This location is approximately one mile (RR North) of Central Bridge, NY, on the former D&H, This is where the tracks ascend out of the Schoharie Valley. I visited this location two consecutive Sundays. The first Sunday, July 24, was dead. After the first early morning Southbound, I waited into the afternoon with no results. It was a great time to work on a suntan during those long boring hours...

hey Don i heard you talking to 171 that was engineer tyler martin that you were talking to
If that was tonight you are referring to, I wasn't actually talking to 171, but was asked if I knew where 171 was by a crewmember.
@@1990sRailfan ah ok i got a shave and a haircut in point of rocks today from amtrak
Ten years before the agency got their first alp-type locomotives in 2000. Those U34CHs were revving loud even though they were nearly into Hoboken. They needed a lot of power to be able to push the trains into the terminal it looked like. They were pushing those trains hard, OMG. 😮 I’m happy that 4172 (originally 3372) and still retains the original road number, got restored back to it’s original paint scheme from when it was delivered in the late 1960s and that it’s surviving today. ALP-44M #4424 is also at the URHS of NJ in Boonton, NJ and preserved.
Do you have any videos at GCT in the 1990’s walking on the platform between trains? That was a childhood memory of mine before they replaced them with the less noisy engines.
When did they build the third track on the Hudson line?
hey Don i was at alexandria yesterday i might two engineers both gave e gifts for the first time one threw me a penn central sticker from 171 her name was kelly and then i met john or is it jon on 305? he gave me a shave and a haircut im putting my video of you up for tomorrow night
A Penn Central sticker!!! That's great!
2:45 that echo tho⭐
Now it’s three tracks and one tunnel. This has changed so much.
Hey Don i made a new friend that takes train 67 and 174 and the nick nqme for him is grandpa engineer he said merry christmas to me the day before christmas and then i caught him on 174 gave me a hornshow and pointed at me on christmas eve i meant to ask a engineer on amtrak what his name was
Cool man! Unfortunately, I don’t know the Amtrak guys.
I remember the Turbos smelled of jet fuel and were very fast.
It is possible that I was standing across the river and taking pictures of that same train from Cold Spring!
That's great!...let's see the shots!
Former Erie Lackawanna 🎉🎉
Hey Don who takes 310 ussally?
Don do you know some engineers with ns?
@@railfanjk8964 No.
hey Don i get to ride my first marc penn line train this saturday from union station and its the first northbound out of dc for the morning i dont know anyone that is on the marc penn line though but i do know one engineer on the arc brunswick line his name is rick he takes P873 and i might be able to ride in the cabcar on the way back ill see if i can video the engineer at the controls i think it depends what train set im on though ill see if one of the engineers will be nice enough to blow the same way that you do lol
That is great! Have fun man!
hey Don im planning on going to philly this summer to see amtrak and my plan is to see regionals that dont go thru alexandria i cant wait about that i know some engineers that are dc to nyc and are very horn happy
I think they may actually still be using these B23's for their MOW and other activities. I saw a really beat up one that looked suspiciously similar to this on the New Haven line in New Rochelle about 6 months back.
EARRAPE WARNING!
Yeah, sorry about that. The audio is way too hot on the conversion.
Hey Don my last train of the night was M421 with engineer perkins
You must have seen a lot having been there all those hours. You are truly dedicated!
yep i am 🙂
I will be railfaning the nec next saturday im excited lol and then im heading to harrisburg pa before christmas funny how it is i dont know anyone there with amtrak but that may change though
Who takes 310?
Happy Thanksgiving Don! I’m very thankful I met you and became friends with you man! Hope your thanksgiving is going great!
Thank you Omar! Same to you as well!
hey Don i will be at alexandria for my birthday next wedensday is there vests in the locomotives? if so can you see if theres an extra one and throw it out to me?
