I am a pensioner and 40 years ago I worked as a caving instructor at the Hollowford training centre in Castleton. Giants hole was a frequent visit to take groups down. Thank you for this video, it brings back some memories. I remember a section called 'Crabs walk' where the passage was high but very narrow, and I had to get the group to decide which way their feet should go, as they would not be able to turn them around once committed.
Bellissimo!complimenti.... anch'io in Italia vado nelle grotte, molto spesso sbarcando con kayak dal mare.....questi sono i miei preferiti!...se hai occasione fanne altri....ancora bravo
Forty years ago on a school trip I went touring Giants Hole, we spent 8 hours underground. The large drop you got to is near the start of the cave system, we absailed down there then continued on, it was a fantastic experience I remember it so well. there was a lot more water flowing when I went down as it was the middle of winter. great footage thanks for posting, it brings back so many memories. The pitch is called garlands pot, the exit is called the crab walk because you have to walk sideways. Part way along is an ascent to a small tube into a place called the giants windpipe where you have to lay on your back with your face in the roof as the water laps around you with minimal airspace as you thrutch your way through, the bow wave coming back at you covering your face if you move too quickly, great fun!
Giants Hole is graded 4-5 and is not for the inexperienced. I descended Giants well into my caving career and remember it being a really enjoyable trip.
Amazing! Brave lady...but nope, nope, nope, not my taste for adventure, You can tell lots of water can come gushing through and certainly would not like to be there.
Nice and amazing , I like adventure that visiting or down to the great holes and caves ,, ok yes I am not visited personally but right now I visited it with you from your camera, thanks good done ❤️❤️❤️
The cave system extends much, much further. The drop at the end of the video - garlands pot - is quite close to the entrance. The system becomes severe from this point and can be explored ( by experienced cavers with the correct equipment ) to the canals and a connection to oxlow caverns ( a very constricted crawl ). A rescue from the further reaches would be, to say the least, very difficult!
Depends how far you go. The entrance series is okay with a pair of wellies and a head torch or two. Past the pot (the big hole) you obviously need gear and the knowledge of how to use it. Still a bit of fun to be had for an hour or so in the entrance series but this cave really comes alive after the pot.
@@elaibuchanan6319 OK I'm open minded and have seen ancient structures that appear melted but how would you convince me that all caves are melted buildings

Just stumbled on your channel. Well done, we've subscribed. Looking forward to the next one!
Very cool to be able to hear the sounds. Usually there is annoying background music or a narrator talking

For ignorant people like me, "Giant's Hole" is in the UK. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant%27s_Hole
The cave reminds me entering inside a large intestine
I was thinking birth canal

How far is it from Thor cave in peak district and the name of street and direction?

Fantastic footage of the inside of a Melted building!!!
Tom every cave cannot be be a melted rock building, your taking the theory abit far
Will I need to take proper gear to go explore in here? Or just a couple head torches

Something is very satanic or have some evil omens in this cave from the Earth's crust formation...
I was wondering who made this tunnel? How it works?
It was made by thousands of years of water flow.
Nice 😀

I don’t think a giant could make it in that place.
How is it in there cold or warm ?
chilly
@@valdigger very interesting
Average air temperature 12 degrees Celsius, Water temperature much colder!

Very risky...if water comes you're trap...and dead.
Also it's easy to drop and lose a hand held torch. Then what do you do?
