That is SUCH an excellent Crowded House comp Rick. This comp was released when Crowded House were touring and preparing for their next album after Paul Hesteter left the band, so if I’m right, it contains the only tracks recorded with his replacement, the now late Peter Jones on drums. He was a member from 94 to 96 when Neil shocked everyone and disbanded the band. He sits in at the farewell concert at Sydney Operahouse on a couple of tracks where Paul sings lead. He since went back to teaching and passed away in 2012. There’s a double CD of this as well, with some very cool live recordings, even from Paul Hesters last show with the band. Well worth getting if you see it. Cheers from Morten 😊
@@MortenAastad After I shot this video I put away the CDs and found out that I do indeed already have that Crowded House CD. I guess that shows my affection for this band…or just my bad memory.
@@rickandrecords Oh, he he. Oooh well. Better to be safe than sorry eh? I’ve done that myself.
Great Jeff Beck haul for sure. That 'who else' is a favorite compilation. Good day overall Rick 🎉
@@3dimensionsofmusic3D Thx Greg. There were other people eagerly snatching up CDs and records. I was glad to get what I found considering the feeding frenzy. Relics for 10.80 in NM The as none to shabby. There is one booth there with all the rare stuff in great condition: Ultimate Spinach, Captain Beefheart, Buckingham Nicks, but the prices are astronomical. Content with today’s finds.
The wifes revenge… nice,….lol
@@anthonywright9805 she doesn’t realize what she has started though. I feel a punk concert coming on. Lol.
@@rickandrecords I took my wife (girlfriend) long time ago for punk show. Band was JMKE from Estonia (1st punk band from Soviet Estonia). They had radio hit "Tere Perestroika" that is quite melodic punk... but all the rest of the songs were pure hardcore... Yes, she hated it. Lucky they played Tere perestroika like three times, because they didn't have many songs then - and it was only song people knew here.
@@TommysVinylnautJust as long as we love one another and get along I guess our spouses can hate our music. lol. I have a hard time appreciating quite a bit of her music too. We meet in the middle with classic rock from the UK and US mostly. I venture more into music from other countries than she does, but it’s ok…it’s just music after all. Thx for your story. Men and women are different all over the world and then again…much the same too. Cheers.
@@rickandrecords Lucky that I have learned to like finnish schlager. Sanna can sing all the 70s and 80s schalger hits... But I have a plan to take her in punk concert again!
I pre-listen, especially to albums I might now know very well or newer ones. Billy's later stuff is solid!
@@EmbryonicRobot At Megadeth show even as I type. First two bands were a bit much for us, but I am ready for Dave and crew to do there thing,
Great video! You have goooooood taste, so I want to recommend 2 vinyl releases to you. Medieval Death LP and free DVD and the Mordicus “Rights ‘n Trials” LP. If you want to know more Google [Medieval Death LP and free DVD + Mordicus “Rights ‘n Trials” LP], then check audio, videos etc. \m/
@@TheCoverUpsLondonUK Thx for the tip. I will check these out for sure.
@@rickandrecords Great, let me know what you thought ;-)
Rush and Bob Dylan would make my top 20. Maybe Genesis, but I'd have to think about it. . .
@@EmbryonicRobot I should do a video on bands that used to be in my top 20: Clapton, Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. Maybe I will,
I do the same thing. It just builds the excitement for the concert I'm headed to. Currently doing that with Sheepdogs and Sturgill Simpson. I'll be seeing both of them in the next week and a half.
I’d love to see Sturgill Simpson. Have fun with those!
Have fun at the concert. I think catching up on the band's songs is a good idea. The live experience is enhanced even more I think. When I had a tour in the UK I would take the bus down to Cambridge University to buy records at the outdoor market. I used to come back with 25 to 50 at a time. At a pound apiece and the dollar strong it was awesome. I watched that video too. I see his point but he's also got an impressive collection and Someone brought all that home 😊.
@@3dimensionsofmusic3D lol. Yup. I’m still around 4000 records myself. Many were given to me and many more were super cheap. I have paid retail a lot too, but never more than say 8-12 at once. And maybe only once or so a year.
New subscriber! Thanks for sharing these bands. Some I want even familiar with. Looking forward to more good stuff. I think I'll go and look at some of your older videos now.
