    Someone should make a mod that allows you to breed hostile mobs. Ex. Feed two creepers then they will make a baby creeper that behaves like a baby zombie: faster and explodes quicker but weaker

    Does the scale change affect mob *spawning*? A lot of mob farms try to limit the size of spawning spaces to prevent certain types from spawning. My guess is no; it changes stats the tick *after* they spawn?

    hey conure can you help me make an enchantment using the spin attack strength? every time i try to do anything with it i cant load in the world because it says there is an error in my datapack. this only happens with the spin attack. Edit- I used the riptide preset in misode and it works, but even changing the slightest thing like the description makes an error appear.

    Custom item models is going to be nuts. If I had to take a guess, it’s probably even possible to make a custom Elytra wing model that animates like them since we have both armour models and gliding equipment combined. It’s so nice to finally get getting some of these features from Optifine resource packs in the main game, and the key detection is AWESOME. Saw a vid recently of people making Breath of the Wild in Minecraft, which included the Master Cycle, but they had to use some weird quirks of detecting the player’s motion values while riding certain entities like Minecarts. Now it’s just straight-up input detection (at least for the limited selection of keys). We can reasonably create things such as a Friday Night Funkin/Guitar Hero minigame, street fighter-style combo attacks and ability activation, double tap directions to dash/dodge, double jumps, using sneak or sprint while standing still to perform functionality like reloading weapons, and more. The best part? With it being in a predicate, it can all be done without ticking commands with an advancement. You no-longer need to constantly check a player sneak score to see if you should execute some commands on them, it just grants an advancement and runs a command when they press it.

    With how many new changes they are making they need to add an actual dummy item that does absolutely nothing so we don't need to modify a music disk or poisonous potato

      Soon enough they hopefully won't need to. They've confirmed that a fully data-driven item system is the eventual end goal, so when that happens, you can just create your own item and that will be your "dummy" that you can define however you want.

    My favorite part about input predicates? They work in spectator mode, even if you're spectating an entity. This is great for datapack based minigames, because you can have the player spectate an entity to control their camera, while using inputs to control the game!

    Why would these changes mean that custom model data is obsolete? Haven't been into the technical side of Minecraft is a few years.

      CustomModelData is just to impractical... You need to remember the numbers, you need 2x the amount of files, it breaks if another pack uses the same number... with item Model u only need 1 file and a texture, u don't need to remember any numbers and it's Namespace bound so it's never going to break with another pack (except a pack is using the same Namespace and the same item model name)

    Imagine if we could use Minecraft maps as texture, either for custom item model, or for the tooltip This means we could dynamically add textures And we could have a server with a ton of cool custom stuff without having the user have to download a texture pack That would be so cool and all i long for, im fine with you not being able to change the map after it has been used, it would just mean we can get Minecraft looking custom items and tooltips WITHOUT TEXTURE PACK You can already make transparent maps too This would mean the textures stored on the server instead of client

    6:38 Hey! I took upon your challenge and managed to make a working Cloud in a Bottle datapack. Being able to detect the moment that the player press or release space makes it really easy to implement dynamic jump height too, in the case of Fart in a Jar. I have sent a vid and the datapack to your Discord. Input detection and proper item models makes this snapshot really good! Hope they keep this up and make it possible to add even custom input detection, if possible

    I hope people start to see the bigger picture here. Of course still a lot of methods are hard coded (as in mojang add them if they need them and expose them via datapacks). But jeb said years ago he wanted to make the game more data driven. We got that with so many thing over the years and items are the final barrier before there is just one thing left to tackle: BLOCKS. It is finally happening. With how customizable items get and how data-defined all aspects of an item become it will only be a matter of time. Disclaimer before anyone misunderstands me. This is just scripting, not programming. You wont be able to define new methods but rather remix the atomic part of any block into a new one (similar how its now becoming pssible with items)

Just looking back how much time it took to get from advancements, to datapacks, to custom world-gen (dimensions, structures, biomes), then predicates, and now items and enchantments. Its been a long road and we and we still have a long way to go. If mojang nails one thing its this whole data driven foundation for customization.

    I love these smaller 1.21.x updates the way they change core mechanics. A lot of people complain that it breaks their maps and resource packs mid cycle, but I disagree. This new update cycle means that whenever a big update comes next e.g 1.22 since it wont change item/game mechanics it means that whatever you make in 1.21.x is ready straight away to be used in 1.22 At least in theory...

    More and better (resource pack) customization options? *Nice!* An added bonus of replacing _Custom Model Data_ with the new _Item Model_ component is not only more structural clarity & an easier overview of your custom item models _BUT ALSO_ compatibility between different resource packs! Before, having two texture packs with Custom Model Data on the same base item model would have had one override the other .;3 I hope they add custom armor models too! (not even OptiFine supports that)

      Nothing unfortunately, unless you used the "model" field under "equippable" to give it a texture. But then, it would always be the same shape as a pair of pants, no matter what texture you gave it.

Would it be possible to make a "Miner's helmet" item, or an enchantment on helmets that makes it possible to fly just for 2 or 3 seconds so the player can enter in 1 block high holes, or even if the new input predicates could help detect that hole and trigger the fly/crawl position of the player ? That could be ind of useful, especially since it'sa feature, it should have a dedicated action to be triggered.

      @@FriedMonkey362 What? No. Motion isn't even an attribute. The best we have I believe is BigPapi13's Delta library, which uses invisible and silent TNT explosions to launch you. There's no way to directly modify a player's Motion value like you can with other entities.
