I’m Brett’s friend
This belt concept is great. I do wish, however, that you guys would make it so there was small MOLLE webbing on the top and bottom side of the belt chassis like the Ronin belt or Ferro Bison belt. I personally want to use all the MOLLE slots, not just a few like was demonstrated in the video. And having a top and bottom slot instead of the single weave point around the belt would prevent vertically mounted MOLLE pouches from sliding or pivoting. Only a slight modification and this could be the single most desirable belt for anybody doing load rated climbing and helo ops because of y'all's innovative redundancy with the harness backing up the cobra buckle.
Hey thanks for the comment! Our slightly larger 2" Chassis has the MOLLE on the top and the bottom like you described. You should definitely check it out 😎 The link to our brief video on the 2" Chassis below: th-cam.com/video/R6m98pWmJ2U/w-d-xo.html
@@ctomsinc. Well that's just perfect, haha! I'll order one.
@@c14davidhopkins Awesome! I hope it treats you well 👍
Thank You for this life saving video
Thank You for providing this life saving information series
What is your size of rope and can you get all of this off of North American rescue
We have 6 and 6.8mm ropes for our TRACE systems. TRACE kits and rope are available from our website ctomsinc.com
What harness are you using??
That is one of our M3 Belt/Harness systems.
Impressive
I’m in a vegetative state as I lay in my bed watching random videos. I don’t think I’ll ever need one of these, but it’s good to know there is such a product to rely on if I ever, on the off chance, I decide to take up skydiving and happen to get myself into a predicament and have to rely on a self-rescue from a tree. I will have a sound snooze tonight.
will this make me batman?
Im interested in this for construction rescue. We wear fall restraint harness' alpt but dont always have a good way to retrieve a fallen person down a shaft. If they could repel down to access or we could repel down to them to hook up winch etc. Very interested
This could be used for that i reckon. the tricky bit would be ensuring a good tie off point and you would need a rubber mat or something for whatever edge you're going over. sharp, 90 degree concrete corners are not kind to ropes.
Has it been tested in cold conditions? I’ve seen a pretzel ID fail do to a little snow/ice in a lift evac.
Disagree with regard to Ski Patrol… we can’t leave crap hanging from a chair after we bail off. Someone would need to go back up to remove the thing before they can restart a chairlift.
5:29 does he demonstrate this with his full body weight, plus some kind of gear, on the rope? Or just standing next to it, on the ground, with half a pound of sand on the rope?
Color code the halves of the saddle straps. Each strap is half red and half white, so that the carabiner can be looped confidently. Also feed up to 10 feet of rope through the arrester, or leave a loose service loop that the user can either extend or retract (up or down) to where they are. Starting the arrester right the beginning of the rope from the factory makes no sense.
Thanks.
so when your on rappel you have zero way of going up? when you have your thumb in the rope what prevents you from falling and amputating your thumb or breaking it? Petzl, Steriling ropes and black diamond all have similar systems this also encourages poor rappel techniques The tail is always your brake strand you should apply friction to the brake strand . you should send one to @RichardMumford1 for a review. your going to get someone killed @hownot2 could break your device in there sleep
3.8 mm rope. Wow. What a great device.
knowing how stupid I can be when flooded with adrenaline after an incident I worry the black lines of the diaper sling could be a source of error. Having a colored sleeve at the apex of each would make it much easier to see that you actually do have all three locked in, rather than having dropped one or grabbed a hanging riser or whatnot, since under a tree canopy etc. it would be hard to see them. Clearly you shouldn't be relying on vision, should verify both when first connecting and later, but let's say you grabbed a hanging riser instead and it felt taught when checked... and it's not like you'll be relying on extensive muscle memory. Since it's a tiny addition it might be worth it even for the unlikely risk.
I haven't had coffee yet .. wouldn't use diaper if in harness already.
If trained on this it's extra method as critical redundancy and a step by step diagram card would cool but it's definitely worth sending to test please Ukraine would appreciate it for sure
Will it take a whipper?
Dude, vascular thrombophlebitis could become life threatening if left unchecked. I hope you get that and your heart checked out.
You supply this to the govt? Lemme guess its $3k then. If someone supplies a govt agency have you noiticed the cost is suddenly 5000% more?
Can we get an FR rope and device only?
Amazing bit of kit, hopefully never have to be used but life saving if you need it.
$340+!😮 I’ll just call the fire department to get me down lol
“ can be used up to 3 times “ I’d say if you’ve had to use this more than 2 times, you may need a new hobby!😂
I just bought four units. I just dont trust my pavelow mechanics.