@@shortfuseartstudio Hey thanks for the sub. Much appreciated. What are some of your favorite bands?
@@rickandrecords I really dig Sheepdogs, Record Company, Willie Nelson, Sturgill Simpson, Natural Child, Charles Mingus, Zappa, Mother Love Bone, and Velvet Underground. Those are some favorites.
Interesting list for sure! Rush and Deep Purple would make mine would have to think about the rest
@@TheAuditoryVinyl I think my list could easily change at least once a month. Go through hades on a regular basis of ear guzzling different bands…binges if you will.
Pt. 2: I have been doing more and more Deep Purple listening as well. I used to own When We Rock on CD, but replaced it with "The Very Best of Deep Purple" from 2000.
@@old4mat I have had nothing but an ever-increasing love for DP. I have many OG first pressings and most of the studio albums. I’m missing a few, but they’re on my radar. If you haven’t heard Whoosh I highly recommend that DP album.
@rickandrecords Whoosh is on my list of DP albums to listen to next. I just put in an Amazon order for their 2013 album Now What?! Two weeks ago myself. Definitely recommended!
Hi Rick! My thoughts on your complete discography question. I dont think you need to own a complete discography to label someone a favourite. Stone Temple Pilots are arguably my favourite band, but I don't own their High Rise EP, or Perdida. The same could be said for countless others including AC/DC, Alice Cooper, and so on. I really liked your picks. Some of those i need to investigate further. Thanks for posting, and take care!
@@old4mat Agree totally. I think one exceptional album could easily win someone over. In the hand 20 albums by some band may not be enough to win me over. For example I have 5 Pearl Jam albums and I have heard tons of their music, but I just cannot get into them. Mark Kelly’s Marathon came out a few years ago and they’re now an instant favorite…I just hope they put out more albums.
@@rickandrecords I hear you about Pearl Jam. I love the first three, I dig No Code and Yield, but they lost me in the 2000s. I struggle to get into their 2006 S/T album, but I'm slowly liking Gigaton more.
I love Helloween!
@@ChrisPropfeMusicallyObsessed power metal royalty right there.
I feel for the kids of the US. Going to school shouldnt be so dangerous. Nice to focus on some positive records for a few min. Stay safe Rick!
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Thx. It would be great if a kid could actually see this video or one like it and give it a try. There is a lot negative, influential pop culture out there…but plenty of good to.
Hi Rick - This is truly awful. I think Western Stars is a solid album. I like it way more than I thought and way more than his recent soul album.
@@EmbryonicRobot yeah. The soul album fell a little flat for me. Western Stars feels more…I don’t know…immersive? Sucks you into the narrative.
That's awful we don't see that here in canada because of the gun laws and yes we all need positive messages love anything by Petra
It is a crazy world right now.
@@SteveSmith-md1fl Best to hunker down and spin some records or hit up the record shop before it gets dark out and Gotham goes berserk.
Hi Rick! We are living in a scary world.
@@MGKBOSTON People need to value each other more and realize life is precious. But yeah…it definitely can be scary.
I love the message here Rick. I'm glad everyone is ok. It's a such a scary situation. As far as feel good records or artists I think I'd throw in some early Beach Boys like the Surfer Girl album.
Good one Bill. Beach Boys is a great idea, Maybe we need a change in eras. That era had its issues, but nothing like this school violence epidemic.
Narada! New age was the first genre of music I really got into back in the day, and Narada was one of my favorite labels (along with Private Music). I got rid of most of my Narada titles a long time ago, but have recently been re-buying a handful of them. Tingstad & Rumbel may be my favorite Narada artist, but I also like Peter Buffett, Bruce Mitchell, and a few others. I've been wanting to do a series of "label spotlight" videos, and I'm probably going to have to add Narada to the list of candidates. :) Thanks for another fun video!
@@TomsHitParade me too. Had lots of New Age back in the day, but like so many others got rid of them for some stupid reason. Buying them back now.
whoa, had a flashback of my heavy drinking days, thought I was falling over! nice haul, pink has improved over the years she does a coll cover of Zeps Babe Im Gonna Leave You, and Me and Bobby McGee
@@TheAuditoryVinyl I was going to toss the video out and start over, but I was just…well…lazy. No other excuse.
