East West vs Keyscape piano battle
มุมมอง 331หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a comparison between the Bösendorfer piano from East West libraries (where I use a mix with 3 mic positions) and the basic Yamaha C7 piano from Keyscape. My opinion is that Keyscape reacts better to what I play but I don’t like the compression and the distortion when I play notes with a high velocity value. East West sounds nice and very realistic in some registers but it’s too bright f...

I want your playing, never mind the presents!
Thanks! I’ll take it as a compliment. It only took me 20 years to be able to improvise like this.
0:56 Keyscape, but why is your play 6 still respond to your controller?
I use Opus
@@rolandv-piano yes of course, it's still east west kkkkkk, why were you wrote keyscape there... Keyscape is spectratonics, btw, nevermind 🙂it's not a big deal
@yoanrivky5491 What are you talking about? I recorded the video when I played East West samples then used the same video and the same MIDI and sent it to Keyscape so that the playing is identical. I didn’t film the same thing twice.
@@rolandv-piano ☝👍
very thanks!!
Where do you buy the sounds for the MIDI? Thanks
The keyboard sounds are all from Spectrasonics. You can download the product online. It’s called Keyscape. The strings and pads are from the Crowhill Company. The main pad is from u-he and the plugin is called Hive 2. The drum groove is made with Superior Drummer from Toontrack.
@@rolandv-piano many thanks
how did you get the low latency?
You mean for Keyscape? I use a low buffer size in my DAW. The latency can be as low as 4-5 milliseconds.
@@rolandv-piano are you using Rolands interface or external sound card? 4-5m is really good
@kaanpiyano1 I sent MIDI to my DAW via an USB cable. The MIDI information goes to Keyscape and comes out of my DAW via a Focusrite audio interface. My computer has a M2 Ultra CPU.
@@rolandv-piano I think because of the CPU u. Have low latency, cool
美しい
What song is this? Its beautiful bravo!
It’s just an improvisation in the style of Rachmaninov.
@rolandv-piano I can play the first minute of prelude c sharp minor, but improving in his style is currently too advanced for me, what pieces would you recommend to build my understanding of his style, because I'd love to be able to do that on the fly. Super impressive!
@ Study the chord progressions he uses in minor keys and make sure you can fluently play chords as arpeggios in your left hand.

i have adam t5v as studio monitors. Just got a Kawai VPC1, which i will place in different position in the studio, but I would like to new set of speakers infront of the kawai VPC 1 too. Any recommendations? I would need to connect the speakers to the UA apollo twin too as secondary outputs.
I am agonising over spending on a fantom against a cheap second hand acoustic piano. The reason for getting th fantom is for all the extras. Question is how good the weighted keys are .
@@markbon5146 The Fantom has an awful keybed, definitely not for pianists and worse than the RD2000.
@@rolandv-piano According to Roland website , both have PHA-50 action

Quindi a te , I miei modesti complimenti.. M sempre suonando tutto in tempo reale . Tu faccio i miei complimenti !!!!! Bravo !!!!!!! 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋

