Japanese Kanji are just like Transformer triple-changers by default, which can then be combined with other triple-changers to form bigger 3x3=9 triple-square-changer, and also include interchangeable headmaster feature to vary their stats. I love Kanji.
Useful advice, I might try wanikani. However for me, my learning progress switched gears when I got some japanese friends. In the beginning my head hurt after a day of hanging out. Before that, I had studied for around 3 years and knew what lots of words meant, but would struggle to transform a native japanese sentence into meaning as I heard it. After a while conversing with friends in person I started to naturally hear and separate the different words better, and automatically turn it into meaning. Which is one thing. Now you have to respond? Output is also something to get used to, and having friends to talk to really helps. You have to find someone who will put up with your broken baby japanese though haha! Having japanese friends will also motivate you to study more because it’ll make you want to be able to communicate better with them. Anyway, thank you for reading.
since the day i begun learning Japanese, i kept mixing English and japanese randomly. "i like it, demo, wait what-" when i bump into someone "oh gomen- i mean sorry!" when i call my friend. "hey ruk- i mean luke!" sometimes i even add honorifics by accident or automatically. i guess i should be lucky that nihong- i mean, Japanese is wrapping my mind up.
Can we learn through music? I love Otonoke by Creepy Nuts. That song makes me want to sing along

yes ofc, but dont expect it to be like your main way to learn or anything
NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN 🗣️
OMG HE SAID NAIN ✋😐
There is no silver bullet when it comes to learning another language. You still need to spend a lot of time and put effort into studying the basics, but if you can incorporate it into something you enjoy during your free time, such as listening to music, it will make a big difference. Your brain performs amazingly when you are relaxed.
those 2 websites are they still available i cant find them and if i i find them its not what you talked abou🥲
Sadly Learnjapanesewithanime was taken down suddenly by the author. Although JPDB is still up! ITs also the BEST Japanese dictionary for sentence mining.
"It only takes a few seconds to change your phone ro japanese," what does this mean exactly? What is veing changed?
As the "learning Japanese nitpickily at its core so I could always explain the underlying reason about the differences in each expression"-type of learner, I can safely state that both, は and が, are grammatically correct in that sentence, but they're carrying a different tone. ねこは魚を食べています。 This has a more generalized tone of repetitive action while rather speaking about _a_ cat's typical behavior; something like „Cats [always/habitually] eat fish.” or „Cats are [generally] eating fish.”. The ~ている form is not only "ing" per say, but can cover a range up to resultant states and even habitual ones, while especially in combination with は it emphasizes strongly that you're not necessarily talking about that one cat right in front of you - but about cats in general. ねこが魚を食べています。 This would be the direct interpretation „The/A cat is eating fish.” - no need to introduce a new topic with は - you and the person you're talking to already know what cat you're talking about (and if not then it's an unspecified new one), ending in a rather informative statement about [the/that one/a] cat's action eating fish. It's not hard and fast though, that the は-sentence is strictly meant to be as a generalization since it's an extremely context-related particle; so I'm just talking about a neutral scenario here. The secret about は is that it always silently grabs the closest context there currently is; so if you've been talking about football all the time and suddenly start saying ねこは魚を食べています then は is in a really tight spot here as it somewhat desperately tries to connect to some already given context, but since there simply is no close one given at the time it is forced to step back onto generalization in the same sense of like you would talk about commonly known things like "Africa" or "The Moon", eventually ending in the underlying grasp of the new out-of-context topic "Cats" in general. But if you have, physically in front of you, a cat and a dog both eating something and u say first いぬは肉を食べています。 and then ねこは魚を食べています。 then you're contrasting both actions onto those two animals right in front of you and not onto cats and dogs in general, because は hasn't even to go as far as generalization since the given context is (literally) right in front of you; so in such a situation these sentences mean „The dog is eating meat; [while] the cat is eating fish.” On the other hand, if you suddenly start to see a cat eating fish on your way outside while you're walking, you say あー 、ねこが魚を食べていますよ。 „Hey, a cat is eating fish [there].” - and it would look rather stange to say は here since the topic is already given so massively in that moment, that furthermore stressing it would look rather redundant, so が is being used over は here to highlight "*a* cat" in the sense of "that (newly introduced, never before talked about) cat on my way". After that, you can use は and say ねこは嬉しがるね。 „The[/That] cat seems to be happy, right?” So after already existing a cat in the "realm of topic", は again grabs this closest one instead of unreasonably going as far as something like a generalization. It would also look somewhat unnecessary to use が here bc there's only one (already noted) cat in the context-realm, so emphasizing *this* cat over a (non-existing) other one wouldn't make much sense other than intentionally sounding particularly nitpicking.
bro did their homework 👍
Yeah, if you look at it as your end goal. But if you just sit back and enjoy the journey, it’s not gonna be so bad. I just think about growing up and I would say I wasn’t happy if I’m being honest up until middle school with English so that’s over 10 years of trying to learn English in America. But for me, I don’t trust these activists that are translating everything in English. So I want to get the stories that I like from the source.
It's a matter of mindset. You focus on having the skills in a short time to converse with your peers in Japan. I focus on understanding and going through each topic over and over without a time limit. I don't want to rush it because then I will dislike it and the same goes for any language. If the situation is that you don't need it in the future then by all means take all the time you want and dedicate 3-4 hours a week and you'll be fine it's just that progress will be extremely slow but I think you'll have a better grasp at the language compared to what will happen if you devour it in 2-3 years. It's really not a competition here and I agree fully with @GaryOlmstead-wu9qw on this.
As a 2nd year Japanese student, I have come to this same conclusion. It's actually crazy how I can spend two to three hours a day on something and not feel confident enough to speak fluently. I aspire to live in Japan but this language is an incredible time sink. I'm fortunate that I'm at now at a level to interact with different forms of Japanese media that's not a textbook.
4:56 bruh he is so right even with English as my secondary language i still never learned it, I literally picked it up from watching a shitton of youtube playthroughs as a child

I havent thought in my native language in YEARS, I always think in English now. I don't even remember the last time I thought in my native language.

Great advice. However, what was up with all that video editing! I thought I was doomed scrolling TikTok.

Why it sounds so sad. By Learning Japanese you could make friends or maybe even a relationship. You can just relax and chill out a little bit, then study again when you are feeling motivated. It just normal to feel burnout during the learning process.
ya it's kinda just the reason a lot of ppl quit and I think it's best they know what it costs. the rewards totally worth it for me tho
i already think in English, German and Swedish i don't need another one lol
