K REND SILICONE FT rendering system application.
Mike Weston Plastering based on the Isle of Wight.
A shortened version of K REND application. This is Silicone FT in White which I must say has a very nice finish to it.

K rend silicone ft render talk through and application
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
Quite a long video this one! I know there is more that one way to do this system but this is what I was taught and do. Gives good results. The K rend Silicone FT is one of the harder top coats to apply but is well worth it as it repels the water and is less likely to stain. It also looks great. Here is my method which hopefully helps someone looking to do these rendering systems.

A walk through of the basic process of plastering a ceiling. Something I do on a regular basis on the Isle of Wight. First time talking on camera so a bit awkward :D

Great video, what is the total thickness is it 15mm and does the basecoat (scratched coat) have mesh embedded in it and can you apply both coats the same day?

Why mesh when going onto solid blockwork? I thought mesh was for cement board where there are joints!! You don't mesh sand and cement render which is what I would have done on solid blockwork 🤔

Hawks are so slow - I have been plastering 30 year and my boys and I only use a 6-inch broad knife and a 20 x 5 trowel.... You should try that - you'll find it's more efficient and economical, also produce more from your man hours.

Why are you basecoating concrete blocks? Yeh scrim your stress points etc but correct me if im wrong but you can apply monocouche/ k rend straight onto that surface no base required unless obviously thermalight blocks, old brick etc then yeh base coat?

    • @Happytruth

Maybe it even up the suction more ready for the top coat just a guess, I’m not sure myself why this stuff is called one coat because every video I’ve seen on TH-cam apart from machine spraying they apply one thin coat then another straight over the top.

Nice job mate but if you do two passes straight away wet on wet then you don't have too worry about flattening or trying too keep enough thickness for your second pass. Also you won't have too worry about scraping back too first pass. I would personally have another spread with me going behind ruling I have done smaller areas on my own but just too be sure if have someone incase I start too loose it but still nice job also pain getting shut lines k rend is simple but can go wrong I think you would agree lol
