuse to actually use up a switch lol. I'll add that it's probably possible to re-wire a switch to be directly wired to the battery. I also wonder if the computer could be reprogrammed, maybe there's a flag that can be disabled to ignore whether the engine is running or not. I am getting no heating on electric, and no gas/ignition click on gas. It has been suggested it is a thermostat? Could this be it, can I check the thermostats?

    • @BOOTENWAGEN
      @BOOTENWAGEN 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible - I assume you don't have a fault light on. Here's my best guess for your situation (if I understand how it works correctly): if your thermostat failed and got stuck in the 'open' position, it would be telling your control board that the water is 'always hot', so no need to turn the heating element on. That would also disable the gas ignition. You can test my theory by unplugging the two wires leading to T'STAT and touching them together (not just momentary, but let them continue to touch each other). If the heater turns on, that's a bingo, and you need to replace the thermostat.

    The rv park next door, Desert View is cooler as they have very tall oleanders between sites, better power and a swimming pool! Wee have stayed the in July a few times passing thru or as a base to go to laughlin. Much nicer.

    I'm a long term RV'er, I live in a 32ft 5th wheel in west Phx, Az. Last year Phoenix hit(as well as almost everywhere) all time highs. It was 120 degrees or so in July'23. I had to stop using the roof ac because it drained too much electricity, my bill was through the roof a couple years ago and it really never cooled down. I got a window ac, 12000 btu's, my bill went down and adding a big fan to the other end of the trailer, it's nice, comfortable. I might later get a smaller window ac for the bedroom, but for now it does pretty good 😎

      120F! That is spicy. From the sound of it, RVs really do have a big time inefficiency problem with their roof units.

      @@BOOTENWAGEN yes, on my B-day, I had to sit w'no lights or tv, only the AC and fan going all day, or so. I had to get up a few times to reset the circuit breaker. The fan comes in handy, having it on high pointed right at the breaker box, it's not much, but it helps.

    The part im left mystified with is how steering works. All these years ive seen vehicles flat towed assuming linkage between the tow bars and the steering rack.

      Ah, no - so at 08:19 you can kind of see the steering in operation. There is no connection to the steering rack. The towed vehicle's steering is only being directed in the direction it is being pulled. The towed vehicle's steering wheel is loose with no lock out active. Works great when pulled, but you basically can't take your RV in reverse - it'll inevitably push the towed vehicle's steering to the limit and drag the wheels.
