Wapping Mine & Cumberland Cavern
มุมมอง 2.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A lot of the workings in Cumberland Cavern seem to have broken into natural chambers, which is reinforced by the fact that there a very few shot holes. The mine looks to have been worked once and was opened in 1780 as a show cave. Queen Victoria visited the show cave and it then became known as Royal Cumberland Cavern, though it is not usually referred to as this. After the show cave was closed...

The bricklayers that did this work were not on 400 quid a day like they are today and the quality was better, see the vidoes under Paris you can drive through them
Some beautiful Victorian brickwork
Metal detector for jewellery
I bet the smell will make a non sewer worker vomit instantly.
Shameful how these watercourses have been treated.
What a handsome well fed rat.
Love the elegant Rebar handrail.
Lots of above ground 'couse of videos' but nothing compared to underground 'this is' videos. Nice to see what Water Rate pays.
It's the size of a road tunnel - what engineering and workmanship. Always nice to see Ratty even if Mole and Badger are more elusive like Toad.
Awesome - wildlife even in the sewers. The Victorians knew how to build. Fascinating video - many thanks.
Those metal door/plates - they open when floodwater pushes those or are they controlled by people? @ 13:37 Its a eerie place to see (river tide) and cool you share some insight. 👍
Lots of loud water noise, yet very little water? Amazing. Strange network of tunnels leading into the network from the ladder, unusual how long they are to the main water tunnels. The volume of water that has previously left rags high up is a frightening thought. Would be interesting to see it in full flow if only that was possible (and not being down there at the time). Nice video, and I hope you have a gas monitor with you!
Are you there in any sort of official capacity - or with the purpose of generating TH-cam content for money? Only I, as a Londoner, sure as shit, wouldn't want a penny of my taxes spent on the rescue of wasters in the latter category who got into trouble through reckless, illegal cash generation schemes.
Imagine one those under ground gates opening up
If your flashlight broke or you dropped it down a hole, what would you do?
I will use one of spareones 🙂
Fascinating! Are you doing official inspections? Is it hot or cold down there? Do you wear breathing apparatus? So many questions…
Enjoy to see these underground marvels. - Short part watching a rat taking the ladder up. 05:05
Otherwise known as "Turdtown".
How does the water get so high that there are rags on the hand rails ?
Why are you go inside mad man

This is like a liminal spaces nightmare.
I couldn’t stop watching. This is captivating for someone who has never seen anything like this. Good on you for being certain that there are no hazardous gases !!
That start is original Bazalgette by the looks
I would truly love some commentary! CC if you dont want you voice on the vid. And very happy to see you have an H2S meter.
Dude, this is some crazy stuff, thanks for sharing!
Some 40K stuff here.
Yeah, maybe dont open any of those doors...
i did not have my glasses on and thought your thumbnail was a ninja turtle

Incredibile cosa c'è sotto
Imagine going down there when it’s at full bore, going off the tidal marks on the side walls and the rag that has reached higher levels it must be frightening the volume of water going through their at times. Also imagine how pitch black the place is without a torch 😮
Any chance of mailing an anonymous note to the sewer authority about the collapsing brickwork?
I’m sure they are aware of it, the tags have recent dates on them. I’d be very worried if I was Thames water! We need to split up water supply and waste waste water in this country, some areas already are like that for example Barnet, Thames water deal with waste water whilst affinity supply it. They simply can’t afford it with all the money they have wasted
@Nick_80599 (I'm used to the big issue in old cities being the re-engineering of combined sewers into separate systems for storm water and sanitary disposal).
where are the rats?
Che opera ingegneristica
It’s the back rooms 😮
😂😂😂😂
Wy did they make it that large? That's crazy.
It was built as a storm relief sewer. If it started pouring with rain, it could start filling up pretty quickly and at various points in the video you can see that the water level sometimes gets pretty high from the debris that's caught on the sides.
I often dream of places like those, even though i've never been in any kind of them... Strange

Кладка кирпича поражает , да и сам кирпич целый после стольких лет в сырости
amazing brickwork
Just as the romans and the ancient Egyptians, first class engineering and building skills
What makes it so loud lol
Then from out of the dark came an awesome sound! Shouted "cowabunga!" as they hit the ground😅🎶🎵
I can't help but thinking about my favorite movie as a kid when i see videoes like these. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) And Ghostbusters 2 (The tunnel scene) If i went down there i would have had the Turtles movie on my ear pods😅
beautiful
Great vid, I've been myself an I really don't know how you go on your own.
Holy shit, I wonder how long it's been since any of those giant gears worked?
how is there not a single cockroach down there?
appreciate that it takes some dedication to explore in raw sewage
Fantastic video well cool thanks so much for sharing
