It would take a lot of cars off the road s today or just bring back electric 🚎 tram
Should never have been closed such a very bad idea
It’s 31 previous years ago that happened in 1993. Now it’s 2024. It’s the 2 x 1 single car class first generation DMU - Diesel ⛽️ Multiple Unit train 🚂 🚊 🚆. Formerly, there were class 153s when they took over in around 1993 to replace the aging class first generation DMU - Diesel ⛽️ Multiple Unit train 🚂 🚊 🚆. Class 153s had stopped being in the southwest of England 🏴 by around March 2024 and only class 150/2 are currently on the Looe Valley branch that runs between Liskeard and Looe is a daily service including bank 🏦 holidays except winter ❄️ 🥶 Sundays, Christmas 🎄🎅 🧑🎄 🤶 Day and Boxing 🥊 Day. 👍
Wasn’t it that long ago that happened is almost 😅 33 previous years ago in February 1992. Oh my goodness gracious mean 😢 😪 😭. It’s the 1 single car class first generation DMU - Diesel ⛽️ Multiple Unit train 🚂 🚊 🚆 that they’ve been stopped in the UK 🇬🇧 - United Kingdom 🇬🇧 since around 2019. WOW 😮 🤩 😯 , time 🕰️ flies quickly. Back then , I was aged 15 years old at the time 🕰️. It’s a slam door 🚪 train 🚂 🚊 🚆. Likewise, life is short. Now it’s Friday 9th August 2024. Only 6 months left until February 2025. In March 2025, I’ll be aged 49 years old if I can 👌 make it. It’s unbelievable thing to happen. At present 💝, there are the 2 car class 150/2 are used on the branch line from Penzance and St Erth to St Ives that runs everyday including public holidays except Christmas 🎄🎅 🧑🎄 🤶 Day and Boxing 🥊 Day. 👍
I think TH-cam is listening, because ever since I had a conversation about Consett recently there's been loads of cool old vids showing up. Anyway, I remember this very well. I was about 18 and working in a local garage and along with everyone else was given a warning by our boss Tom. Looking all serious he went on to say. "If I see a single bare arse belonging to anyone here, pointing towards Prince Charles, you can all just toodle on off to the Jobcentre. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!" LOL, like we would do such a thing!
Trains this long were common in the 40's and 50's, bringing the Bolton holiday makers to town. We looked forward to these visits as the Lancastrians people were just fabulous; a totally different crowd than us dour Cornishman....and when they left, the fun vacuum was evident. Great times. When a St.Ives fisherman got talking to a Bolton chap in one of the Wharf Lodges, the exchange was, to us boys, priceless...I doubt any recording was ever made, more's the pity.
BFK as the first seated car - didn't know they had 1st class on these trains
How fast 31 years goes by
Three engines?! I can understand topping and tailing, but ... was the third engine for train heating? And did anyone have the chance to get out at St Ives? (Long walk through the train if you were at the wrong end).
Working by himself in a remote place and yet he still wears a tie to work. Now that's pride in your work and self.
With just a few more coaches that train could have stopped at both Lelant Saltings station and Lelant station at the same time!
Line should still be down and used today
I’ve been there 3 times before and I can still come here anytime on holiday
It’s a bit odd to have a railtour to ever use to st Ives branch and I believe this is the only time for the tour to ever come here
50033 has since returned back to service but I’m afraid no longer a mainline engine
Today 50050 fearless is back on the mainline and so has 50007 Hercules and 50049 defiance
So my guess is consett closed by British steel corporation with the blessing of one general sir Margaret Thatcher and her junta of let's bugger up our heavy industry advocates and chuck em.on the dole and forget about them?
Superb sounding 47 dragging it's silent mate. Why I love driving 47s so much, to this day.
dam 1982 was not even born yet
Hello, may I use this clip in a documentary? x
Hi, yes you are welcome to use it. First time I've watched it for quite a few years and I can't believe how fuzzy it looks compared to today's videos.
