On car wheel bearing replacement using maddox slide hammer and wheel bearing tool from @harborfreight . The maddox wheel bearing tool would work way better if they include a bearing instead of just using the washer. The bearing that I used is from different wheel bearing tool set from amazon.

@5:50 looked like the extension came down when you untied the bottom bolt: is that why it sprung out? At first glance the extension looked up and then down again. I’m assuming it was hard to work with two hands and cámara 🎥? I’m have the same issues with my 2012 odyssey was loud and I jacked up mellow down. I did feel small rattle by feel with signs of oil and grime around the edges of the tensioner. I will do exactly what you suggested. Hope 🤞🏽 I can lineup the bolts. I did share your video 👍🏽
Do you know if the saturn vue 2004 V6 honda motor 3.5 has the same tensioner? My saturn vue has the same noise.
What a great video! Saved me a lot of time. Thank you!😊
Excellent
You have done a few of these. When the tensioner goes out, does it ever smell like burnt plastic or rubber?
@@robbutler19777 no it does not.
Thank you! I have been dealing with my CR-V visor issue for far too long. Thanks to your video, I'll be able to replace it without having to pay the dealer $200+.
it looks like a common problem for Honda. I have a 2017 65K miles RDX making lots of noise on start up. I can feel the tensioner bouncing inside the cylinder. I assume the replacement is the same way? do you have any tips I should be pay close attention to? thanks
@@tl6708 yup. all 6 cylinder. except those 2002. my tips, pay close attention to the video
@@abcdeinformation3048 My AISIN tensioner is coming tomorrow. I'll replace it on Saturday. Thank you so much.
Sir, I can see a possible problem. If the engine is on TDC number 1 cylinder and you rotate the crank clockwise a little two far it might cause the rear cam to slip over top due to valve spring pressure causing the rear cam gear to jump out of time realative to the front cam and crank. Last time I was doing a timing belt without the tensonier being install I turned the crank clock wise and the the front cam only moved about two teeth, but the rear cam jumped clock wise about 4 teeth and lost proper timing. Of course I just put a wrench on the rear cam gear and moved it back to it proper mark and reinstall the belt. I think that home mechanics might miss this possible cam movement and assume the cam timing was correct and start up the engine which brings about sad things as you know.
@@bpetnoi1472 you are absolutely correct. it will jump timing. But i believe you have your timing cover also removed. that timing cover will hold your belt in place. Turning the crank by hand and camshaft sprung/jump, if your timing belt cover is stilll installed, not missing a bolt, it will not jump timing. try it your self. because i tried it my self. Its always a good practice to check your timing after you did this job. after all, you can check the timing without anything removed other than popping off the access cover to check cam shaft timing mark.
Can i clean the engine oil disptick and use it during thr transmission during thr fluid change??
@@billwTCan what are you going to use the engine oil dipstick for during the fluid change? to check for fluid level?
@abcdeinformation3048 yes check transmission level
@@billwTCan i have never thought of that before. for the reason that most of the time they dont fit and i dont know the length of that oil dipstick is the perfect length to tell the correct level of transmission fluid. so my answer is no. i wont try it either because im not sure if that transmission dipstick tube go straight to the pan.

Excellent video. Just did mine for my newly acquired 2006 Acura Mdx. It was intermittently making this rattling on cold starts, and would go away after 1 minute. When I pulled out the tensioner, there was oil leaking around the shaft, as shown in this video. I did not have to turn the crank in my case, or have to push upwards a whole lot to get the bolts back in, was able to line them up pretty well. She started nice and quiet! 11/10 for video. Thank you

Worked on my 2017 Accord touring! Like others said, on newer models the oil sensor needs to be removed but that’s easy enough. My tip for anyone else is to be sure to follow instructions exactly, and use a large socket like he does to push the new tensioner up to the top bolt hole The owner before me had the timing belt changed around 25k miles ago but either the new tensioner failed early on, or wasn’t replaced at the time of service. I don't have a 27mm deep well socket, but do have a 1" standard depth one that fits over the tesioner. Anybody sucessfuly done this without a deepwell? Have new tesioner and some time........ :-)
@@ronaldanderson9263 would deffinitely work. 1" diameter pipe would also work
If you buy a 27mm deep well socket you can also use it to remove and replace the sacrificial anode on a Rheem water heater. I bought on Amazon a Tekton 6pt 27mm deepwell socket for that job. You need the deep well because the anode head is down inside the cover and insulation.
@@freespirit1975 a 27mm socket is a tool anyway. hahaha. i also use it as a chuck in between subframe and chassy.
@@abcdeinformation3048 I got a little confused about the socket. I ALREADY HAD a thick-walled 27 mm IMPACT socket but it wouldn't fit into the hole in the outer casing of the water heater due to being to wide diameter. So I HAD to buy a standard thinner non-impact regular length 27 mm socket, which WOULD fit. It was NOT a deep well, just use a short extension.. So if you say a regular length socket will work on this genious method with the tensioner, this guy should be good with the short one, AND can also use it on his water heater. Sorry for the mixup.
By the way, I'd like your opinion please. I have a 2000 Odyssey with a TB that only has 30K miles but it's now 9 years old and I really need to change it due to age. However, in 2015 during the last TB service, they didn't recommend it, but I made the dealer put on a new water pump (maybe Yamada but I don't know, but they used Honda parts). We know they generally will leave the water pump on for every other TB job, so that means they should and do usuallly last for 210K miles and 14 years. So, this one should be good for another TB cycle. I was planning on leaving the WP alone if not leaking, and also the tensioner and pulleys if no grease leaks and sounded ok. In 2015 they checked and said tensioner and pulleys all looked, felt, and sounded okay. BUT NOW, I can't find a Honda OE timing belt anywhere at all on the online Honda dealer websites I use, they are all on backorder for an infinite unknown time and discontinued I'm afraid for that old vehicle (it fits up to 2004 models). People recommend the aftermarket Aisin kit which contains the Koyo (what Honda sells) or NTN, or NSK (NSK made my Honda wheel bearings so I trust them) pulleys but I don't know the brand of tensioner in the kit, and Aisin says it usually it contains a Mitsuboshi timing belt. My tensioner and pulleys are factory I'm sure, but are 24 years old and 230K miles on them. If it were you, would you buy just a Mitsuboshi belt somewhere and install it and leave every thing else alone if they were okay, or would you buy the Aisin kit and install the belt, pulleys, and tensioner and leave the water pump alone because it is probably a Yamada and the kit contains an Aisin water pump (maybe not as good?), OR, would you buy the Aisin kit and just use everything in it including the water pump while you were in there?
Will this work on a 2003 accord v6? Mine has a scraping sound when you drive off between 1st and second gear. That goes away the more you drive it. I went out and accelerate hard the other day and now the sounds gone. Just doesn't make sense, but some say this is the problem. Any commen would be appreciated, thank you
