    If a player can shoot and defend at a high level, he makes the team more potent, and naturally will get more minutes.

    It's a new era with NIL and transfer portal. Brad is doing it right. Coach to win big not small. Love Ty but it is what it is

    Here is my take on it. I love Ty Rodger’s but with all the talent this team has it wasn’t fair to Rodger’s. I wish him the best but underwood wants to win a national title and Rodger’s just would not help in any way to make that happen

    Two things are clear: Ty was to be given a diminished role and for some strange reason and Tre White overtook Ty in the pecking order. On IllinoisLoyalty, one of the posters compared the offensive and defensive efficency rankings between Ty and Tre and Ty has been the more efficient player on both sides of the basketball as compared to Tre over their first two seasons. You also mentioned that Ty is one of the captains of the team. Brad has mentioned before that Ty is one of the keepers of the program as one of the few returning guys. Practice to me doesn't mean as much as a 2 year sample size where one player impacts winning and the other player played on two losing teams and accumulated some better scoring stats but is an overall, less efficient player than Ty. How does one of your leaders and captains feel he needs to be forced into a redshirt b/c he's only going to get 10-15 minutes per game? How does Tre White, who hasn't been anything special at Ole Miss and vs EIU and just got here suddenly overtake Ty, who has built the sweat/equity in an Illini uniform? I have generally nothing bad to say about Underwood but this is one of those few instances where Ty got a raw deal and he was put in a tough spot to make this decision for himself. No one can ever convince me that Ty Rodgers is worse than Tre White. It's not possible as of November 7th, 2024. Maybe Tre becomes a great player by year's end but as of now, nope... Morez Johnson is not a shooter but he will get plenty of run because of the intangibles he brings to the table. Well, Ty Rodgers brings those same types of intangibles to the table. I don't see it from Tre White yet. That's not to bash the kid but my loyalty will be with our guy who has been here for 2 yrs and has proven his worth

    Every single player does not have to be a shooter, we have shooters. He plays great defense, he rebounds, he can take the ball to the hole. This is what I hate about the new college game, buy new players every year, no loyalty. I like having a bunch of alleged shooters as much as everyone else. I don’t like discarding someone that gave his heart and soul for us!

      He wasn't discarded, he just wasn't going to get the minutes he wanted.

      @ He WAS discarded, he was over recruited, once we lured in someone better we didn’t need him. I get it, we want to win, best players play, just don’t like how it feels!

    I feel he will probably transfer. He is not at the level the new guys bring.

      A transfer just looks like it’s the best for both sides at this point.

    With Riley and KJ probably being 1 and done, maybe he is just gonna sit this season out and return next year.

    From what I saw yesterday, Ty is much more athletic and explosive than Tre White.

    • @larrybuss677
      @larrybuss677 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He has an experience advantage presently. I think that helps him but. Overall talent I feel is with the new guys. Either way I hope he makes the right decision for him He is a hustler and deserves a chance to showcase it.

    • @LockedOnIllini
      @LockedOnIllini  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I wouldn’t argue explosive but does that make up for the offensive advantage that Tre has? I don’t think so. Granted we haven’t seen Tre perform offensively in the Orange and Blue yet so that’s still pending.

    Daddy Brad has no loyalty to anyone ...... good move by Rodgers to hit the road (like all the others have) and find a place that won't sh*t on him like the Illini have

    I disagree with you, I would like to see players develop over their 4 or 5 years rather than bringing in ringers from the portal. I have team loyalty, not an unfulfilled championship fetish. I'd rather see a team of fighters make it to the Sweet 16 than a team of one year NIL players make the final 4. Why would a super talented freshman stick around if not given a chance to play and develop? That's why these guys transfer, no coach loyalty. At least we had Terrence Shannon for a couple of years to get behind.
