Barbara Cook created the role of Marian in the original Broadway production which co-starred the great Robert Preston as Harold Hill. THE MUSIC MAN opened on December 19,1957 at the Majestic Theatre in New York City. It closed on October 22,1960 after a run of 1,375 performances. The original cast recording was made by Capitol Records and recorded on December 29, 1957.
