A few incomplete laps around INDE motorsports ranch. I hit a bump on the straight and the engine cut out for less than a second, I assume because of traction control but not sure about that. Hey, thanks for making these videos. As a Duke 390 owner, i love the top end rush on that big single. Once past 7000 rpm, it rushes to the limiter which you'd know since you've owned one. My question is, does this engine have a similar characteristic? Or does it taper down towards the redline as some mention. I love my Duke 390, but this twin with the 270 degree crank sounds awesome and would like to know if the engine has similar character before i make a decision! Hey there, Andy. Like that Indian fellow said 3/4 videos back, I like your videos because you get straight to the point. It's awesome. I just came back from a Demo Day at an Aprilia dealership, testing out the RS 660 and RS 457. First time on a sport bike I was impressed at the character difference between these two and my 850 V7 Moto Guzzi bike! But to the point, if your taking questions from the comment section, I've got two for ya: 1. When you grab your clutch, do you often find yourself turning on your brights by accident? I don't know if that switch is just in my way or if I need to grab the clutch another way. 2. What do you think of the vibration at high speeds (60-100 mph)? Unfortunately that demo only allowed me to reach 55 mph, so I couldn't open her all the way up. (Side note: I also intended on buying the RS 660 knowing I have that extra power on tap, but after trying out the RS 457, it was just so much fun and engaging.) Thanks again for the informational videos, Andy!

    • @andyruhl7739
      @andyruhl7739 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1. Yes, many times! But I think only on the track, I can't remember doing it on the road. I don't use the clutch that much at the track honestly, Pre-loading the shifter and either blipping or coming off the throttle and it shifts either up or down no problem. 2. Another guy who rode my 457 at the track says he likes it better than the 660. For the road, I think it's a hard decision to take the 457 over the 660 if you can ride both bikes comfortably. So many people rave about the 660 Tuono as well. If you're doing any long distance riding at all the 660 is probably better. Town or track I think it's a harder decision. Only you can decide.

      I'm glad you brought that up. I should have done a separate video on that. The ABS didn't kick in for me at all on the track. You have to really try to make it happen with the rear brake (which I don't use much), and I was able to just lift the rear wheel with the front brake before ABS kicked in. All of my ABS testing was done in the pits at slower speeds just because I wanted to know what was going to happen. No problems with ABS for me.

    Why would you need new tires? Factory are usually better than you give credit for. My 450SS came with tires people questioned, but handle good in: snow, rain, light ice, wind, have never slipped or lost traction once. And I do 70-100 mph quite often my redline is at 12,000 with over rev to 14,000. I can hit 106mph in 5th gear at 14000 for about 1 minute...If you learn to ride where push down on peg to get most lean you'll always hit that grippy part of the tire.

Basically what happens when you're at low revs you get surprisingly good mileage like a 300cc but when you redline it drops like 650-700cc bikes. I nearly bought one of those. I might still, I don't know. After racing 600s for years, I kind of went off of them, and that bike seems like a smaller version of a 600. We'll see. It looks so cool. When the weight goes up things change a lot. For example, the RS660 is a full sized bike and feels like it, and I suspect the 400RR is similar. The RC390 feels like a bicycle in comparison. The RS457 is close to the 390 in that regard.

    • @andyruhl7739
      @andyruhl7739 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any of those are good. The 390 is actually a little better due to the engine, it has more torque at lower RPM so it's easier to ride for a beginner. The twins need to be revved more to start from a stop. And more shifting around town. The 390 Duke might be the ideal starter bike. If you've never ridden a bike at all, dirt bikes are a better place to start because you are probably going to drop the bike once in a while. Those are much cheaper to fix, if they take any damage at all. Sport bikes can get thousands of dollars of damage just from falling over.
