A'ja has elite post season numbers smh. Her efficiency didnt drop in each 2022, 2023.
the last two years her efficiency in the playoffs has been great. 2023 was actually the first year her volume didn't fall off significantly compared to her RS numbers. 2022 she averaged 20 points/65 in the RS --> 18 pts/65 in the PS 2021: 18.4 pts/65 on 0 rTS --> 14.2 pts/65 on -3.3 rTS her offensive load also takes a noticeable dip in all her playoffs excluding 2023 because Vegas runs more offense through the guards.

Nice analysis. Reese has gotten better with cutters. The reasons you pointed out is why she gets those good plus/minus ratings. They can’t be found in the box score. Also, maybe I missed it, but I would also add how teams are forced to account for her offensive rebounding and so keep 3 players in the lane to rebound. This slows their transition game, also, not in the box score.
In a perfect world the offense would go through Reese but she gets swarmed in the post too much… if she had a player like CC who demanded more attention Reese would average 30pts a game… teams dont even guard Chennedy cuz she doesn’t shoot 3s… they’d rather let Chennedy go off before Reese…
She has an amazing basketball IQ. Even as a rookie you'll always see her directing her team mates on the floor and galvanizing them with her energy.

Another great W content, Josh. Love your articles too! I feel like Sandy improved a lot with her offensive schemes this year. I can't fully remember what they ran last year, but I remember a lot of Pistol, a lot of movement. Definitely Sabrina heavy, a little JoJo Buckets if she gets time. Then postups for Stewie and Betnijah. Those exit screens are new to me (pls correct me if this was already here laast year). So cool! Coach Brondello is in her game. Love to see it.
thanks for the kind words :) It definitely feels like the exit screens are an evolution of last year's offense for NYL. It's a great counter for teams that like to bring the low defender in to prevent the JJ/Sab PNR.