@@Bridge3A I think it is beautiful in it's own way x Keep an eye on my channel and I will credit you. THANKS!
A nice slice of history beautifully captured 👌
Missing the Mk 2 coaches
On that line on a family holiday before 92 . 88-90 around then
I remember riding the branch line from St Erth to St Ives on my holidays in May 1990. I seem to remember an elderly couple getting off at the wrong stop at one point 😂. I also recall that the old Milk Race (cycling) was taking place in the area at the time and everyone was talking about it.
Wotta load of sad annoraks get a life you dorks
Several different vehicles travelling in different directions and no sign of a bubble.
Very confusing. It doesn't seem to know whether it's going or coming. A few captions wouldn't hurt.
Some people are never pleased 🙄
Nice video matey.
I was on the last train to Consett. I was a Delves Lane Junior School pupil at the time. Memories!!!
i went to saint marys born 83
Cor, Just look at that filth blasting into the atmosphere of Rose-an-Grouse from those diesel engines and there are those who want to keep the things going. The sooner the UK gets an all electric rail system the better. Great to see old St Erth Station though.
Cor Just look at all those heavy Diesel exhaust fumes polluting my wonderful branch lime at 4:15. Good to see the carriages on the line once again. I recall them from my childhood in Lelant. Now I want that line to have a much cleaner system operated on the line - maybe tidal electric powered from Dynamite Quay powering a battery operated train. (Some hope)
Lovely branch line trains there, are any in use still? would there be a chance of using some of the audio to go with a model rail video I am planning please?
None left in regular service but several have been preserved. Feel free to use the audio for your video.
@@Bridge3A Many thanks, most kind :)
still open
Yes, and still manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year......
Most of the veg were on here for the Peak no one really cared about the branch lol
Thanks for the upload. In its pomp, the old Midland station must have had many platforms and long trains serving it. I notice Midland Hotel being lit up, was that for the occasion? The last train, seemed like a heritage DMU.
That appeared t be a pair of class 101s at the end Certainly broke the monotony of the 153 shuttling up and down all day
Highly reliable old DMUs these which served many years
Really classic old railcar. I like the Regional Railways livery. Should bring back one unified livery, similar to where TfL buses are all red but contain the operator's logo. I don't know much about economics of transportation, but would it not have been viable to have these going for some more years rather than replacing with class 150/153? I guess there is that 'get rid of slam-doors' order of the early 2000s. Why did they have to get rid of them all? I remember slam door trains on the lines from Waterloo and GEML from my days living in the UK.
That's 37373 and 214 on the cement tanks. You can tell the latter because of the nose clips and scars to it's paint job. www.flickr.com/photos/httpwwwpeakdaleworkscom/8735953997/
I remember the way it was not like that nowadays sad 😢
intercity class 47 failure, always a res to rescue it, nice vid bud.
Ernie Lofthouse doing the honours in the box - spent many happy hours at Prom station, both as a boy, and signal lampman. Thanks very much for posting.
What a depressing area. No wonder people holiday abroad and its cheaper.
I’m there right now and it’s worse now the station there is closed as theres is all carparks over it all at least the station building is still there
That was four months before Dad and Graham Dyson transferred to Carnforth when Springs Branch shut
0:28 Loose carriage runnung away in right direction. 4-5-5 to box in advance.
Wow! those lights flashed fast & that barrier bounced so high, that the alarm came back on! This crossing was recently renewed & now has four barriers & an E2S Voice alarm (although the voice is disabled), but it's still controlled from the signal box!
Lovely scenic journey
Utterly incomprehensible to nine tenths of the world's population and complete sense to ones that matter.
Don't talk to me about sophistication, I've been to Leeds!
Brings back some great memories - thanks for sharing!
god how vey sad I used that route so many times, drunk/sober always thought I was home when I saw the sight of that signal box, happy days.
Are the Tyne Valley Stompers still going? They're bloody awesome.
