I remember losing to Dark Hill a few times in Explorers of Time, looking back maybe I was underleveled. I love that scene with giving your partner hope again, it’s one of my favorites. Thinking about it, Spiritomb could be easier in a remake now that Fairy type is a thing. And I really like that they explained that Spiritomb and other Pokémon aren’t bad, they’ve just been twisted cause of how the world is.

When you were looking for 250 races I was yelling, "Go to Jorvik Stables and do Mark's race!!" But, I guess you didn't hear me. 😉

This may be before your time, but Bjorn and Agnetha are the names of two of the original members of the Swedish music group, ABBA. They were even married to each other for a few years. I'm guessing the gardeners (or at least their names) are a take-off on them.

Seeing the future paralyzed as Dusknoir described was so crazy. Like what happened?! What’s going on?! Dialga’s the villain?! It was so unbelievable and cool. Also the whole execution thing was really dark to see in Pokémon at the time. This was before Ghetsis just straight up going to have Kyurem kill the player in B2W2 lol.

That “where’s the target Pokémon” thing has always confused me. Like did the Pokémon just decide not to show up? Thanks game lol. And not only does Dusknoir get revealed as a bad guy but we’re going to the future? I think this was my first twist villain lol, I was so shocked.

I think this is when I knew as a kid this game wasn’t losing its grip on me. Hearing Dusknoir and Grovyle were from the future, the way Dusknoir described the planet’s paralysis, it was all so fascinating.

Poor Mario needs his glow up like Ydris and the other NPCs! He's looking pretty rough next to them!

I always loved this dungeon. The music’s great, it has cool Pokémon, it’s got a (extremely simple) puzzle in the middle. It’s got everything. And we get the revelation that Dusknoir and Grovyle know each other, that was a shock the first time. Happy holidays!

This dungeon was always a pain because of Tyranitar. That boss fight was so fast! 😆And we finally get to meet Grovyle! I always liked the look of the underground lake becoming paralyzed. It’s simple but effective as a kid. Freaking Wigglytuff was always hilarious as a kid but especially this scene! 🤣

Wigglytuff getting pumped was always so funny to me as a kid. Since you brought it up, an Appraise All option would be a good QOL change if they remade this game. Northern Desert, even as a Piplup, always felt like a big turn in the difficulty for this game. The sandstorms, the grimy traps, all the Pokémon having hard hitting moves. The quicksand at the end of the dungeon seemed so scary as a kid. Also, freaking Bidoof with his crystal 😆

The way this game so consistently sets tension with the mid-dungeon scenes is so great. Even as a kid seeing Dusknoir panic like that had me worried about what was ahead. Speaking of which, playing as a Piplup in EoT, this boss fight was hell lol. But still having a Piplup as my partner in EoS, it felt a lot easier for some reason. I always wonder why they changed this fight from Luxray and Luxio to Manectric & Electrike. We get a strange reaction from Dusknoir about our name, and now the story really starts to pick up. Excited for the next one!

Great job, Sandra! I really enjoy these playthrough sessions. Thanks for also doing the side quests - they bring back lots of memories of first starting out in Jorvik.

I think it was a was a neat decision to make someone like a Dusknoir this famous explorer, a cool way to show off a pretty new Pokémon at the time. I can’t remember specifically who it was in Gates but I think you are right that there’s a bully in every PMD lol. Also man, I can’t believe I forgot you could get eggs in this game! It doesn’t come up too often, but I’m a bit disappointed in myself for forgetting it lol

The races are still there at the new Equestrian Center, they've just moved them down near the riding hall. You'll see Pauline standing by a little building to the right of the hall with the race signs nearby.

I love the music for Steam Cave, it’s so tense which is great building up to the fight with Groudon at the end. Pair that with Chatot saying fighting it is “like throwing your life away” and it makes for a terrifying fight as a kid. The view of Fogbound Lake is gorgeous and getting to see a Time Gear in person for the first time is so cool! Also yes, the special episodes are so fun and cool! Though they can be tough since it’s not really like you can grind in them easily.

Man what luck getting the Bazaar twice in one dungeon. I feel like it really speaks to Team Skull’s intelligence that they don’t immediately think that Wiggltuff’s “treasure” is likely just a Perfect Apple lol. And man this is one of my favorite parts of the game. Putting the stone in the statue to clear the fog, seeing the massive plateau, learning about Uxie, it’s all just so cool! This is when it really started to become a favorite of mine.

The Guildmaster just picking everyone was so hilarious the first time. I think this is one of my favorite parts of the game, especially the first time around. The expedition felt so grand and professional. Also wow you’ve gotten really lucky with the white gummis.

The white horse is named for a carousel musical instrument. I believe it is pronounced ca-LIE-o-pee.

The scene where the other guild members bring you food is so cute. Especially after Chatot being a jerk lol.

Seeing Spinda do his silly drink dance never got old. Made Gummis way more useful than they already were. And man, Apple Woods always gave me a hard time cause I always liked having either myself or my partner as a Piplup. Those dang Grass types… Also I’ve never played Gates but honestly I think Super might barely beat Sky as my favorite PMD, I think the soundtrack just pushes it over the line for me.

The visions you get were always the coolest thing to me as a kid. I don’t think I’d seen anything like it in media before unless you count The Force from Star Wars.

Found your videos last night! Always fun watching someone play these games. I still remember how mind blown I was as a kid seeing that vision with Drowzee and realizing he was bad.

Uggh I miss this game so much. I used to play this and Forest Territory EVERY day before and after school when i was like 12/13.. A shame they got closed; though Forest is still playable I wish they'd make SkyClan playable again 😔🙏

Apparently, it's the beginning of a whole new Medieval celebration SSO is planning for their birthday. One idea for celebrating your 900 subs might be something I saw another person do. She let her pet cat select a horse for her to buy. You could let Shasta choose a horse for you to buy. The way she did it was she took 4 pieces of paper (regular 8 1/2 x 11) and wrote the name of a horse on each one. These were horses she did not own, like Creamello Akel-Teke, etc. Then she put the four pieces of paper on the floor - kind of spread apart. She placed a cat treat on each of the papers. Then she called her cat into the room and just watched. Whichever paper the cat went to first for the treat, that's the horse she bought. To make it more interesting, she also had a new horse name on the back of each paper. After choosing the horse, she put the cat out of the room and placed the papers on the floor again, name side up, with another treat on each. Whichever paper the cat went to first was the name she had to give to the new horse. It didn't take long and was kind of entertaining - especially since her cat just kind of stood there studying the papers first before going to one of them. Built the suspense! Lol Anyway, that's an idea.
