Nature & My Cine Camera | 16mm iPhone short film
Nature & my Cine Camera
Shot on iPhone
Gas isn’t pleasant, it can leave us feeling bloated & bogged down….by gas I mean “gear acquisition syndrome”, because sometimes having options can be more limiting than having fewer.
Iv always liked the idea of keeping things simple and keeping it meaningful, and this feeling isn’t limited to just how we create, but what we create with.
Im deeply passionate about motion picture film, but I’m not hung up on it being better or worse then digital, because I’m also a huge believer that the best camera is the one you have with you, and our phones have for sometime, been a worthy tool for creativity and image capture.
This film is my attempt at marrying my love for nature, film and what can be done with the camera in our pockets.
It shouldn’t matter how, what or why, it should only matter what it does for our souls.
Huge shoutout to César Puechmarin

For the beautiful 35mm photographs included in the beginning of the film of some of our most magnificent Australian wildlife.
Big love to you my man ❤️

Silly question but are the sound/noises from the actual camera or external audio?
How did you get that perfect intro text fade in/out?
Love this. Is this reg 16 or super?
Ich hab noch mal mit Siri geredet dann hat, ist der Scheiß abgespielt
Incredible work! What track did you use around 3:47... ? I know you mentioned in the description artist, but can you help out with the track name? Thanks a bunch!
Hello, amazing work! Loved it! I got a question about color balance, being shot with tungsten balanced film did you or the lab do any post processing to correct color balance? Or os this straight out of the camera. I ask because I was considering 500t for shooting with natural light in highly wooded areas but worried about color balance(as using an in camera lens filter would negate the advantages of 500 EI). Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work. Cheers from Brazil.
Awesome work. Now I am Looking to buy a Krasnogorsk 3. Really want a 16mm camera.
So good, very inspiring film !
This is incredible!
@ssimplefilms I love this video! I'm really impressed by your camerawork. What's your secret to keeping it so steady?
Really cool stuff! Which lenses did you use?
Beautiful images. Where did you scan this material?
really wish modern period films looked like this.
You and me both 🤌🏽
Hi Thanks for sharing this too :) Please can you say which ones are 50D shots? This is an amazing work for a super8 film there,, better than many many 16mm filmed out there in terms of details and colors :)
I’d have to go back through the original scans to confirm but I believe most of the beach and water shots may have been 50D but I think there were a few exceptions depending on if I wanted to shoot higher frame rates like the bees flying or waves lapping in credits, they are definitely 200t
And thank you for the love, it means a lot 🩵
wtf))
❤️
Man one of the best shot on iPhone videos I've seen, great stuff dude!
Thank you my friend 💗
That helicopter shot actually blew my mind! Are you using external lenses at all in this?
Cheers ! Only the lenses on the phone, but I do use small moment nd filters to keep the shutter speed down
Natural born cinematographer. Don’t stop what you do dude, the world needs beauty more than anything else
Love it mate, thank you for those words 🫡
Nailed it.
Big love, thank you 🙏
Great video!
Thank you jasper ❤️
2:28 this is my favorite shot
Just luck Right place, right time 😂
The best shots are just that💯@@ssimplefilms
Instant sub. I totally bought whole thing. Love it.
Thank you my man, that means a great deal 🩵
This looks so beautiful! Did you use a gimbal or a beastgrip cage for handheld shots?
Thank you greatly! This was all handled or on a tripod, aside from a tracking shot beneath a tree before the driving shots, for that I did use a gimbal but returned it afterwards as I’m not a huge fan of them, I really like hand held shots and it didn’t really fit in for what I was going for
masterful
Thank you 🙏
Incredible! Stunning, is this a 16mm preset? if so, wich one? i want to try it!
Thank you ! Actually I didn’t use any film emulations for this, aside from adding some grain to help with smoothing out any banding issues digital footage can have when compressed and streamed, I just did a basic grade as I work normally for 16mm film. I really like the log look the iPhone pushes out, it reminds me of the og black magic pocket camera
Beautiful footage, but so little movement that you might as well use photos. Hope I don't offend you
Thank you and Not at all!, I really wanted to keep the movement’s minimal to allow the subtle changes within the environment to be more apparent, I do see what you mean though 😊
This is insane
Thank you my man ❤️
yeah, this is it.
💗
Jesus Christ man.
😘
Looks beautiful. Especially the water at 2:19 absolutely stunning. Was there much post processing done besides colour grading?
I appreciate that thank you ! I did add a little post stabilisation just to remove a little gate jitter, but not a great deal extra
Beautifully done
Thank you mate, I really appreciate it 🧡
bro this is an amazing artwork. so intesnse, so good. i cant believe you shot all this on iphone, flabbergasted
Thank you!, I really dig what they can do, I’m always amazed with what can be done with a pocket device !
Incredible, loved this.
Thank you my friend 🩵
how da hale you record audio with the noise of the arri s motor??
When I shoot projects on the arri I always capture audio separately, if not weeks later once I have the footage in a timeline, then I do I load of recording and mixing for each shot.
incredible work. The best iPhone content i've seen out there
Greatly appreciated 🩵
Is this IPHONE really?? Very Cinematic!
Sure is, it’s crazy what they are capable of now! Thank you 🙏
bellissimo! Thank you for inspiring us
Thank you for the love 🧡
Thanks for being my favourite TH-cam channel❤
I can’t thank you enough for that kind of feedback, deeply appreciated 💗
the camera closeup shots are insane. nice
Thank you 🫡
Stunning 8mm footage. The colour and composition are incredibly well done
Big love mate ! Cheers 💗
Yesss! So good 🙌
Cheers ❤️
Completely agree. The 'magic' about doing all of that lives as long as we do it to feel and shere something, not to compensate for expectations of tools.
I think sometimes that unless you love it then why bother, because it’s probably already been done or filmed already by far more talented people. I think this stands true sometimes but I’m sure this is just the cynical voice in the back of my head hahah
I like nature...
Thanks to people like yourself I get to feel inspired again!
Comments like this are wild to me because I still don’t buy that some actual enjoys watching anything I put up, I really appreciate it ❤️
@@ssimplefilms please don’t stop. I first learned about what Krasnogorsk is from one of your videos. It’s been almost two years that I really wanna shoot on film. Haven’t tried yet but hopefully soon enough 🙌
So nicely done! I also shot on iPhone - at some point, I'll get a camera, but with Apple Log and Prores, it's absolutely sufficient.
Thank you mate!, They really are great but bigger cameras are still undeniably better at some things
amazing !!!!
Thanks 🙏
This is amazing <3
Big love thank you 💗
What a beautiful film
Thank you Nico 🤌🏽
do you use any external lenses on the iPhone?! also are you using the black magic pro app?
I don’t use anything other than the built in lenses, but I do use nd filters where I can or remember. Although I didn’t have any with me for this, but I wasn’t too concerned due to there not being any fast motion. And I love the black magic app, still incredible that it’s free !
Let me tell you something dude, I am in love with your videos. Your cinematography is outstanding and your sound design is otherworldly. The dinosaur? That was unbelievable. lol
Thank you my man, I really do take my time and I put a lot of care into every element. It means a great deal that you pick up on the smaller details 💗🫡
