Fairfield West to Georges Hall | morning Sydney commute to work taking the backstreets
Beautiful sunny Wednesday Autumn morning drive to work in South Western Sydney. I took the backstreets mainly due to high traffic at peak hour (6am - 10am)
On my drive I pass through Fairfield West, Canley Vale, Fairfield East, Carramar, Villawood and Georges Hall which fall under the LGA (local government area) of Fairfield City Council and Georges River Council - although some of it belongs to the Cumberland Council. Fairfield has a mix of commercial and residential developments, mostly medium-density buildings and some new high-rise apartments.
Fairfield is one of the most multicultural and culturally diverse cities in Australia, with more than half of the residents born overseas. A great percentage of its residents were born in non-English speaking countries. The majority of the suburb's residents speak a language other than English at home.
Fairfield City has a number of Major Works in progress.

Point Piper is certainly one of Sydney's most prestigious suburbs, but in terms of rental rates, St. Ives in Sydney's upper north shore is the most expensive, as is Greenwich, Russel Lea and Castlecrag.

Yatchs don't generate income.
You fail to realise how steep the hill off Wolseley road is. Most homes are barely a garage at street level. Ours for instance steps down four levels by elevator to the main podium and then it’s another two levels below of gym/cinema and finally pool/jetty. Couldn’t agree more Wolseley road looks plain as fuck compared to Olola, The Crescent and Coolong, but still the most unbeatable view, elevation and depth water anywhere in Sydney.
The streetscape is ordinary, the houses behind those walls and garage doors are anything but.
All those millions and they still have to park on the street

It's up there. Per square metre of land it's very pricey, much more expensive than say, Los Angeles, where you can pay $75M for a beautiful home in Bel Air, but it will be on a block of 3, 5, or more acres. The blocks in Point Piper are nowhere near that big.

I used to work in Botany and I retired in June,2020.And it was 1 week later that a toll was introduced in the Beverly Hills to Arncliffe portion of the M5 East.So great ‘timing’ on my part.In all seriousness from what I’ve read,both the M5 East and M8 have received much lower patronage and,with the high toll charges,I can see why.
It is definitely expensive to use the toll roads in Sydney. Hope you enjoyed the video!