Yeah, I have an extra vest if I remember to pack it.
Packing it right now.
Hooe you packed it 🙂 see you tomorrow morning and evening
Lol just read your comment my bad haha
4102 is still going strong today. She’s over 50 years old and the oldest NJT engine still on the tracks. Glad to see a video from back when she wasn’t super old. Built by General Motors’ Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) in 1967-1969.
Nice seeing those U34CHs still on NJT property. Sadly, none of them exist today. They were big, heavy, powerful noisy machines on wheels, Lol. 😅 Today, we have GP40s, two F40s and plenty of ALP-46/A and ALP-45 locomotives by Bombardier and Alstom. The remaining single decks are also being phased out for more multilevel cars.
There is one U34CH in existence. 4172 is on display at the United Railroad Historical Society in Boonton, NJ, wearing EL colors and her original road number (3372).
Check this out! www.urhs.org/u34ch
Thanks for the link. Also, I wish these big, heavy, powerful and noisy engines were still running.
Awesome video Engineer Don!
why is it not filmed in 1991 if it is 1991 railfanning? its filmed in 2016
Great seeing you today Don!
Same here Omar!
Question, do you know what horns are equipped on the MP36s?
I’m not a horn guy, but I think they are K5LAB.
Ah I see, I thought it was either a C5A-CWP just like the cab cars or a funky sounding K5LA since it’s hard to tell bc it’s under the locomotive.
@@officialrailfanomar Trust me, I'm sure you know more than I do!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
1992? I believe it...nobody on the backend. No horns over the crossing. No changing ends/brake test. No restricted speed until past the point at a more favorable indication. This was the wild west. And that guy probably runs the show now.
We still have the shoreliners, it goes to show how great they are!
10:23 nice😄
Cool video. No L trains were seen as the Lake St line was shut down for reconstruction.
Crazy race between you and K94 today!
Yeah, we were neck and neck down to the Powell signal. (I replied the other night, not sure what happened to the comment, maybe I didn't hit reply.)
TH-cam’s like that sometimes, it’s such a joy seeing you trackside man!
@@officialrailfanomar Yeah, I didn't work last Thursday. We worked the evening flip job on Wednesday night (327-338-337) because the inbound crew wasn't rested due to 322 breaking down that morning.
@@officialrailfanomar Hey, you were at the Manassas Rail Fest on June 1st right?
@@1990sRailfan yeah I was, that was you running the V50 unit and wearing the Erie hat right?
Isn’t ALP44 the NJ Transit version of the AEM7
Yes, Septa also had one numbered 2308
Sadly this is stuff we will never see on NS ever again in this modern era of railfanning
I agree Omar.
Hi could I use this footage for a video going over the RTLs? 1:02 (actually could i have permission to use your RTL footage, you've got some of the best footage of them out there!)
Thank you. Sure, you could use it. Just give some credit somewhere in there if you could.
Check the "Hudson Line" playlist, tons of Turbo footage in those videos.
@@1990sRailfan thank you very much! I'll be sure to give credit
Whats the yellow paint on the left ends of the gons at about the 25:22 mark?? Never seen that before.
I like that horn 0:41 23:55
Yooo Don what’s up man!
Hey man! Just relaxing. Good to see you today!
Good to see you too! Love that paper wave you do it’s awesome!
This is beautiful. I love seeing the days of what was perhaps either just NJ Transit’s most successful route as it made its rounds along the line, or even just another normal day of a decent place with people possibly going to and from work as per usual along there.
Wow, look at that, an old FL-9 meeting a brand-new P32, perfect meet at perfect time.
Engineer dom
Hey!
@@1990sRailfandom im shouting you out tomorrow i will be seeing some ns on the sunbury line near scranton this weekend
Hey James! Thank you. I'm checking out your channel. Btw, it's Don, lol.
I will get it one day haha
hey Don one of i031s conductors waved to me the other day

And it goes right on the northeast corridor to New York

Seeing this were I live in Elizabeth is cool
