I was 16 when I first heard PF on the underground FM station living with my folks in the SF Bay Area in 1968. UmmaGumma had just been released and my friend bought it and we listened to it in his room at his house. A 2-record set. and I looked the same as you - speechless and stunned. Sidhu Moose Wala's original name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu. He belonged from Moosa Village in Mansa, Punjab. He is also known as the "Billboard King of India". So high was his 3rd Song, but this was the song which rose him to fame. He was a Punjabi Singer, rapper, lyricist, and philanthropist. His influence, even after his death, is beyond words. He also ranked 19th among the most viewed artists in the world 2023 (8th in 2022). In 2021, his album moosetape became the first Indian album to have more than 1 billion streams on Spotify. His achievements are endless but he also remained in controversies throughout his life. He was often criticized for the gang culture in his songs, and other things like that. But he was also very down to earth, as the sister said in the video. Even after rising to such fame, that artists like Drake follow him, he never left his village stayed connected to his roots and he was often praised for treating his fans like his own family. Now, the most important thing about him. He used to have a fearless attitude and often questioned government and society while talking about social and political issues in his songs, which others were afraid to do. And above all of that, he stayed in his village only and didn't settle in abroad. Which I personally believe became the reason for his death. On 29th May, 2022, he was driving his thar to a nearby village with his friend and neighbour. Around 5:20 pm, he was surrounded by two cars and thirty rounds were fired at him, he also fired back at them with his pistol and emptied the rounds. But unfortunately, the assassins had automatic rifles - An AK-47 rifle, a .30 bore pistol and 4-5 9mm pistols. He was among the 424 people whose security was removed (and this sensitive information was made public) a day before this incident. Sidhu really admired Tupac and unfortunately, he was planned the same way as him and died a more brutal death. He contested elections Around 2 months prior to his death, he contested elections in his constituency but he lost (ironically, the person who won instead of Sidhu was charged with corruption after a while). The police called the case "inter gang rivalry" but no evidence or link of Sidhu with any gang was found after nearly a year of investigation. People also addressed Sidhu as anti national but he replied to them everytime and also said in various interviews, that he only speaks for the rights of Punjab granted by the constitution. (Fun fact: He payed 24 crores of tax in a year and also donated around 10 crore to his district Mansa, and 30-50 lakhs to the hospital). He also released a song "The Last Ride" two weeks prior to his assassination where he predicted his death. (And you can call this a coincidence or whatever you would like to but his most iconic song's title was "295" and he exactly died on "29.5"). You should react to both of these too. Love from 🇨🇦🇮🇳

Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend at the time and I loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I cannot describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. Our 4 adult children (28-33) love 70’s/80’s music just as we do. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.