Thank you!
I don’t think it’s extremely realistic by today’s standards, but god damn, I love that sound
Hard to beat the lower register
Can anyone help me? I am using KeyScape library and I like it very much. When I put on headphones the sound is very nice, but when I turn on the speaker of my phone or laptop it is very bad and I have not found a solution. I want to find a solution for this problem. Please help. Thanks 🙏🏼
That is because the quality and power of those speakers (laptop / phone) is not enough. I guess it will be better with a proper amplifier.
LOOKS LIKE A Roland FANTOM-6-EX Synth
GeneralMusic Promega series 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I use the same thing, sound very bad. Do you need to master or low cut to make sound like that?
Did not doe any processing other than leveled it at -14 LUFS. It’s mostly your MIDI controller that reads the velocity differently. What keyboard/controller do you use?
You can also low cut everything at 35/30 HZ but that isn’t the issue here.
The Roland exhibits a distinctly brighter timbre, characterized by a cleaner sound that integrates more effectively with compositions incorporating digital recordings and electronic instruments. In contrast, Keyscape produces a more subdued and vintage tone, evoking a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of older pianos. However, this does not necessarily imply superiority over Roland. Keyscape’s tonal qualities make it well-suited for recordings involving acoustic instruments. In my view, for projects focused on digital recordings or film scores, Roland would be the optimal choice.
Keyscape sounds darker because it uses a denoise filter (eq) but has superior reverbs. You can also find very bright keyscape patches in the plugin.
I don’t know about your grandpa but you’re impressing the hell out of me
Thanks a lot! I thought the sounds were cool too.
If you can add the dyno piano from korg w01 pro that would be it ❤
The channel name had me confused a little bit. I thought Roland is posting Korg keyboards😂
I’ll take it as a compliment ;)
@rolandv-piano not an insult at all, I'm just a bit slow. Nice playing btw.
@@The_Sonic_Oasis Thanks!
Hola , ese sonido es original de fabrica sin modificacion de nada? Saludos brother
No, I layered 3 electric piano tones and tweaked the effects to achieve this sound.
that is why they used the Roland keyboard to create keyscape
Eu acho o Keyscape bem mais bonito e realista!
What Keyscape patch are you using on this video It sounds WONDERFUL
Custom preset based on the default one. Tweaked the reverb, release time, velocity curve and the dynamics parameter.
Keyscape is the BOSS
How to make sound like that? 0:43
It’s an electric piano with delay at different speeds. I also tweaked the feedback time. This preset is available for download.
Keyscape all the way
Same, ive been using vsts live for over 10 years, it's at the point now I feel comfortable fading out my hardware workstations and just using a controller and mainstage.
Mr. V, what do you think of the RD88EX’s SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3?🤔
@@sale6257Well, it’s not part of the V-Piano engine and doesn’t come close to the new piano sound expansions that are now available for RD2000 and Fantom8. To me it sounds like the previous presets from the old models like NX, GX and RD stage keyboards.
@@rolandv-piano Thanks to Mr. V for the explanation I think the sound of RD88EX is also good
Basic piano no better then my fp8 roland from 1991..same
@@borisandrijic8708 It’s obvious you don’t get it.
Great piano sound. What is it?
Keyscape + 2 reverbs
Beautiful music!
@@zoltanns Thank you very much!
I am happy using software and hardware. I mean, I don’t think a plugin really replaces a good analog synth, specially vintage synths or modern synths like Prophet 5 rev 4. But for acoustic sounds, sound libraries are way better in general, except for some sounds like Nord organs, or Yamaha electric pianos which could be as good as them.
I much prefer the C7 sample in my Ivory II over the Keyscape version. It just seems to have more depth.
Sounds are Fantastic 👌 🤩 🙌
Keyboard workstations lock up in live situations too. I had a Kronos ( which is basically a computer in a keyboard housing lock up on me at a gig. Fortunately I was able to reboot it and finish the gig with it. Another problem with keyboard workstations is bringing them in for repair and parts availability. Also there seems to be fewer authorized repair centers
What keyboard is it tho lol 😅
@@ageshero It’s a Roland V-Piano but the sounds come from my computer. I just use it as a MIDI controller.
@@rolandv-piano that’s awesome. I wonder if roland sells a model that’s just a really nice keybed without the extra internal engines.
@@rolandv-piano I’m currently a bit of a Korg guy, but my Korg krome’s keybed kinda is not doing it for me and I’m outgrowing it
@@ageshero Look up Roland A-88
I used the same setting but the sound I get is different. Any other process you used ? Thanks
I only used Ozone 11 to get it to -13 LUFS because of TH-cam but nothing special in this Ableton template. What is the MIDI controller you are using?
@@rolandv-piano when I play for each tone I also hear a high frequency noise (each time I play a tone) like fs fs fs. I tried to reduce it by changing age (tape section) and lowering high freq boost and this makes it muddy. Also needed to Eq (lower around 500 and boost around 1-2k to sound sharp) but still no there. I feel that yours is more clean and sharp and I dont hear these high freq key noises (Noise suppression is set to strong)
I used the denoise parameter. Might be your speakers\headphones that are too bright. But if you don’t use denoise it can be problematic.
@@rolandv-piano yeah I always use strong denoise. Could be my headphones …my MIDI is native - komplete 88
You’ll never get the same sound with that type of controller. I had a Jd-Xa and the sound was totally different. But this has nothing to do with sample noise. I didn’t use other types of processing for this video.
Great playing ! Which of the 2 “feels and responds “ better ? What do you use for concerts / gigs ? Thank you
I use both live. I think Roland responds better but not if you are trying to play really softly. RD 2000 has now unlimited polyphony for the German piano sound and the low end and the string resonance is really good. You can tweak Keyscape to have a soft/fast feel but you need a fast computer and a quality MIDI controller. I think Keyscape is the most convenient.
@@rolandv-piano Thank you. This helps a lot :)
