Can an MTB Novice Service a Rockshox Lyrik Fork?
I've owned my bike for one year and never serviced the suspension until now. After watching lots of videos on TH-cam I plucked up the courage and took my Lyrik apart...

Re-building Fitness after Winter. A Short and Sweet Trail.

Winter is tough in Scotland, terrible weather, long nights and right in the middle of it you have Christmas. I gained a TON of weight and lost all my aerobic fitness. Time to do something about it...
New Bike Day - Orbea MX 24 Trail
มุมมอง 8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
My eldest outgrew his old bike, so its time for a new set of wheels! I ordered an Orbea MX 24 Trial, the assembly was easy and we took it for its first ride to test out the new features. The bike has an air suspension, Shimano trigger shifter and hydraulic brakes. It's a proper bike! MTB Slow-Mo Sessions - Noob Learning How To Manual

I'm new to mountain biking and, like everyone else, I struggle to manual. I filmed myself in slow-mo to see where I was going wrong, it was an interesting experience. I'm still not there but I feel I'm making progress. Slowly. Music - Lullaby by Yung Logos. From TH-cam Audio Library.
Sessioning Falkland Bike Park

I've ridden this part of Falkland Bike Park (Main Line, Mid Section 2) a few times but have never cleaned it, top to bottom. In this video, I took my time and sessioned each part of the trail before taking a full run at it. I avoided the jumps, leaving them for another day... 100% Fun! - How To Get Kids into Mountain Biking
มุมมอง 2714 ปีที่แล้ว
I have two young boys and I want to get them into mountain biking. I think fun is the key, skills and fancy bikes can come later. I took my boys to Lochore Meadows in Fife, Scotland last weekend and filmed them exploring the triails. We found a small skills track and even used my secret weapon, a bungee tow rope. The boys discovered the joy of riding a pump track for the first time. Lochore Mea...
MTB Slow-Mo Sessions - How Do Suspension Settings Work?

I am new to mountain biking and suspension settings are a mystery to me. So I filmed my front fork and rear shock at a high frame rate and played them back slow-mo style to see what the various suspension settings actually do. If you forget your o-ring install you can use a zip tie. I've used a zip tie for over 40 years on MTB's and dirt bike forks with no issues. The rubber o-rings stretch quickly (or least for me). As someone else said, always wash your bike really well before doing any maintenance on it. This serves two purposes. First, you greatly reduce the chance of contaminating something and keep your hands/gloves cleaner as you touch sensitive parts. Second, washing your bike allows you to notice anything else that might need attention. Thanks for the video. -Larry

That's a good start. If you want to get further back, try moving your crank arms to 60 degrees (closer to vertical). You can get your centre of mass 10cm further back. In the video your crank arms are horizontal.

Nice work! I’m keen on seeing you progress! Filming yourself is a very good way of analysis. You’ve probably seen all the manual videos out there twice and you already mentioned your head: practice to loop out and by that get to know the pivoting/balance point and get rid of the fear of falling over. You got this!

  • @michaeljagsch4299

Yeah the foam expands due to the oil it absorbs. A little tip for your next lower leg service is to clean them, them install them and to carefully apply some oil with a syringe. That makes it easier to install! For example GMBN Tech showed it in one of its videos. Great video overall!

Hey man, just now finding your channel. I'm sure you've progressed a lot since this video but in the 3rd person footage you could see that you were nervous and stiff but you still have a good enough body position. My best advice is to work on technique rather than speed as speed will come with technique. Have fun!

Dude for one, clean your damn forks BEFORE opening them up if you’re going to post a how to video. I’m not sure why you would even start this job without a good cleaning to the exterior first like you should do before working on ANYTHING on your bike. You can visibly see a bunch of crud caked on the fork seals as you’re placing your old cleaned wiper seals back in the lowers. I mean come on...Secondly, you’ve had your forks for a year and you’re going to reuse the wipers and seals??? It’s like less than $20 to replace both wipers and seals why would you not just do this service properly on your $1000 fork. This video just seems negligent so I decided to comment since I don’t think you should be posting a how to video considering my points.

    • @mtbdad5273
      @mtbdad5273 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for the feedback. You are not the first person to say I should have cleaned the bike first. I tried to get the various parts beforehand but wasn’t able to at the time, due to lockdown. The supply chain is back to normal now and I’ve got the parts ready for next time.