When he said pouch i knew he was canadian.
looks like getting both feet in the lift might help, maybe just stepping your free foot on the captive foot might work
bad desighn. protect the heated part.
Does the device have a panic stop feature on the brake?
Suggest adding a stop at the end of the cord using an easy plate or stop knot, this will prevent you from reppeling off the rope and falling if the rope / cord doesn’t reach your objective.

Uh hum uh huh
Sorry, but that device looks sketchy. Keep it simple. Just use a Munter hitch.
I guess over time we forgot how to climb down, we need safety tech now. Im tired of scared of everything America. Ill just take the string. Thanks.
He should get into the gym more often

Anyone else 5 mins in, wondering if he's even gonna rappel on it?
This is so much nicer than the equipment I first trained on, and still have in my shed. Where do I buy this?
holy smokes, as someone who has done a lot of rock climbing I was terrified when I once had to bail in an emergency on some 6mm cordage which is tiny and I didnt have a descender that would work with it so I had use several carabiners which obviously worked but its so not recommended, rappelling is more dangerous then climbing believe it or not so its awesome seeing a device like this, and thankfully 100% technora rope is unbelievably strong and handles higher temps very well, but at 3.6mm its like rappelling on dental floss albeit stupidly strong dental floss. I wann buy one of these so bad
Where can I buy this?
Excellent bit of kit👍
One locking carabiner, a rescue 8 (so you can double wrap for more control), a 5’ sewn loop of 2” flat webbing, and twice the length of however much 6mm spectra line you think you’ll need. Your system is cool but it leaves your rope attached at the top anchor making it unretrievable which, if you’re lowering from a ski lift, really complicates things when the problem is fixed and they want to spin the chair again. From a SERE perspective one might want to retrieve that line so they can use it in other applications. The sit harness you have is cool because it can double as a sand/snow anchor when no other appropriate anchor options are nearby but then you’re relegated to using a dölpher sitz which, if you’ve ever done one, sucks. But if you’re having to rap off a snow anchor your options are already limited. In caving, having tools with multiple applications is paramount and it’s for that reason I stick with a rescue 8 (the one with the ears). A lot of Gucci tools have come out over the years like the Petzl Stop, the Grigri, the Rescuecender, etc but they all seem to be very one-dimensional when it comes to application. Don’t get me wrong, they are great for whatever application they were designed but I’ve attended multiple tech rescue trainings over the years and everyone seems to want to roll with the new stuff until they put it into practice then they have to use other devices to solve the extra problems their new fangled toys don’t. This device is a very quickly deployed tool that will have a very limited application and if you keep that in mind it looks like it does that job very well but in my experience I prefer to be more flexible and able to deploy what gear I do have in more applications.
Concur that it isn't a multi-pitch and/or general sport climbing use, not even top-roping... However, note the narrator indicated this is for PARATROOPERS OR PARAGLIDERS.......... That is all, carry on.
Postscript - And Ski Patrol.
@@thomasandersen5349 I patrolled for years and always had my kit with me. You only have to sit on the chair once throughout a full-line evac to motivate you to carry your evac kit. I still prefer my rescue-8. The problem with this system on a ski lift is that the line can’t be self-retrieved. It has to be removed from the top which means someone has to ride the line or they have to run the chair with it dangling which could create even more problems. As far as for paragliding/etc. I can see the value as you will want to escape quickly and easily and this rig allows you to do so but for any application where the line needs to be retrieved I don’t see this working. It would be a cool system for a firefighter’s bailout kit but we’ve already got similar systems and this doesn’t offer anything new.
@@scdrescher1 I could see the use of this as a self rescue device for construction workers or anybody else working at height
@@WowCoolHorse totally could. That would be a great application. No such thing as bad gear, just bad application.
I'm very impressed with your restow of this device! Could you maybe take a stab at my sock and underwear drawer?
I just can’t bring myself to trust a man who shaves his arms
The repel devices seems over complicated considering it's for emergency use what if they hurt there hand or arm in the fall they would be unable to use your device I understand the safety perspective but it should be simpler to use if it's meant to be used while hanging from a tree an the the belay you should be able to use with 1 hand
How would someone rig an simpler system with 2 injured hands? You can use it with one hand. Did you even watch the video?
If anyone has ever climbed outside they are cringing at the tip of “brake hand not necessary” and watching the device continue to descend when hands off. If a device continues to descent hands off it is most certainly not “auto locking”. Cool idea but poor execution. Make your own system with pretzl products.
kinda like tree climbing
