Testing the cheapest Amazon exhaust for the MT07
มุมมอง 39ปีที่แล้ว
So this is a place holder exhaust for my MT-07. The M4 will be in soon but I needed to take the stock exhaust off first so here we go! Doesn’t sound horrible but there is also nothing on the hanger to secure the muffler to the bracket? Who knows, it was cheap and temporary. KLX 300 sm vs DRZ 400 sm Part 2! Post winter review

So after the winter of the bikes sitting and going out for the first few spring rides between all the bikes, it dawned on me that the power difference between the DRZ and KLX is quite the gap. Don't get me wrong, both are great bikes, just the raw power of the DRZ was eye opening after not riding either bike for a few months.

    Hi - Did you leave the stock exhaust gasket on the mid pipe? I am switching from the upswept slip-on to the hi-output exhaust, and I had to remove that gasket for that install. I think not having it there is keeping the 48427 exhaust extremely loose. If it's not that, then I suspect that rubber grommet connection is pretty dicey. Thank you!

    • @SloMoto85

    The FRC carb is not really much better than a properly jetted stock carb. Especially considering the cost. You would be better off buying a FMF Powerbomd header and their 4Q muffler. The JD jet kit is also very effective. Replacing the o-ring chain with a quality standard chain will also free up some power. I have an opened up DRZ400E with the original FCR carb. And my buddy has all the mods I mentioned, on his DRZ400S. There is not a noticeable difference in the power of the two bike. His JD jet kit was about $80. The FCR kits are typically around $400. Your money is better spent on the exhaust system.

    • @SloMoto85
      @SloMoto85 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did the jet kit, just still wanting more. Have a few friends who have done the FRC and they had positive responses even with the Chinese clone ones so might throw one on. You can basically make the Dr.Z fuel injected - it's just prohibitively expensive. Check out the SMART carb 2. It will atomize fuel and never needs to be adjusted. It's basically a mechanical fuel injection system. More power AND better fuel economy - but it's like $1000. Yikes.

    It’s interesting to hear your take on the drz. I have had a couple wr250’s, a x and a r model converted to sumo. Personally I prefer them more due to weight and crispy-ness if that’s a word lol. They definitely lack the torque of the drz but I like bikes that you have to rev out to ride effectively I guess. I also owned a drz between the two but it was kind of a turd honestly so that probably doesn’t help my biased opinion. I’d be interested to ride a klx300 though, I’d bet it’s comparable to the wr250’s, good video man!

    Content is KING.....Style is for most MILLENIALS and younger and those that still live in mom's basement with no real life experiences....Great video! Real life stuff, not a fashion-make-me-feel good pooh-pooh. Having said that, the Suzie is going to feel faster because....torque is always king and is always related to displacement. But then with a few performance mods, you were able to make the Kawie into an-all-you-may-ever-need base MODERN bike. The few extra 2-4 hp you add in the middle allow it to cruise much easier at 75 speedometer indicated (closer to 71-72 actual real?) meaning that cruising at right under 80 indicated (75 actual) is a possibillity. I love the Z400 naked bike, I believe it to be the best value out there today in all types of motorcycling, period. But the KLX300SM opens more possibilities and for me it is a toss-up of how much off-road I may want to do vs the dirt-friendlier KLX300. The Suzie is a great bike but older in the same vein that the heavier (older)DR650S and (newer)KLR650 are. If the DRZ400SM were to be upgraded to FI and a 6th gear plus some suspension bits, it would walk away from all SM in being the best value for the buck and JAPANESE in its reliability killing the need to spend $4 - $5 k into more expensive, less reliable and maintenance-extensive Eurobikes. No mods necessary or mandatory there. Until then, the KLX300SM is the winner in the value SM category.

Having the ability to ride on the street and easily transition to offroad has made me love riding motorcycles even more. If youre looking for something super fast, this bike isnt for you. @udmbfckx2916 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello. What was the total cost of the performance mods? The DR-Z400SM is already highway capable in stock form, but it costs $1500 more.....list price of course. Your mods puts it at about the same performance level as the as the DR-Z. I saw a decent 75 MPH Highway cruise at around 6500 - 7000 rpm. And a little reserve passing power.

    • @bmotomo421
      @bmotomo421 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short of major internal engine mods, the KLX 300 cannot be modified to equal the power of a bone stock DRZ. Not to mention, the bikes don't even compare in build quality. The DRZ is built a level or two above the KLX. That's not to say the KLX isn't a nice bike. But there are legitimate reasons for the higher price of the DRZ.

    Hey guy I'm a fellow grom rider and I weigh about 260 lbs. I'm really curious to see what kind of speeds you get. Mine will only run 55 to 58 with me on it stock. Thanks for the video keep up the good work.

      *I’m about 250lbs and I got mine to hit 75mph on flat highway tucking really hard. Red lining 5th gear, but I read it can be bad for the bike to push it that hard.*