Nice spot to film Rick. I do like Alestorm, and its been recently announced that they are coming to New Zealand next year. Gonna try hard to go to the concert, it would be so much fun.🏴☠ That Stevie Wonder comp is a good one, i used to own it on C.D. Have no idea what happened to it. The best vacations are the ones that factor in Record store visits😅
@@AttackFromDownunda I’d love to see Alestorm, but even more I’d love to see New Zealand. Since coming back from vacation I’ve been listening to all these picks. 40 spins so far of just the new stuff. I bought a bunch. Thus may take a while.
Lots of listening ahead for you! Enjoy. Love the Thor and Raven. JM Jarre nice pick up too! Ive been hooked on Mike McDonald's I Keep Forgetting all summer! I dont know that Triumph album. Cheers man
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Thx for watching. That Triumph album is probably their most obscure since Rik Emmett left the band but then and their following drastically fell off in the early 90s as mist people think they broke up when Rik left. Anyway…it’s decent, but in a world of grunge it didn’t really keep up with the times. Have a good one!
Love Opeth!!!
@@erictaylor5538 This will be my first listen to them at any significant length. I’m looking forward to it.
@@rickandrecords Ghost Reveries is my favorite album, even over "Blackwater Park". I prefer the clean vocals over the growl. Love how their also proggy as well.
Oh some very nice ones there! And unknown. But Mastadon! I didn’t know them at all, took a chance. They were the first new metal band for me after I got my recordplayer after 19 years without. So also the first band I solely collected on vinyl in many years! So, that was a good start to the post vacation blues Rick! 😊
@@MortenAastad oh yes and those post vacation blues will hit hardest when it’s back to work tomorrow.
Great pick ups my kind of vacation when the wife and I do road trips or go on vacation I'm always looking for cd's and vinyl 😆
@@manofmiracles Same here. Good times.
Testify by P.O.D. is my favourite out of these. Love seeing these types of videos, you cover a good variety of music🤘
I have a bunch of P.O.D., but sadly I was an idiot and tossed the jewel cases and art for some dumb reason…so now I am slowly re-buying them. Thx for watching. Yeah…I listen to a bit of everything.
Welcome back! Glad you had fun! That looks like a lot of spins coming up! I love Californication too. Been a while since I gave it a spin though. Just got finished playing Blood, Sugar. Myself. Michael McDonald's I keep forgetting is a definite banger for sure! Take care!
Thx! The spins have begun…and will be going on and on and… lol
Forecast calls for pain - great song by Robert. Love the setting Rick well done 👍. Big plans for more music, pace yourself Black Friday RSD too 😅
Lots of great finds! Did you forget to show Flogging Molly? They are a cool band and no one ever shows them!
@@TheAuditoryVinyl I bet I did. Ooops. Yea, got the Anthems CD. I’m just getting into them.
Looks beautiful and calm and very nice 😊
@@MortenAastad Very peaceful place place and a great record store just 6 miles away. If I had the funds I would retire here. Great place.
@@rickandrecords I know all about that last part (allthough that place has no record stores).
Looks like a great score! I love the view behind you! Have fun in Indiana!
Thx. The vacation is wrapping up, but we had a lot of fun...and yeah...that view was amazing.
Robert cray awsome stuff
Next stop is the St. Louis Record Show at the Czech Hall. It's been about a year since I've gone.
cool you have a passport album, rick!! i havent came across anyof that jazz fusion band's records yet!!
I find their stuff from time to time; not terribly difficult around here, but sometimes I feel they are a little overpriced.
I'd love to visit that rock Hall of Fame. I remember going into the Hard Rock Cafe in Australia and admiring all the music memorabilia on the walls. Came away with a hat only. I have those Santana records you showed, cool you got one with a gatefold. And have almost nabbed that " Aphrodites Child " but was just a bit to slow. Still looking!. Cheers Rick.
@@AttackFromDownunda I’ve only been to the Hard Rock Cafe in St. Louis. I’m not sure if it’s still there. Loved it though. We have a Rock n Brews in St. Louis owned by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and it’s a pretty cool restaurant too. Sort of like a Hard Rock.
i have the autobahn album that steppenwolf album and that X album, you showed, rick, i like em!
