What's neat about Tai Li joining the Kyoshi Warriors is she came from 9 identical twins and sought out the circus to stand out and be different, but in the end, she realized she needs a group she can trust and fall back on, and individuality isn't nearly as important as that support. All different people, choosing to appear similar in service of a higher purpose achieved though cooperation.

i watched that show when a was young teenager. i wished i could re-watch it for the first that with an adult vision. but with time, i interstand things that i did'nt see when i was younger. it's always gave me goosebumps. this is really one of the best animated show ever produced.

One thing I’ve noticed after many many rewatches when Ozai named Azula Fire Lord and him to be the Supreme ruler of the world, it’d make Azula’s position of power literally meaningless because of course he’d still use her as a weapon and basically discarded her to the wayside because he no longer had any use for his attack dog 🤷🏿‍♂️

I do find it a bit funny when people think that when characters talk about killing other characters in creative ways it's because it's "a kids show" when they forget all the times in this show that characters say they'll kill characters or say that people died or got killed all the time.

7:50 -- If you look carefully, you will notice that in Japanese houses shoes _(or outdoor footwear in general)_ are always left in the space at the entrance. The general rule in Japan is that in somebody's home, or in a school, or in a temple, or in a dojo, or in certain other indoor facilities, you're not supposed to wear the same footwear with which you were walking outdoors.

I actually love that Aang found a way to defeat Ozai without also compromising his values and who he is as a person. It's in the name of balance, and it's true that killing Ozai would have been MORE than justified. But I think... I think another reason Aang fought so hard to NOT kill Ozai is because to him, his values and core being are one of the only things left from his people and his culture. To him, compromising those teachings and choosing to kill the firelord would have just been one more part of air nomad culture that died.

Also. I'm not going to necessarily defend what Katara said to Sokka about their mother. It was out of line and completely unfair and untrue. At the very least, we should have gotten an apology from her before the episode ended. At the same time, it kinda goes back to how Zuko used to treat Iroh through books 1 and 2. They say mean, and sometimes downright cruel things. But Sokka, just like Iroh whenever Zuko acted that way towards him, likely understood that Katara didn't necessarily mean what she said, and that it was said out of hurt and pent up anger. She was lashing out, because of the pain she was feeling in the moment. You'll notice that Iroh never once rose to any of the mean or cruel things Zuko said to him when he was lashing out. It's because he knew that Zuko didn't mean what he was saying, and that it was just Zuko reacting to his pain and hurt.

You catch that pun near the beginning of the episode? The morning after Sokka tells Zuko what happened to their mother, whe Katara and he are going to take Appa, you see Sokka making a flower necklace. That was a visual pun added by the animation team. It's meant to confirm that Sokka got some the night before. He got "lei-d"

Also also, i try really hard to not judge the king too harshly, because he WAS fairly young, and because of how much Long Feng and th Dai Li kept from him, its also completely understandable that he'd be incredibly naive due to his lack of actual experience doing things kings normally do. But some of his blunders are just inexcusable! How the hell didnt he think, after finding out Azula wasnt a kyoshi warrior, "oh, well i guess i should mention that i told her about the invasion"?!

Also, am i the only one who was nearly as impressed with Sokkas arc and development as a character as i was with Zuko? Its super easy to view him as your stereotypical "comic relief" character, ESPECIALLY in book 1. But i did truly grow to love and respect the hell out of Sokka as the series continued. As laughable as it was in book 1 when he called himself the leader, he really DID become the leader of the gaang. An extremely good one, too. Man, the way this show handles character development truly is masterful writing.

FUCKING THANK YOU. Sokka 100% should have gone to take that battlement out with Hakoda. Katara had that shit on lock alone, easy.

He does NOT have a point. The avatar TRANSCENDS loyalty to any one nation. Their concern is balance. To keep and maintain peace between the nations. They cant do that if theyre only loyal to their own nation.

Its not that Zuko is bipolar (although he might be, anybody who has endured what he has at such a young age is bound to have some mental issues) but this is him lashing out. He doesn't yet realize that the person he is angry with is himself. He doesn't yet understand that the choice he made was not the choice he truly wanted. When we are in deep pain like that, its often easiest to lash out at the ones who love us the most, because we know (even if its subconsciously) that they'll likely forgive us for it. Zuko simply needs to learn that the true measure of a person isn't about how well they succeed at being the person they're supposed to be, but by how well they succeed at being themselves.

We all hate the Dai Li. Even worse? Their entire order was founded by Avatar Kyoshi herself. They should all be ashamed.

I feel it's okay to say this since you've finished the show. Notice, there was only ONE person throughout the ENTIRE show that never once struggled against Azula. Not Iroh. Not the Avatar himself, but Katara! Each time we See Katara and Azula have any sort of actual 1v1 face off, Katara proves herself to be the better fighter. Katara may have started out a bit underpowered, but personally i feel she's every bit the prodigy Azula is. Possibly even more so.

A lot of people seem to think that Aang letting go of Katara means he can't love or be with her. Thats not exactly what it means. Liken it to like.... Anakin Skywalker. It wasnt his love of Padme that lead him to the dark side. It was his inability to accept the loss of those he cared about. Aang can absolutely love Katara and be with her. The whole point, basically, is that he needs to be able to set aside his feelings for her if a situation impedes his ability to perform his duty as the Avatar.

Man. They take you completely by surprise by making you actually kinda like jet again, then they frikkin murder him.
