First of all, thank you for showing us your garden in its less than perfect condition. I watch TH-cam videos from a number of gardeners and homesteaders across the country, and it is comforting to see a garden that looks more like mine. When you get as much sporadic rain as we do, it is very hard to stay ahead of pests and diseases. Having said that, I do have a possible help for your critter-eaten tomatoes. I learned this from Brian Lowell of Next Level Gardening; you can make a sling out of tulle. This is probably not feasible for all of your tomatoes, but when you see a big one developing, make a sling out of tulle fabric and tie it to the support. Squirrels do not like the feel of it on their toes. I hope this helps.

I narrowed down my tomato varieties this year a lot. Only 10 when it’s usually 30… and as crazy as it seems, next year there will only be 3. I need to can about 200 quarts of tomato products a year and I don’t like the look of non red tomatoes in the jars. This year I’m growing Cipollas pride and the flavor has just been exceptional. So next year I will grow Granny Cantrell, Cipollas Pride, and super sweet 100. But I still love watching all the fun varieties that people grow.

Alternately stir dry ingredients and the milk into zucchini mixture, including the nuts as a last addition. Pour into a greased & floured 10 inch tube pan or Bundt pan. Hi! I have watched videos that tell you that you can freeze your Kafir grains… And you can! I tried it and they come back absolutely beautifully. I wanted to take a long break and was working on other ferments. You have to be very nice to them to get them re-acclimated. They came back beautiful until I decimated them using coconut water, but that’s another story! When you take them out of the freezer, I put them in a small dish and place them in the refrigerator. Allow them to defrost slowly overtime. I did soak them in plain water to release some of the elements as they were pretty dark. I used molasses but it worked beautifully and I was able to pick right back up again Blueberry & vanilla AND “Florida Sun Kefir” ships live grains. I ordered mine from them and they were plump and very large.

I have Greenstalk planters, but I have yet to try peppers in one. Have you had to stake up any of your pepper plants? I had an unexpected success this year with cherry tomatoes in two bottom pockets, but they did get very bushy and required wooden stakes plus those exterior supports which Greenstalk sells.

I have staked some of the peppers growing in other pots, but I have not staked any of the plants in my greenstalk. There are a few that probably should be staked, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I did try to grow smaller varieties in the greenstalk, so that helps somewhat. Next year I’ll try to stake some earlier in the season though!

Just subbed to your channel. Your set-up is similar to mine. I have a large 9x13 foot raised garden and a patio/driveway with pots. I grow potatoes, peppers, squash beans, cucumbers in pots. This year I'm trying to grow Tiggr melons in pots. I use plastic storage bins along with regular large pots. Also grow strawberries and various lettuces in my Greenstalk towers. My ginger was planted (organic chunks from the grocery store) in a shallow, wide plastic pot in May. It takes 2 months and just now sprouted. You need patience with ginger. I want to grow more beans. Just planted my Fall plants (brassicas, cucumbers and short maturity tomatoes). Thanks for sharing your garden info.

I’ve never grown butterfly peas, but they are beautiful, and I hear they make great tea! I hope they do well for you!

Such a helpful video! I’m inspired to plant some fall greens today even though we’re staring at a week of 104-108°! When you succession plant, do you use new bed space or do you plant where there are established plants? For instance, where do you re-seed for lettuce? On the same lettuce bed or an empty bed?

I do a little of both - when I harvest a lot of something, like my garlic bed, I’ll replant, but I also just stick new plants here and there as I pull out old ones. I hope your greens do well! It’s been hot here, but it sounds like it’s even hotter where you are!

I’m amazed! Your processor looks exactly like mine. Duct tape in the same place. Make it last another couple of seasons! Thanks for the great video.

Can I dehydrate in the oven?

I think that would probably work! I’ve never done it myself though, so I would do a search for time and temp recommendations. If you try it, I’d love to hear how it works!
