Considering his 6:14 in Inzell, Jordan should be able to skate a sub 6:10 time in Salt Lake. That would put him on #1 on the adelskalender and then he'd also have beaten all of Shani Davis' personal bests, as he has a 6:10.49 on the 5k.

Calling Bradbury a one hit wonder is a bit unfair. He already had a world championships title, and an olympic medal at that time. One you missed from the olden days, Dmitry Ogloblin. Broke the world record 10k set by Eric Heiden, but never showed any real results in international competitions.

I dont think shorttrack is the future of ice skating. The only advantage is that it can be held on a hockey rink and there is a lot of action. The drawbacks are that races are too often decided by falls, or disqualifications due to pushing. I think the sport is at its limit of what it can be. The skaters are going so fast that it is almost impossible to overtake. I think the future of ice skating is more in the long track races with a similar format to mass start and/or shorttrack. The long track allows for easier overtaking and as a result less falls and dq's, but it is still very competitive and interesting to watch. I think they should expand the mass start to much more distances and include the dutch style marathon. For example a 1500m or 1000m mass start with 8 riders (and no teams) per race and no warm up lap, shorttrack style basically. A long distance (100 lap or so) race with up to 50 riders and teams. I also think events like all round should be made Olympic. To accodomate for all the extra time it takes to run the extra events they should consider riding 4 riders per race for all single distances beyond 1000m, instead of 2, especially for the 5k and 10k. The general public is simply not so interested in watching only 2 riders skate laps for 13 minutes. I love the 10km event personally, but most people do not.

Those Viking bridges aren't new. The heavier Dutch sprinters have been using them on sapphire blades for quite some time. At least Otterspeer is using them since 2021. The old bridges are really the achilles heel of viking blades, have seen too many break. But so far Viking hasn't been selling the new bridges to the "normal" skaters. Hopefully that will change, and everybody can get them.

Without looking up the answer: That must be Claudia Pechstein's 6:46.91 from the 2002 Olymics, right? Or maybe Greta Smit's 6:49.22 is still just in the top 20? Wotherspoon, deserved, one of the best sprinters alltime. Hedrick... Sorry, bs... You are including his inline performances. Don't get me wrong, he was a very good speedskater, but top 10 of all time? Seems a bit chauvinistic. Sorry... he should not be in the top 10. Oscar Mathisen is absolutely deserving this top 10. And considering the time of being the best he indeed deserves a higher place then Jeremy. (Did you know he also has a brother who was a very good speed skater? Not better then Chad Hedrick though ;-) ) Ballengrud is not that game changing as Mathisen was. He was very good at that time, sure. But I would have chosen other skaters then him. The fact that you don't pay so much attiontion him in this video, says enough ;-) Thunsberg is, for my feeling, a bit between Mathisen and Ballenrud. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for the top 10 Koss.... He is too low in your top 10... But only 1 place.. (By the way, yes he did 4 Olypic golds, but not all in the same Olympics. His first one was in 1992, Albertville, the other 3 in Hamar (Lillehammer). Nevertheless, one of my personal heroes. Ard Schenk is definately entitled to be in this top 10. I am from the Netherlands, so yes I am very proud and thankful that he is in your top 10. I also think, in best speedskaters of al time, that he should swap places with.... Koss ;-) Shani Davis cannot be out this top 10. He certainly has leveled up the sport in his category, 1000 and 1500. And he did that for so long. But I think he should have been on Ballengrud's place. (I think Stolz should have been 3, already, and that guy can be even #1 of all time the next years) Heiden or Kramer... That is an impossible choice. Not only because of different eras.. Or maybe just indeed of the different eras.... I am not saying you made the right or wrong choice in #1 and #2. For me the fact is that they are absolutely the two best speedskaters ever. So, in summary: in spite of some bad choices, in general your judgement about this wonderful sports is fantastic. Thanks for sharing this guys