@@Wyoming_Dave I’m looking forward to having a listening party when I get home,
@@rickandrecords rock on!!
Hi Rick! I was at the R n R Hall of Fame twice in the late 90s. It was still a fairly new thing at that point. There was a big record store on one side of the main floor that was mostly CDs at the time. I bought some things that I still have.
@@MGKBOSTON I grew up in Cleveland, but it wasn’t finished when I left. Simply had to buy music from there. No CDs these days; just vinyl.
Great pick ups and good luck with your next adventure of your vacation
@@manofmiracles Thx! Having a blast, but can’t wait to get back to the turntable in StL to play these finds and the OG freebies my aunt handed to me yesterday…been coveting the Vertigo Aphrodite’s Child 666 album for a while now so to score a free copy is awesome
Rick your review of the Hall of Fame was fantastic. I'm about 2 hrs away and never been. Your recollection is remarkable. So many great additions to the collection from your auntie. Premium goodies to be sure. VG+ Santana all day long 😊. Thanks for sharing 🙏
@@3dimensionsofmusic3D Greg, thx for watching! You should definitely check it out. Very interesting. Just the interactive area alone is a spot I could have spent hours in.
Ah yes, that museum. I spent time and effort voting for Iron Maiden, 3 years in a row. Each year they ended up in the top 5 and each year the place ignored the fans and added more… rap. So, I may not be a fan of their perceived handling of the legacy of rock. BUT I really enjoyed you talking about your experience and all the photos were amazing. Wow, mint Abraxas! Love that album and its one ‘norwegian’ member. That Carly Simon album is gorgeous! As is she. Did you know there was a Danish psych rock band maaany years ago called Steppeulvene (Danish for, you got it, Steppenwolf!) Great T-shirt 😊
@@MortenAastad I did not know that. Interesting.
Always happy when I see a fellow VC’er get some Crowded House! Together Alone is my favorite album. It is one of my biggest irritations that I didn’t get it on vinyl back in 2016. Lucky Thirteen is a comp of Geffen stuff and several un-released tracks 😊 Enjoy your vacation!
The Ronnie Laws Pressure Sensitive is one of my favorites from him. Lots of good finds. Mentor - you couldn't swing by Pittsburgh?😆. Safe travels my friend.
@@3dimensionsofmusic3D Cleveland is as far east as we’re going this time. Heading to North Indiana tomorrow
I used to like Zooropa quite a bit. Almost like a part two or bonus tracks for Achtung Baby. Bono has just become too much of a shmuck in later years. Nice Rush album!
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz I agree on the schmuckiness of Bono. I always thought he seemed sort of arrogant. Hope I’m wrong. I prefer early U2…the 80s stuff pre-Zoo.
That Deep Purple cover.. man total lazyness. I might actually get it now that I saw them do a couple cuts live and they were pretty good. Oh the Library does those plastic covers. Weird that they are sold that way sometimes. Is that a Syd Barrett Floyd LP? Love their early psych stuff. That Peter Frampton cover and title..lol always cracks me up.
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz I still haven’t gotten around to listening to that DP, but I do love them and I’m sure it’ll be good. The lineup on the Pink Floyd for that album was David Gilmour - acoustic, electric and pedal steel guitars, VCS 3 synthesiser, bass guitar, vocals Nick Mason - drums, percussion Roger Waters - bass guitar, vocals Richard Wright - Hammond organ (2, 3, 5-7, 10), piano (5, 6, 9, 10), Farfisa organ (10), VCS 3 synthesiser, electric piano, vocals. No Syd unfortunately. My next Floyd pickup will be be Atom Heart Mother. Hope you had a good weekend!
Crappy taste in music.

Ghost Poets.....not too shabby....good recommendation. Another decent band from your wide range of knowledge!
I have heard a Scarlett Johansson song. She has a pretty good voice. Pogues are awesome!
@@EmbryonicRobot Her voice is unique. I dig it. I’m new to the Pogues, but am enjoying everything I’ve heard.
Funny, I suppose proper fans of Primal Scream would disagree, but XTRMNTR is probably my favorite of theirs. Listened to it the most thats for sure! Odd but great Zooropa. 1993.
