I really appreciate your WNBA videos. That's why I subscribed. No other analysis channel is talking about things like this, instead more focused on free agency for the NBA. Really wish I could watch WNBA games, but being international there's no easy way, so I love that I get analysis and to see these amazing women in action through your channel.
Another great W content, Josh. Love your articles too! I feel like Sandy improved a lot with her offensive schemes this year. I can't fully remember what they ran last year, but I remember a lot of Pistol, a lot of movement. Definitely Sabrina heavy, a little JoJo Buckets if she gets time. Then postups for Stewie and Betnijah. Those exit screens are new to me (pls correct me if this was already here laast year). So cool! Coach Brondello is in her game. Love to see it.
thanks for the kind words :) It definitely feels like the exit screens are an evolution of last year's offense for NYL. It's a great counter for teams that like to bring the low defender in to prevent the JJ/Sab PNR.
I feel like this is the kind of flexible ball movement the Fever need to work on to be successful. Right now the Fever have two options. 1) CC handles the ball and uses her gravity or a simple pick and roll to create an advantage for Boston, Smith, or Mitchell that she feeds to. 2) Someone makes an inefficient iso play. They’re getting better as the season goes on but they're still somewhat limited. Once that initial motion doesn't pan out, they're often left struggling to figure out what to do next which is leading to turnovers, including shot clock violations. Meanwhile the Liberty offense always has another screen action or cutting motion to run through until the right shot clicks into place.
For sure saw that tonight when the Mercury adjusted their defense later in the game. The Fever's offense totally stalled and it didn't seem like they had anything else to run.
@@mojojojoplus2 Yep! I saw the same thing. Once the Mercury went to a zone defense it stopped the Fever offense dead in their tracks. Suddenly everyone, including CC was trying to force through passes that weren't working and it just led to turnover after turnover.
How far will the New York Liberty go in the playoffs? 👀
