Pretty good analysis of the 6 “potential” NBA players from Illinois. Disagree on one big point, and one smaller point. I think the 6 you picked were correct. Smaller point: the guess was for “potential” NBA players .. not for players that “will” make it. So, I agree 100% on those 6 as players that have a shot. The bigger point: I (with great confidence) put Morez Johnson ahead of Booth. In other words … I’ll say 4 of those 6 have a much greater chance at the NBA. Morez may in fact go before Booth. The other two I agree with your assessment of more likely Europe/over seas. Good show.

This Torvik thing has no credibility yet. I didn't write down the numbers but it adds up to something under 70ppg? And the "other guys" who reviewed Torvik said DGL wasn't even listed as a scorer for Illinois. He needs to go back to square one on his analytics skills. But I guess that is what makes talking about CBB fun at this time of year.

Are you wrong? 😂 You are so on point. You and I need a couple beers together sometime. We think way too much alike. Long time ago I said Ben and Morez will rise to be top scorers on team. However, think about this. Anyone can be a top scorer. It will depend mostly on minutes played. The top scorer on a given night will be possibly the hottest hand that night; or the least guarded man; Underwood and his brilliant coaches will find the defensive soft spots and often let “that guy” get the ball, so to speak. I’m still laughing at 5 points per game for Ben!! 😂😁 Who are “they”? “They” don’t know Illinois, or some of these players. No, Sunny .. you are very correct in talking Ben for double figures probably nightly (or double figure assists); Morez for double; Jakucionis for double; NO WAY Boswell and Roger’s will lead this team offensively. I’ll go on record saying if they are - we will be in BAD SHAPE!! I want Rogers to rebound and score maybe 8; Boswell to focus on ball management and assists, maybe again 8 points. Sunny 😂stop acting like Morez Johnson Jr can’t score I following him throughout high school and EYBL and he avg 14-20 points with dunks, layups, midrange jumpers, and three points shots. Most players that’s guarded him got in fouls trouble because how smart he plays the game if you actually watched most of his games.

The two centers (Big T and Morez) Coach Underwood brought in are WAY better than Hansberry. The center position was GREATLY upgraded this year. Waddle is way-off of this one.

I get that it's the off season and you need content, but pump the brakes. While the arrow is certainly pointing up, maybe wait to discuss a life time contract until after he consistently makes the second round and/or wins a championship(s).

Ayo has to be one of my favorites. He came here when we sucked and turned the Illini program around.

Id give the AD a lifetime contract

A "lifetime" contract is only symbolic and I'm not sure I like such anointments in sports on any level. It would never stop a coach from going somewhere else at anytime, and sometimes programs need to shift. Same as a kid "committing." In practice they can all go wherever they want, whenever they want. Same principle as at-will-employment laws in the slug workplace.

“Lifetime” always scares me. But I wouldn’t trade him for anyone at this time. Love his aggressiveness in recruiting. One of my favorite things he said was during the post game interview after the UConn game when he said we aren’t going anywhere. We are reloading. Love that attitude.

His current contract goes through 2030. He is 60. In 2030 he will be 66 years old. Most don't coach past 75. One can argue he basically has a lifetime contract.

Sunny, as an Illini fan, I understand where your coming from and if not Brad, then who? We’ve already had Bill Self and he bolted for his dream job. I think Brad (at 60) is the best coach we’ve had and he’s now showing flexibility in making changes. I’m still not sold on his in-game ability to adjust. Too many times in the last 2-4 seasons, I’ve watched him pout on the sidelines with his arms crossed while his much better talented team got schooled in games (Loyola being highlight). It would be hard for me to give a lifetime contract to someone that hasn’t even scratched the Final Four yet. Start making deep runs yearly and crack the Final 4 or win a Natty and then you can cement his future. On the flip side, I see your point to lock him up before he has success and then is escorted out of town. ILL!

You are never my 1st listen of the day

All valid points Sunny. Experience is priceless to help young players when things go awry in B1G battles. Those dudes are battle tested and can help navigate those times when adversity comes calling. White, Ben H, Ty and DGL will help. Do not Sleep on our overseas adds as they have played against professionals and in big games. Boswell will be key but if he were to struggle, we have pieces to move KJ over, slide Riley to the 2,3,or 4. Lots of options depending on matchups and the Illini staff need to stay the aggressors. I watched Weber and Gross all too often always react to other teams instead of forcing our own strengths and force the agenda. UConn forced their play onto us last year and I truly feel that 30 point debacle lit the fire in BU’s mind on what he needs to compete at a championship level. Not saying it happens this year, but he’s laying the groundwork for it. Let’s Go! ILL!
