Thanks for your curiosity. Usually u can use only depth point to help generate perspective instead of using plan. Closer Depth Point makes front objects so large and distort (out of vision cone). DP so far out makes perspective narrow or flat (SP far away). I explained about DP to help determine the proper size of the room. I use plan to help people see and understand better. For 1 point perspective,t he Standing point need to stay perpendicular to the back of room so I should line up with Vanishing P. Otherwise it will be 2 point perspective. In video I want to find the corner of kitchen's Island because it helps finding the size of room by using back of room as a Picture Plane (PP) it makes drawing perspective easier and cleaner. SP to PP found the corner of Island close to 4 to help find the size of room. If SP closer to Island it may fall to 5,6,7,8. PP can be anywhere but u have to project those lines back to proper scale creating more confusion that is why it always better useing the back of room as PP. I hope this helps you understand better. By drawing the line from the SP, interesecting the nearest vertex of the island and back to the PP you created a diagonal line and a mark on the measuring line (which is where everything is "at scale", because the measuring line is part of the PP). Let's call this mark the "diagonal mark". Then, you mark the position of the start and the end of the island on the measuring line. Those lines are parallel, hence in the perspective they converge towards the VP, marking the sides of the island. Now, in the perspective, you draw a vertical line from the "diagonal mark" discovered earlier: the point where this line and the side line intersect gives you the size of the floor, hence the size of the entire room, projected in perspective! I think this works because the diagonal mark is at a certain angle from the SP in the plan view. The vertical line passes through the horizon line too: any line that, at the horizon, converges to a point at a certain angle with respect to the SP has the same angle as the original diagonal in the plan. Hence, in the perspective projection, that line that appears vertical actually has a specific angle with respect of the side of the island, which is exactly the angle that has in the plan view, since the original diagonal line intersects the SP. I need to study this better and compare to another method I know, which involves measuring distances using measuring points located at 45° degrees from the SP, but I think I got the gist of it. This method seems much more immediate to use then locating the measuring points. Well I guess you still are finding two helping points: the diagonal mark and the depth point. Oh thank you for your kind words. The clear plastic helps me to see through while drawing and helps protect smudging. I cut it off from the flat backside of packaging that u bought from store . Large enough to use, sturdy and not too thick. You can use anything that you think it would work. Have fun on ur experiment!

Standing point projects to picture plan is actual view you will get in real life. Yes u can draw perspective from guesstimate way too but this purpose is to explain how to find the correct answer for beginners who want to understand perspective drawing. Thanks.

Yes, Yarka paint on most of my earlier paintings. But this Fubuki were painted with Prang 16 because it needed more vivid colors for manga characters. All are done on Canson XL watercolor Cold press. Thanks and Happy new year!

@@gibpal one last question please.... I need watercolors to stay moist on paper to manipulate and create soft gradations.. so do they do well in that aspect? I’m asking because the watercolor pan sets that I have dry rather quickly.

For your mixed tray, u can spray fresh water to keep it moist. Or u can mix in small narrow cup/tray with more water if u plan to use a lot. Flat tray mixer will dry quickly. Wait till completely dried before adding more colors. 1. First Using big brush with more fresh water and fast laying over area u want (don't over brushed because it will lift underneath paint off). 2.Now u can add more colors to blend into. Tryout first in small area to understand how to control.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about TK techniques with me. I was looking for large pencil to help fill in large areas quickly so I tried some carpenter pencils. It gave me more smoother tone for large areas with biggest strokes i can find. Brands of Carpenter pencils may have different grades of softness or darkness too. Please let me know what you think after you try it!

I found if I dab a paint and use dry fan brushe. Make sure it dry so it will give you finer brushe strokes.

Thanks, I had several pencil videos posted in my channel. Some are more complicated with more shades and shadows. I learned architecture delineation back when I was at college in Bangkok- Thailand, and Ted Kautzky is a great examples how to generate quickly drawing with large flat tip or board stroke to cover large area. I use carpenter pencil with smooth tones. I really like how Ted use depth and distance to describe surface. Foreground in dark shadow, it became tradition for most architectural renderings. Any book of Ted are great to learned from but I want u to also think why he did that and it looks beautifully finished in shorter time than traditional pencil drawings. I only have one of his book "Way with watercolor" it has b&w watercolor to compare volumes with pencil.

Where did you find Ted Kautzky Pencil Book & Ernest Watson course in pencil drawing??? I'm looking for it but I cannot find :(

If you do not complete your paintings in one setting, do you rewet the back or do you finish it on dry paper?

@@carolyncleveland6798 only dampen or wet the back if u are going to re paint with a lot of water in large area. If not then it can be dry paint. Depending on the thickness of paper. Thinner paper will wrap more than thicker paper. Wet the back is to help expand the paper evenly half way so when u paint with more water then paper won't over expand against dry paper area. During working process u can flatten with weight on top for an hour before adding more work to it. Please try it and let me know if it works for u.
