    • @thewildreset
      @thewildreset 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You know, I get that question often and I wish I paid better attention when I did it. I was surrounded by elm, cottonwood and chinkapin oak, so it would have been one of those three I believe. A commenter on here also suggested cottonwood. The jist of it is to find a sapling that still has a smooth bark, tap it all the way around to bruise it and make the bark start to ooze liquid and then rotate back and forth while you try to pull it off.

    • @thewildreset
      @thewildreset 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With a lot of tapping with the side if the knife. You pretty much want to tap almost the whole surface are of the stick you're working on. Tap it hard enough to see some moisture appear in the bark, but not hard enough that you break the bark. The moisture or sap helps to separate the bark and wood. Then grab firmly and try to twist until it breaks free.

      I'm not ashamed, I bought it for myself and it supported someone who is chasing after their dream rather than supporting a corporation. I've learned a lot from the guy that makes these, so I was happy to support his business. I've also bought a similar cheap one from a big store to compare with and I still prefer the one for $75. I've tested it for a long time now and I'm still impressed with it.

    nice product, but $75 for poncho material with some paracord is nonsense

    • @thewildreset
      @thewildreset 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's actually xenon fabric, it's extremely durable and has proved to be pretty puncture resistant in my uses. Tis better than poncho material and I like how it compresses down very small.

    • @jds0406
      @jds0406 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Significantly lighter and more compressible than poncho material, too. Plus it has several other uses aside from an emergency shelter. Nice as a sun shade or wind screen during a rest on a hike, ground sheet, makeshift poncho, or supplement to your usual shelter components . I agree with other commenters that the lean-to configuration is not always ideal, but this can pretty easily be made into a plough-point shelter, or even an a-frame with some extra prep. I do wish it had more tie out loops, but it is otherwise a great piece of kit. The weight/size to durability to functionality ratios make this more than worth the cost imo, if you are actually going to use it. Full size tarps of the same material go for over 100 bucks, just for comparison.

    Hey man, random but at 4:36 you can hear 2 knocks? Were you alone? I love survival tips and adventures but it is centered around interacting with some sasquatch's I thought weren't real until I had a run in with them. I know i sound crazy but its true. You got the goods man, it wont be long until you have a 1000 subs. Do a bigfoot episode and you will skyrocket. Im in Arkansas. Idk where you live but there are encounters in all 50 states. Look into the history it may shock you. Im Preston btw.

    • @thewildreset
      @thewildreset ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Preston, I'm Chris. The knocks you heard were actually gun shots, I had been hearing them all day. There is a range nearby where I was that was open. But yeah, I've never actually had an encounter with the Ole Squatch but I've seen a lot of videos and shows regarding them. I don't think you're crazy, don't let anyone else either man. I'm sure the first person to describe an octopus thought the same thing until we all saw it. Everything seems far fetched to the masses until it becomes a mainstream idea. I'm out in Kansas. I haven't had any encounters yet, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
