    Sorry I missed you, stuck working. I did hope to go this year but life is in the way as usual. Done bloody well on your own in my opinion, what might be an idea is having one of the tables set up for cleaning and maintaining the weapons or equipment. We used to have an m2 stripped down into components being cleaned, permanently. It sounds mundane and boring, but no different to someone sitting there shaving or making a cup of tea. Hey! I’m running the solex on my jeep. Does exactly the same thing. So what I discovered is that the solex doesn’t the a metering rod like the carte. This moves up and down when you open the throttle and is seated closed at idle or when the engine is off. The solex fuels difficultly but the long and short of it is. When it gets hot after 5min sitting under and hot engine all the fuel boils over into the inlet manifold. You can see this if you pop off the intel horn when you stop your jeep. Mine spits fuel out until probably a whole bowl of fuel is used. Obviously when you go to restart it’s now over fuelled. One way to remedy this is to start the engine with almost full throttle to draw loads of air in. It does start a bit easier.

    the one thing that mainly caught my eye is the m41 jacket you're rocking. Id say it looks too big on you. What brand is it and how old? there seems to be something amiss with the sleeve/body lenght ratio to me. Which is what really identifies a good m41. @@blastbri1997 Really about the ATF ones? I've seen lots of complaints/ disappointment that they don't do wool lining to "save the consumer some money" but I haven't heard anything beyond that. The lining is why I don't have one myself. I have the second to latest WPG run and love it except for the pockets being low and the lining getting loose and baggy because I machine washed and dried the jacket but that's on me. I also have a Bronson and really like it, no complaints from me but the lining may be too green for someone's taste. However I don't think that's inaccurate, og lining color probably varies a bit. My only real complaint about WWII Imp is the cost. Sure the quality is probably some of the best but it's almost prohibitive to get more than one or two items from them when there are plenty of cheaper, still good quality vendors out there.

    I just thought to myself that I hadn't seen an upload for a while, glad your well. As for the smoothness on the gopro? pretty sure you can turn the stabilisation off on them, honestly though and in my opinion it might not have the desired effect that you have in mind. Worth a try though obviously, looking good though so keep going.

    Same hot start issue on my 48 though I had been able to reduce the number of hot cranks a bit with different adjustments. But you’re trading one thing for another. All my steel / cast iron old motors do exactly the same … they all have the carb on top of a heat source. Our Jeeps carb is in a ridiculously hot spot … over / directly on the exhaust manifold. I’d imagine they did this to help with icing as it was designed to start in a time when weather didn’t dictate your daily commute. When it was time to go, you go. On my fuel injected airplane, cold starts are a breeze. Hot starts take a lot of skill and finesse. About three to five minutes after shut down you can hear the fuel boiling off and hissing from the stainless fuel lines and injectors that are routed directly over the cylinders. Shut down and restart straight away, no issues. Wait ten to twenty minutes … now you’re in the hot zone when it’s going to blow vapor and balls of fire. You have to clear the vapor from all the lines before it will run. Just a more dramatic version of what’s happening in our little Jeeps. My little 48 runs best when I fill it with 100LL … 100 octane, super high lead content fuel. (Likely not available outside of the states.) Want to see your little beauty smile … belly it up to a tank at your local air field and fill it with a few hundred pints of Avgas. Cheers!

    I have a Willys 1948 Cj2A with a Solex carb which was fitted in America. From cold the jeep starts first time but if it gets up to working temperature it's as you described first turn of the key and it won't start but will on the second turn. Once the jeep is started it runs great with good mpg, I have recently fitted new points, plugs and plug leads and even a new distributor (Joes Motor Pool) so the only thing I can think of is the fuel is vaporising while the jeep is hot and standing. The fuel pipe on these jeeps does run a bit close to the exhaust pipe.

    • @Truffle1947
      @Truffle1947 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am convinced that is the problem with these solex carbs! I keep seeing other Jeeps that are the same which have them fitted.

    Fantastic video. Thanks for the knowledge, I dont have a 44 pack but it works on other packs I have. My dad also left me a lot of Korean War stuff, sort of the same as WW2 and some improvements or evolved stuff. He was a corporal on a hill with 250 of his company when they were attacked by a Chinese division. Around 2am they ran out of ammo and fought with handgrenades, shovels, bayonets, pickaxes and rocks. He says around 5am, British troops showed up to relieve them. Up to that time, my dad thought he was going to die on that hill. In the morning, they counted 3000 dead Chinese, all the way up the hill. Out of 250, they lost about 100 total killed and wounded. He always bought drinks for British soldiers when ever he had a chance after that.
