You should break out the fine scissors and trim the decals so no clear carrier film shows. That is the old old school way. The bumper numbers are painted stencils over a solid desert tan painted background, it's not a bumper sticker, so keep that in mind you kit builders.....
8:50 Try a fresh X-Acto #17 chisel blade. If done with finesse, it will leave very little to clean up.
Get some needle files in different shapes. They can work faster than sanding sticks and the various cross-sectional shapes (round, square, triangle, flat) will allow you to cut a wide variety of shapes into plastic as well as dressing seams, creating right angles, removing sprue points and even redefining panel lines.
Have never had a problem with Tamiya Extra Thin filling gaps; it is too watery and too fast drying. It is impeccable and if you ever wanted to build a 100+ part model kit in a day (minus painting and detailing), Extra Thin will allow you to do that and without getting sticky fingers to boot.
The only problem is that since Tamiya extra thin does melt plastic it can squeeze out from a seam and fill it. Some seams shouldn’t be filled.
Good morning my friend, thst cockpit looks absolutely fantastic, looking forward to the next update, it certainly is a beast of a helicopter, best regards from Australia, Les
Thank you as always Les!
Wow , looks great. I wonder how this kit compares to trumpeter?
@@danwilliams1686 thank you Dan, I’m not sure how the kit compares to the Trumpeter, but the Zvezda is “infamous” for its lack of exterior rivets. I’ll deal with that in a later video. :)
Great video. You use the same background music as the Bear.
Thanks!
looks good
@@connorthenativeman6126 thank you Connor!

Great video using oil paint for effect. Just wondering besides using q-tips to remove the wash the brush you used, was it a soft or semi stiff to remove/move the wash. Great video!
Thanks for watching! I would say the brush does have some stiffness to it. Not enough to scratch but enough the lift and move material around. I would definitely experiment with different types.
So, I'm a bit of a noob still. Curious about removing the oil wash. Is the Q-tip dipped in thinner at any point or is it always dry? Thanks. And learned a lot.
No thinner on the Q-tips. The turpenoid that is with the oils is “reactivated” by the movement of the Q-tip. Oil paints can actually take up to a few days to actually dry. However, if the paint needs a little help to be lifted, you can add a bit of turpenoid to the brush or Q-tip.
These are great educational steps to doing oil paints the right way. I really appreciate your wisdom, Hobby-Wan!
Thanks bud!!
Thank you for your wonderful work.😍😍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
right on looking good awesome caanopy trick keep them coming
That all looks absolutely superb, it looks as if it has been flying a few missions, best regards from Australia, Les
Thank you Les!
Hello. I just recently discovered your channel and I am enjoying it. I have one question. I am very new to modeling, and the only thing I have to paint the models with is the vallejo paint. I noticed that you added water to yours, and since I have been struggling with them drying out very fast on my pallet and creating a film over the paint, I am wondering, is that what the water is for?
Hi there, thanks for following the channel. The water on the wet pallet is used to help thin the paint. If I brush the paint on and it’s too thick, streaks will be noticeable. The pallet that I’m using a wet pallet so the sponge underneath the paper is soaked in water. This allows any paint to stay wet for several hours often overnight. The wet palette also has a lid that can be placed over it.
@@hobby-wankenobi Ok, thanks! Also such a fast reply! I will have to see if my model store has one 🤔

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll consider building one!
Im liking this kit better than the Kinetic version. Could you have cut a sheet of plastic for the instrument panel instead of shaving off all that hard work? I do like the 3D decals. Great work 👍
It definitely surpasses the Kinetic. A sheet of plastic would have only brought the panel too far forward. I do recommend those 3D decals. Thanks for watching.
Отличная работа!!!!
Thank you!
👍👍👍👍
Great job. Looks awesome. Just found your channel, subbed.
Thanks for the kind words and thank you for subbing!
🏆🥇 perfekt!!!
Thank you!
Very nice job! Where did you get this model? I've been looking for one for a long time. The M54, M35, M151, M561, M61/62. These vehicles seem to be overlooked. I worked on these many years ago and would love to build them.
AFV Club is the manufacturer. This kit can be purchased online at sprue brothers models and squadron.
@@hobby-wankenobi Thanks, I'll check them out. I've bought many thing from them. It's a great company!
Wow!! Nice work. It reminds of when I was stationed in Germany in the '80's. Nice attention to detail, especially the chalked on convoy marks on the door!! Well done!!😁
Thank you so much! I’m glad you approve. And thank you for your service.
Wow!!!! Such patience. Super job.
Thank you!
That was a excellent build and your paint finish was top notch, one of the americans more stranger colour schemes, congratulations on a job very well done, bedt regards from Australia, Les
Thank you Les! Appreciate the kind words as always.
❤ you're so smart Jason
Good job nice work keep them coming buddy 👍
Thanks for the info on the color of the wing walk areas , I've been doing it wrong . I can't find this hasegawa kit, but I've got the kinetic one in the attic, and now you have inspired me to build it!
Right on!
Great video! Nice that we can watch you airbrush now! Can you please explain why you were trying to achieve the mottled effect with the squiggles?
