how is your city so tidy man?
The recent update with roadbuilding guides helps a lot with creating clean street grids and angles. I also use a few other quality of life mods to help with laying out streets
I recommend you keep the current Houston airport, and add the second one in that one spot because it would be cool to have both airports and as the city grows they could serve both sides idk just my thoughts
Adding onto this maybe it could be used for private jets or smaller planes
Interesting idea! It wont be going anywhere for a while but once a large airport gets built eventually it might be interesting to try that out.
Your cities are so big! Do you use a mod for that?
I use the Natural Town Growth mod. That helps cities get much larger than they usually would

Highly recommend looking into the Mods made by 'hugedragonyk'. In particular, they have created Industry Mods that combine specific Industries with a Truck Station, Rail Station and some of them have inbuilt Depots. Even if you decide not to use the Station, or the Industry itself, they can be used really effectively for decorating purposes.
I really enjoy listening to your videos while I build my own city on TF2. I find your voice very calming and extremely easy to listen to as background sound. I also would like to thank you for your content, you've inspired me on my builds more times than I can count now. Subscribed.

I don't like to Monday morning quarterback, but I think taking the construction materials line around Lincoln, between there and the edge of the map would be a better route. Keep the tunnel mouth though, it looks real nice.

When you get later on in the years of your series can you add a new jersey transit comet set? It's my home commuter rr and the comet sets are cool. I don't know if there is a up to date mod for them but would still be cool none the less.
I'll look around and if I find something I'll try to add it in when it becomes available.
For the boat line, keep in mind that the ship you're using only has two compartments. At that rate, it might be more consistent if you separate the lines for each good. I don't think there is a ship with three compartments. For the Houston airport, if the goal is to serve Houston and Salt Lake City, the placement seems a bit weird. I think it'd be nice to build an international airport just above the cargo port of Houston. Within the city.
I agree the placement of the airport is a bit odd, I like your suggestion a lot so when we unlock large airports I'll build one there.
I would have set up a line starting at Portland, that would stop at the farm to pick up grain and then head to the processing plant, drop it off and pick up the food for the return trip to Portland. You then get paid for a full one way trip and a half of the other.
What is that road station you build at 45:50 ? i tried to look it up in your collection but could not find it Tacoma Transfer needs help 😮
That would be Modular streetside lorry station. I recently added it and I just updated the collection so it should show up in there as well.

nice to see that this game is still getting updates. Last time I played it was back in 2021 and then it was too easy, but it seems like it has ballooned into a hardcore transport game since then
The game recently released its final update with a bunch of nice features. It has grown a lot over the past few years. Mods also do a good amount of heavy lifting with the immersion.

I suppose it is starting to look a lot like that. Maybe I can take some more inspiration from NYC as the city grows.

Try opening bulldozer then hold shift and try to delete..that might work as the game has built in sandbox delete when holding shift..i know i delete unwanted industries that way without sandbox enabled
Thanks for this suggestion! I tried this, however it seems that this only bypasses safeguards that the game has so you do not accidentally delete something important. So unfortunately that means it does not bypass buildings errors like we encountered when it comes to deleting. I was able to fix things as you'll see in the next video with the bulldozer ++ mod.
your trucks at the food truck depot with all the traffic; it would be less traffic and more efficient for the truck drop off to be on the right of the road so trucks come in make a right, drop off, then come out a little further up and make a left to come back - but will not be in the way of traffic - no cutting across the lane of traffic that way.
What a bridge length, dont know how realistic that is for the 1870s, sydney harbour had the rail terminate at both sides for a ferry interchange all the way until the 1930s or so when the sydney harbour bridge was built and thats only about 1km or so from the shoreline either side. Loving the series so far and cant wait to get caught up!
I know this is pretty picky, but I can’t stand the yellow lines on the outside on the country road they should be white you don’t have to change them though it’s your world after all. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks! I am not a huge fan of it as well, however there is one that unlocks in a few in game years that has the correct lines on the outside so I will be replacing them as soon as the option is available
Hi! I have a few suggestions to enhance the RP aspect : 1. For the village around the artificial lake: I’d suggest adding a bus line with a round trip between Roswell and the village up top, with a stop at the central shopping area. This would add a more touristy feel to the area. 2. For industries in the next episode: It could be interesting to rethink the layout. In my opinion, production and processing sites should be closer to the cities since they generally employ a large workforce. Extraction sites can be more remote, but it would also be interesting to have small nearby villages for workers. 3. For the airports: I understand why you’re placing them outside the cities to serve multiple areas at once. It will definitely be easier to expand later, but for realism, you could start by placing them close to major cities and then, as the 1960s and 70s approach, introduce discussions about moving them further away or adapting to reduce noise issues. It would add some fun challenges for the future!
Hey! I love these suggestions. There is a bit more development to be done by the lake so bus lines and public transportation are coming. I never though that much about industries though, I'll probably keep the ones that exist where they are since I've put so much time into detailing them but I'll keep that in mind for future industries. I do want to add small villages and low density areas around the map but I want to get a good groundwork laid before switching to those kind of projects. Thanks for the feedback!
Just a thought... if you want to add another town up near the lake as you hinted near the end... simply lay out a road grid with player ownership ON and build a "tiny town" using the sandbox. The AI won't build new roads off those player owned roads, so you will restrict the growth using that mechanism (avoiding the spread of roads into the lake itself LOL)... and have "real" res/comm/ind NPC action.
I do want to add a "downtown" area to the lake and I have considered placing a very small city. However with the way the game handles cities, I'm worried if I confine it too much with locked roads we will end up with towers or have to worry about the city breaking out from the locked roads (I've seen instances where if a city is restricted too much, then it will just create a road in open space). I really want to try to capture the small mountain town feel with this area and I think that is something this game struggles to capture. I also want to try placing tiny cities across the map to act as small towns across the map in the future. I appreciate the ideas!
@@ultimatearchitect My current "Down Under" series is building all towns using the player ownership technique I described. The only problem I have had so far is when I forget to assign ownership to new streets added for expansion... then the AI goes beserk LOL It's worth trying at least mate - the bulldozer is your friend :) Cheers, Stephen.
@@ultimatearchitect You could also try the Advanced Town Builder mod, and set the various levels to 35 - which is half those of the Tiny town. I've started all my new villages at that level... and increased the figures as I want them to grow.
I'll have to check it out! As for the advanced town builder mod, I am worried it might conflict with the natural town growth mod I have. But I haven't done much testing with small town sizes, so I'll look into it. Thank you for the suggestions! Always love hearing ways to open up gameplay more :)
You could combine both comm and industrial magnets at the same place... ie people can both work AND shop there :) Suggest you could also make the water a little deeper at the bottom of the waterfall! Nicely done mate! Cheers, Stephen.

I could, but my issue with cities in this game is that they are a little hard to control and the way the game makes cities is too high density for what I want to do. It is certainly something I have considered. But at this stage, I think placing the individual buildings works for this area of the map.

You should get an American roads mod makes roads look a ton better and gives a better feel
I have that mod installed but I just do not have it activated yet. We just passed 1925 in this video, which is when the vanilla asphalt roads unlock, so I will enable that mod for the next video. I just didn't enable it yet because it makes the road menu really crowded and I liked working with the base dirt and gravel roads in the beginning.

Thanks! This was my first time using these water tiles on such a large scale so I wasn't too sure how this would work out. Hopefully the textures aren't too bothersome as I like the depth we get by seeing through to the bottom of the lake but using the water paint would have made this much quicker and easier lol.
