This is a personal diary of mine. I am storing memories from my travels and expeditions here. Everyone is welcome to join along.
Rusty, Roasty, and the Royal Blossom
It was August 17, 2024, and the former Hamanasu Express trainset, now transformed in Thailand into the Royal Blossom, was making its first-ever passenger journey to Kanchanaburi. I finally found time to explore a site that many regular passengers on the Southern Line glimpse from their windows but few actually visit. Yes, I’m talking about those two steamers parked in the field between Wat Ngiu Rai Station and Saowabha Bridge over the Tha Chin River.
My day started in Nakhon Pathom, where I tried to guess which locomotive would lead the Royal Blossom (secretly hoping it wouldn’t be an Ultraman). Afterward, I took a local train to Wat Ngiu Rai and continued on foot in the fairly brutal heat to check out the steamers.
The plan was to finish at the bridge, hoping to spot the Royal Blossom on its return to Bangkok - but things didn’t quite go as planned.

At 2:20 this is a private freight train owned by a huge cement Company. They run 20 of these crrc locos and also have at least 6 own shuntimg locos
@@iks77 Thanks for this update. I was quite surprised them to see that train that morning. :)

Check it out 🚕🚕🚕🚕🚕🚕🚕

@@brootheboomer 1960' version, but yeah
I see you have a card to get on the train, what is it? How does one pay for a round trip ride for one day without too much problems?
@@GrantMcWilliams If I remember correctly, these trains are still within the Lisbon Metro system and so I just used my Lisbon 24hour pass. I am 90% on this one. Can anyone confirm?
Nowadays, there is a new Lisbon zone pass called "Navegante", it allows you to use Lisbon Metro and the Lisbon suburban trains (Cascais and Sintra lines), once you buy it, you can charge it with credits at various metro and train stations (ex. Rossio, Cais do Sodré, Oriente, etc...). If I remember correctly, the fixed price for the card is 0.50€. PS: The old Lisbon public transport pass used to be called "Viva Viagem", it was pretty much like Navegante except it had different modalities, one was just for the metro and transports within the city, the other one was the same except it included access to the Sintra line commuter trains.
@@walf8099 Thank you. Do you know if they have day passes or if it's by trip?
Wowwwww
Nice one 😎👍🚂
Super video, thank you very much !!
Glad you liked it!
Was skoda 387 run in thailand?
@@rakkortrang not Škoda but a very similar looking, yet a bit smaller mikado made by Kawasaki is still run by the State Railway of Thailand. All about it in my next video. :)
Hello we never travel to Portugal. But we are glad to see the railway going along the Sea... Very beautiful landscape... 🍎🍎🍎 Have a good day

7:34 that was Spanish though lol
Oh no, lol. Was I at least anywhere near with the translation?
@@mibal10 you were spot on! don't worry
Hi from Malaysia! Actually, it is against the to open the gate and stand within an area close to the railway line, railway workers must have forgotten to put the lock on the gate. Plus, speeds within the Kuala Lumpur regions won't be any faster in the coming time due to the mass renovation of the track. I suggest you trainspotting outside the KL region where speeds are much faster.
I closed it back nicely for them. The lock is probably there now. haha
This is a really nice simple video. Great work
Thanks! There is a bunch more on the channel with a similar vibe but from different places. :)
Cascais is more than a stop for tourists it’s considered very bourgeois and many Portuguese live here all year long. It is considered to be borderline high class with Estoril. It’s one of the more desired places for people that live in Lisbon that want to get outside of the city. It’s a high class suburb.
Some of the houses and villas I have seen there on my short visit were truly magnificent and thanks to the train line it's so convenient to get to Lisbon. I believe Sintra is not far by road as well. It's a great spot indeed.
@@mibal10 sintra is beautiful but it’s a mob scene with tourists.
This is lovely thank you.
thanks for watching! :)
Fantastic, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
@@mibal10 Yes, it is compelling to watch. I am interested in that old train you showed. If I was standing on the platform at the old Bang Sue Junction station facing KTW, would I have to to walk to the left or to the right to go to that train? I would love to take some photos in and around it!
@@gregsimmons1709 when facing the KTW, you will need to go to the left. The graveyard train of old Henschel locos is then about 200 meters away from the station. You can get pretty close by simply following the road lining the KTW in the said direction. That way you won't even have to cross the tracks that are used frequently. Have fun!
@@mibal10 Thank you for that information!
Do you go to the lake where you can rent a boat and bike or you can explore 101 putrajaya mall the second largest in the world
Thanks for the suggestions! We saw the lakes, they are really beautiful! :)
@@mibal10 This place is a bit boring during the day because there are fewer people, and the bus that connects from the MRT to the main place is quite limited in time. Only at Mall 101 are there many visitors.
Interesting point of view. 😉 We enjoyed watching 🍒🍒🍒
Kuala Lumpur definitely has the best transportation system in south East Asia region
Everything there smooth, clean, efficient, logical. Very nice experience. What caught us by surprise was the number of wagon's windows damaged by rocks. We saw "no rock throwing" signs at stations and quite a few broken windows too. I wonder what's the deal with that.
@@mibal10 Yes! That's a shame as you saw shattered windows on trains. Most are the latest models of commuter trains, with six cars long manufactured by CRRC, providing the worst quality compared to the older 3 cars long Hyundai Rotem sets. Plus, when trains pass by the rural area, some feral children pick up stones and throw them at the passing trains which are just speechless indeed.
I think Singapore is much better compared to Malaysia. West Malaysia is much more developed compared to East Malaysia in terms of public transport infrastructure, Despite being more developed, the developments are quite inadequate which results in white elephant projects. This is to say that infrastructure is being built but people don't use it due to all sorts of inconveniences and unavoidable circumstances. Also, just like the USA, Malaysian public infrastructures are mostly built on car-centrism, making it quite pedestrian-unfriendly, especially from point A to Z is the worst. Train frequencies are not so great, making it one hour per train, due to the lack of infrastructure capacity. Except for Kuala Lumpur, most major cities in Malaysia don't have mass transit so get ready for your personal transportation if you decide to travel across Malaysia. So that's my native perspective towards my local public transport :)
@@darrishng6540 I saw the signs first and was thinking like, is this a thing here, and yeah, not even 20 minutes later I saw that it is. Another surprise was that Lady coaches aren't really a thing as people just sit wherever they like. We were ready to walk through to the mixed, but it didnt seem to be a bother. Not that we encountered any bad pssenger culture at all. Everyone chill and friendly.
@@darrishng6540 thanks so much. We did see some of what you're talking about in Putrajaya. Thought of walking around as it's all green, but ended up doing Grab all day long. The employees at the railway station didn't even know if there are sidewalks on the bridges going to Putra Mosque. Turns out there are sidewalks, but the fact locals don't know of their existence speaks a lot about how man y people use them. haha
very nice video
thanks, it's a really lovely walk out there.

It's a lovely place, I am definitely going back one day!
Exactly what i wanted
Thanks! Got a bunch more like these in here. Check them out too!
What you saw in Makkasan Workshops were not in fact ex Bangkok tram cars. They are actually modern replica carriages for a narrow gauge steam railway, supposedly under royal patronage, which never got off the ground and they have been lying around for some years. There are several ex Bangkok electric trams dotted around the city but you have to hunt for them.
Thank you for this update! Do you know where would I found those tram cars in the city?
Thanks for sharing

I think you must have walked past our house, I could see it ahead, but then you edited it out. I agree about parking on the square, but it's restricted to business owners and hotel guests, no vehicles would be better. Yes, it's touristy, but Telč needs tourism to survive, Covid almost destroyed that.
