Morning Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips has a look at the weather ahead. Fresh powder in the northern to western mountain communities with lingering low-level moisture in some of the counterpart valleys has led to very patchy freezing fog but with the northwesterly winds still a bit persistent for many, wind chills are below freezing for all areas with a few feeling like in the teens below zero degrees. From the northern-mountain community areas from the Four Corners through the San Juan Mountains to the Enchanted Circle, temperatures are mostly starting off on either side of zero degrees, as low as in the teens below zero for a few, or as high as in the upper teens to the low 20s, while elsewhere is ranging mostly from the teens to the mid 30s from west-northwest to east-southeast. Cloud-free skies will develop for most of the day with calming winds for the most part as a high pressure from the west quickly moves in, stabilizing the atmosphere from top to bottom. From the morning school commute throughout the afternoon, temperatures, from high to low elevation, will reach into the upper 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s from the northwest to southeastern areas, which a few to in the Permian Basin of New Mexico may be just shy of 70 degrees. The bigger warm-up with mostly drier air will then arrive in even fuller force later this weekend into next week especially with record high temperatures possible for many eventually. Unsettled weather will mostly remain north of the viewing area, but the difference between the wintry weather in the Colorado Rocky Mountains to another stronger high pressure to the southwest will slowly ignite slightly gustier downsloping westerly winds.
