    Very cool. My great grandfather traveled from ulster Ireland to Liverpool England in the late 1800s. He was split on where he would immigrate Australia or the USA. He chose the USA, but I’ve always wondered what kind of alternative universe would have been created had I been born in Australia rather than America. You guys have an awesome country and culture. All the best.

    Hi Luke, try carrying two hippy head socks, light and easy. They are multi use. You can pull one down and create a scarf or a balaclava. Then two head wear then beany. 90% heat is the head. Try fishing with just hook, think about a light fly rod. You can make many flies on what you find. Or carry in colourful maggots. The old course fishman in England. Also, think about the army ration pack or make one. Your flint. Pull the stick. The metal shaving fall, not fly forwards. Raaf pilots are trained. Check out Mr Buckaroonie ration pack videos.

    Those Red Rock chips aren't cheap mate. I'm from Melbourne and i've been freezing living inside a modern house, can't imagine the night out there. Even at work, as a machine operator, I'm wearing a long sleeve top, a work shirt, a work jimper and a work puffy jacket just because the factory's been so cold. I appreciate that you were observing the rules regarding state and national parks but given a real survival situation, i wouldn't give two hoots what season it was and what i could and couldn't forage for. Great vid mate 👍

    Wow 😮 awesome build mate. With the roof could you lay one layeras you have then strips in gaps, another layer inside of bark upwards like a u shape on top of gaps then bigger wider section on top. A third layer inside facing down like n..... or maybe a black plastic liner or oilskin tarp? Have noticed some bushcrafters put in a plastic liner when roof frame is complete 🤔

    • @TheBeardedBushranger

      Yeah I reckon I didn't pitch the roof high enough for a bark shelter. I've actually stripped this all off and I'm in the process of turning it into a tin shack which will hold much better. Also tin was around in the 1800s in Australia so it certainly will still stick with theme.

    ok, don't take this wrong. I get no enjoyment out of watching you suffer from hunger. First off, you know full well that the wilderness is not conducive to thriving. So, you can't hunt, you can't forage, what can you do? nothing. You can't even catch any fish. So, you are bringing modern stuff, knife, fire steel, lamb skin, wool blanket. All this modern stuff and no food! get real. I'd rather watch you cook some good food to eat and investigate the area, than starving. We all know from watching naked and afraid that anyone can starve for 21 days and live. Let's just get real. I mean, you have a lot going on for yourself. No doubt. In today's world, we just can't survive in the wilderness for long. Have you watched the History channel's "Alone Show". They have one for Australia. No one survives for long. They mostly starve, and these are survival experts. I think you should change your style of video.

    Waxed thread is commonly available for hand stitching by cobblers, saddlers, etc. So if you need to do repairs, try use that. If youre trying to seal stitch holes, you need to rub the wax in. You need the friction to heat up the canvas enough to take in the wax, you want it to plug the hole's, not just cover the top

    • @TheBeardedBushranger
      @TheBeardedBushranger 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I worked in mustering camps and I used these types of bags on my vehicle but it had a leather back to stop rubbing through on the bull bar. These weren't used as saddle bags though because you had two different types on horses. One that had a curve and it fitted under the neck of your horse. The other was better and had two teardrop types that sat on the shoulders of the horse and had a leather back so horse sweat didnt contaminate the water. These ones were both drovers water bags. The latter was set up like a breastplate and you drank by standing next to your horse and undoing each side at the top by a buckle. I used that on in a pack camp and it was the best and held the most water. I also had a WW11 set that was similar to the drovers double set but set up for walking. Maybe these were used in New Guinea? Then not that long ago I found one in the Q store at Army. It had the broad arrow on it so I gave it to my mate who has several 110 landrovers. It didn't have the leather backing though.
